*dances* So I will be gone on a mini vacation starting tomorrow. I'll be gone for a week and won't be able to get online. So you guys have ample amount of time to make your choices, I'm putting up nominations early. Note that we have a new category....Couple/Duo of the month! As always, note these rules 1) the same person cannot win the same award two months in a row (want to give others a chance, so keep that in mind when you make your nominations and voting. You can give that person acknowledgement of course in your post!)
2) Come June 1st, we'll give out awards...which means the people who have awards now will have to give their siggies up so the new winners can feel special But dont worry, we'll have an archive of awards in our graphics section and you can keep a list of the awards you've won in your siggy.
3) For new people (and old, but mostly for those who just joined us this month), you notice that we have a marquee at the top displaying headlines for the NEW YORK TIMES in our RP. Every month we will look for moments in the threads you're involved in, that are pretty public...that a newspaper team would pick up on. We also will have a character (or two) interviewed each month.Read the paper for examples. Large public scenes, events with high-profile people, criminal activity, big events in general, anything like that is welcome. We're accepting headlines, blurbs, classified ads, and if you want...any ideas of how we could expand the paper So even if you'd rather not nominate, please let us know if you are involved in a thread with those kind of things in it. Or if you have anything to contribute. Here's a reminder of the criteria Criteria for Male and Female of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Active -Constantly contributing to the board and its members -Wonderful RPer (you can provide an excerpt of a post that demonstrates their wonderfulness) -Helpful and friendly Criteria for Couple/Duo of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Excellent RPs together -Either have one or more of the following - Chemistry/Rivalry/Romance/Teamwork/Interesting dynamic or pairing -RPers work well together Criteria for Thread of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Engaging, exciting, suspenseful and/or enjoyable to read -All characters demonstrate excellent RPing skills -A defining/memorable thread Please nominate who you think should win for each of these awards. Please copy and paste the code below. It is important that you explain WHY you nominate your choices! After a week or so, we'll take these nominations and create a poll with all of the nominees. All members can then vote for the nominee they think should win! The poll will close the day before June 1st. Also...in classic Rewritten city tradition, we will have A SURPRISE for you guys on that day! So have fun, and nominate who you think should win! The code is below:

I nominate: Erik “The Phantom” MeursaultFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Have you seen his posts? He has a real power to create the air of the Phantom when he writes, which are really creating to his threads. I'm looking forward interacting with Erik in the future, until then he deserves a good honouring. Joanne JeffersonFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! The little lady's not been here all that long but she's been in real physical motion. She's active, on the move with posting and also, she's friendly. I've not done much talking with her (she's normally online when I'm asleep, yay timezones) but when I go through the cbox history chances are she's been there. From what I've seen she's willing to enter into new plots too. Earnest In Service Of My GodFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! The creeper in me returned and I had an oogle at this thread. It has a deploring mood, and both characters involve lament over their personal ails whilst engaging in a contemplative conversation, all in the characterising atmosphere of the church. Kudos to Prince H and Rickyboy. I nominate: Richard Plantagenet & Anne LancasterFor COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! In the mornings when I look at the cbox, theres usually a history of these two plotting like penpushers. I don't know much about the Tragedy of Richard III but reading their little brainblossoms and the thread they got going, they make me interested. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?STORE OWNER FOUND DEAD ON WALL STREET! "City police have been investigating the death of Hank Yrio, 42, who was found dead in his small retail store on Wall Street. The area surrounding the store, Hank's Handware, is currently under inquiry. Mister Yrio's body was discovered in the early hours of Tuesday morning by his employee Henry Jekyll, 23, who reported to police the door to the store was unlocked and inside there looked to be signs of a struggle. The death is being treated as suspicious."

