Berenice Jacobs was irritated. The source of her irritation could not be pinned down to any particular place. It stemmed from many different situations that piled on top of each other with inconvenient timing. No matter how organized Bunny tried to keep her life or how many entries she put on her PDA, there were times when everything just overlapped and Bunny found herself overwhelmed. She hated being overwhelmed because it brought out the worst side of her. She realized that she was being coldly silent toward people with whom she normally didn't have a problem instead of being timidly silent as she normally was. It wasn't difficult for Bunny to pinpoint most of the issues, either. In fact, she could think of them quite clearly.
The first and primary reason for her poor mood was her job. This was quite unusual, because Bunny usually loved her job. She was just frustrated because she was having a bit of difficulty working under her never supervisor. The woman, domineering and intimidating, had given Bunny an assignment with vague instructions. Bunny had gotten excited and gone to town, and by the time she was done with her proposal she had been very proud of it. Unfortunately, the new supervisor and her client had not been pleased. They had 'suggested' a slew of revisions, and when her client finally told her exactly what he wanted, Bunny realized that she would need to redo most of her work. She had called her sister to vent, who had sympathized but had introduced Bunny to the world of business. Her sister had even said that it was remarkable that Bunny hadn't experienced this sooner. Bunny felt better afterwards and realized that she had had the wrong attitude, but she was still a little stressed about it. The situation was made worse because Bunny was quite timid and was not willing to stand up to her new supervisor.
The second reason was her new medication. Her doctor had prescribed it to help Bunny better manage her absence seizures. Bunny understood, but transitioning to a new treatment after being on her old one for so long was difficult. It was adversely affecting her mood, and until her body adjusted to it, it would continue to do so. Her antidepressants helped a little, but not enough. Bunny was beginning to think that she should schedule an appointment with her therapist, a woman whom she'd been seeing ever since she moved to New York. She helped Bunny deal with the ghosts of the past as well as the difficulties of the present. She wasn't a regular patient, but rather an as-needed visitor to the psychiatrist. Bunny was becoming rather sure that she needed it now.
However, instead of sitting in the waiting room of a psychiatric care facility, Bunny was waiting for her reservation at one of her favorite restaurants. She was waiting to meet a friend of hers, Diana Jones, for lunch. With all that she was going through, Bunny decided that she should treat herself, so she texted Diana from her iPhone and, upon getting an affirmative reply, made her reservations. Diana was much younger than Bunny, but the two women had made quite the connection during their various social functions. Bunny valued her companionship and was really looking forward to meeting up with her.
Soon, the hostess came to lead her to her table so she could look at a menu while waiting for her friend. It didn't really take much thought for Bunny to decide what she wanted. She was craving a salad with one of the restaurant's specialty dressings. As soon as the waitress came over, she ordered one of them with a water. After the waitress left, Bunny kept an eye on the lunch crowd for Diana. Soon she saw a light blond head much like her own coming in her direction behind a hostess. Bunny stood with a smile. "Di! How are you?" she said excitedly but quietly, as was her style. She wrapped Diana in a light embrace before taking her seat again. "I am so glad you could come," Bunny said with a small smile. Diana Jones was late, and she knew it. But it wasn't like she could help it at all. Her boss had held her behind to work an extra two shifts when one of the newer waitresses had called in suddenly saying she had come down with some sort of virus. Diana had nearly scoffed when she heard the relayed message from her boss' lips, but she had stifled it just in time to hear him mention something about "gaining back enough graces in my eyes to make you manager, if you play things right".
Diana didn't believe for a split second the story of the waitress who had called in ill. The same waitress was probably out enjoying herself on the town whilst Diana was stuck in a smoky cafe, where more than one annoying guy had decided to hit on her "politely" while ordering coffee or something, and she didn't get nearly as many tips as she was hoping for. She had gotten hot chocolate spilled on her by the trainee, and so was forced to change into a tighter black t-shirt that was found in the back. Whereas it was the uniform, a form-fitting black shirt, she had to suffer the rest of the morning seeing looks cast her way from perv-guys as she delivered their coffees and such. And that was just the morning!
Oh the woes of work life!
She sent a text saying: "be right there, sorry" and shoved her phone back into her pocket, untying the short apron and shoving it into her shoulder bag. She was stalking determinedly down the street towards the restuarant that Bunny had said many times was her favourite. Diana knew she had to look at least presentable, but she hoped the tighter shirt wasn't going to be too noticeable. Tearing the band from her ponytail, she tousled her hair a bit and let it fall in smooth waves around her shoulders. It was all she could do; she was dressed in dark slacks, black t-shirt and darker purple converse shoes. A silver heart hung from a long chain around her neck. She knew she wouldn't look her best, but that's that. And truth be told, she really didn't care.
Entering the restuarant, she stepped up to the hostess and informed her that she was meeting a friend. Confirming that it was Bunny Jacobs, she was led back to the table. Her face broke into one of her rare genuinely happy smiles as she spotted her friend standing up to greet her.
"Di! How are you?" Diana returned the embrace that her friend offered. "I am so glad you could come,"
"Oh believe me so am I! I'm doing as well as can be expected. How 'bout you?" [/i] It was said with a slight furrowed brow and a softer tone. Diana had recieved an email from Bunny breifly explaining the new developments in her medical condition. It had concerned Diana, but she felt consoled in that Bunny