I nominate: Henry JekyllFor MALE OF THE MONTHTichy's posts are always very detailed and it's clear she really understands the characters she portrays. I love her reinvention of Jekyll, despite the fact I haven't read the book I can tell that she knows the character well as she really delves into his thoughts and feelings in her posts. 'The Kill' gave me chills when I read it, literally...a sign of a great thread. ^^ I'm also a huge fan of her Holmes and Rose Maylie and can't wait to roleplay with them in the future. <3 Robin 'Puck' GoodfellowFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHOh. My. Goodness. What can I say? Edie's reinvention of Puck simply blows me away; absolutely amazing. Her play-by, the way she writes as Puck, the words she uses...words fail me. I love how she uses somewhat dated phrases in her writing ('Tis, for example) and quirky little phrases ("songs made her wish to dance, and dancing made her feet wish to trip, and tripping made her skin want to scrape") really help to bring the character to life. Roleplaying with her in 'Dearest To Me, My Dear' is great fun; I can't wait to continue that thread! Not to mention her portrayal of a fellow 'Twist' character...Richard's having a chat with him now and doubtless Fagin will too later. Can't wait! <3 ||YOLS||/Sarah-head desk- I knew that. I'm sorry Sarah! D8 -huggles and gives muffins- Rest assured I'm still a huge fan of yours and will continue to be so. <3Looking DownFor THREAD OF THE MONTHThis thread has only just started up but the amount of detail and description in both players' posts so far is very impressive, really setting out the scene and making me feel as though I was there with them. I look forward to reading the rest of this thread as it progresses; strange though this may sound it is quite a calming thread due to the gentle nature of its characters and its setting, it is very pleasant to peruse. <3 I nominate: Dallas Winston & Davey "Dionysus" BacchusFor COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHThe tension between this pair in 'Tensed and Released' really grabbed my attention this month. Both roleplayers are playing their characters brilliantly; I really get a sense of both men's personalities, thoughts and feelings. I look forward not only to reading the rest of this thread but seeing more of these characters; they are both really interesting and fun to read, as it were. <3 Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
We all know Lady Catherine de Bourgh works for various charitable organizations to help those less fortunate and loves to give advice. Recently she decided to combine her special talents and set up an Agony Aunt Column in the New York Times. Send in your queries and questions to 'Agony Auntie Augusta' and she shall reply posthaste. Whether her replies will be useful and constructive or just a lot of waffle remains to be seen...
(Yes, her nom de pen was inspired by Lady Bracknell of The Importance Of Being Earnest fame. I read her part in Act One in my after school drama club the other night....love her! :3)
CREDIT FOR THIS IDEA GOES NOT ONLY TO LADY C BUT ALSO TO BEN MONTAGUE. Much love m'dear. <3

PLANTAGENET MANOR OPENS ITS DOORS
Mayor Plantagenet is rumoured to be hosting a grand dinner party at his majestic Manhattan residence within the next few weeks...details of the precise date are as yet unclear but rumours abound that the guest list includes such names as The Count of Monte Cristo, Harry Chandler of Hamlet Enterprises and Detective Holmes! It sounds like a night to remember...the Times will have updates as they come!

Sorry Fagin, Eponine is already Female of the month this month. So your nomination can't be counted (you can edit, though, of course). You can have her as an honorable mention .
Oh and thanks guys for the noms so far

I nominate:
Henry Jekyll For MALE OF THE MONTH
Tichy really has a great hold on the character, especially with the whole dissociative identity disorder. I can really feel Henry's pain in dealing with the fear of it sometimes. I also really enjoyed our thread between him and Bunny, and I think their character meshed really well. 'The Kill' was great and so detailed. I can't wait to have another thread with him in the future and find out how Bunny and Henry will relate to each other after Hank's death.
Lady Catherine de Bourgh For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
Even though Nessie hasn't had much of an opportunity to play her yet, I loved reading her profile and her RP sample with the latte. It's gold. I think she is going to be a terrific character just as is Nessie's style. She'll definitely make herself known in the city and on the RP as Her Ladyship goes about her business.
A Little Literary Turbulence For THREAD OF THE MONTH
This thread it so clever. I really enjoy reading the banter between Monks and Richard. Monks' posts are incredibly detailed and very well thought-out, as as Richard's. I though it was so interesting that Richard was picking up Machiavelli as that very book was the one that convinced Henry VIII that it was all right for him to separate from the Catholic Church (after Richard's time, of course, but still ironic). I look forward to seeing where the rest of the thread goes.
I nominate:
Éponine Thénardier & Mercutio Facetia For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTH
So far I have loved their interaction in the ball thread. They are opposites of each other, and that seems to attract them. Mercutio is high and a little off, whereas Eppie is sober and constantly looking out for things. Her is carefree, and she is intense. I can't wait to see how they interact further in the ball thread and beyond.

SENATOR'S DAUGHTER TAKES A DIP AT CAPULET BALL!
The Capulet Ball, an event that drew celebrities like moths to a flame, was bound to have something interesting happen. Miss Elissa Purcell, widow and daughter to Senator Purcell of Maine, socialized with the other partygoers until disappearing from the ballroom to the back patio by the pool. Though the paper is unsure of the reason, several sources tell us that Miss Purcell took an accidental dip in the Capulet pool. Thankfully, she was closely followed not only by Dr. James Faustus but also Dr. John Moreau. Both men fished her out and tended to her needs.

Hi all, Monte Cristo here- long time no see! I miss chatting with y'all in the cbox. Things have been pretty busy for me- I'm working 10-hour days. So much for summer vacation. I hope I'll be able to shift my schedule around to spend more time here. Anyway, here goes. I nominate: Ben Montague For MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! The character is extremely engaging and written to a T (from what I remember of the play!). The player seems open to pretty much anything, and is a wonderful RPer. (I'm monstrously classist when it comes to RPing, so when I say things like this, it's a huge compliment.) Catherine Vivian EarnshawFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! She's been a real trooper in a very difficult thread (trust me, I'm writing the other half of it!). Her writing is always wonderful, and very insightful. Her character seems difficult to really work with, but she handles it very well. Begin The BrawlFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! I pretty much read anything Richard is in because I'm such a fan/stalker. This thread is well-developed, and it's a major turning point in the plot for Richard, if I'm not mistaken. It looks like another difficult thread because of the circumstances the characters are in, but the players are experts and are handling things quite smoothly. I nominate: Dr. James Faustus & Elissa "Dido" PurcellFor COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! Their interaction in the ball thread is just wonderful to follow. Dido really is being a good sport about it all. Or maybe she's just like me and gets off on doing evil things to her characters. Either way, it's entertaining stuff. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?Murder of College Student Remains Unsolved I think Lenore's death is probably news-worthy. There aren't many details; little is known about what happened. Her apparent cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head by an unidentified object. As far as the police can tell, Chase was the last to see her alive. The story and the funeral are in the History and RP Sample sections of his bio. There are also a few more details in the thread here. Monte Cristo Investments Showing Growth Despite Economic Hardships As for Monte Cristo, he seems to have kept himself out of trouble for once! But, if you want, you could mention in passing or in a side column that his investment business is doing pretty well. It would help awesomely in what I have planned for him if he got mentioned in the news yet again. I'm trying to get him pissed off. ^.^

I'm touched Eppie <3 I've got to say that I second the notion of nominating Joanne and I second the male nominees as well. Everyone has done wonderfully this month and I'm very proud! Haha yes I wormed my way out of nominations...almost. I nominate:
Capulet Manor Costume Ball For THREAD OF THE MONTH
Here's why! I'm a little surprised no one has done this yet. The initial planning by Juliet was very thorough and well done. I'm really getting a kick out of playing here and witnessing the crazy shenanigans everyone else is up to, specifcally Elissa and Faustus as well as Richard and Monte Cristo in the ballroom. Lots has happened...and things are about to get even crazier.
Roger Davis and Mimi Marquez For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTH
Here's why! We've had some intense scenes happen in our now finished thread, I won't tell 'em your name. Mimi is struggling with her heroin addictions and Roger, a former junkie, is heartbroken and determined to help her on her journey to becoming sober. They're devoted to eachother and I really enjoy playing out their strong bond.

I nominate: Monte CristoFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Once again, I nominate Monte because she continues to dish out excellent posts and continues to remain active. She clearly has some zeal for the site, and I already really love what she's done with his second character, Chase. She constantly contributes, and I really admire that, even though she's been busy lately. Keep it up Monte! Honorable mentions: Richard, who remains solid in posting and loyalty to the site, despite being busy lately as well. Chess (Watson), who, also despite being busy, keeps logging in and I always see her in the cbox. And reading her posts so far, she plays Watson brilliantly. Christine DaaéFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! I've seen some good improvements in her posting lately and she's been dedicated and consistent in her activity. Her posts, especially with The Phantom, have been great so far! She seems to really have fun Rping in general. Honorable mentions: Irene and her work with Anne, Joanne Jefferson for hitting the ground running on the site and really digging in, despite being new. Let No Bell TollFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! Really, what can I say? The posts by both Vivian and Chase read like a book, and sooooo much thought goes into all of the posts, I can tell. Both players play their characters so well, and it's just so interesting to read how they are reacting to one another, they only really just introduced themselves. It'll be great to see where this thread goes. I nominate: Christine and ErikFor COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! This duo is just awesomely in character. I'd like to direct your attention to the thread "Promise Me You'll Try", where both characters are so engaging with one another. There is such great pushing and pulling tonality (both physically and mentally) from both characters in that thread. I'm sure that we'll see more interesting dynamics from both in the future. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?Nothing quite yet but I'm sure next month we'll have some things for all of my characters. lol
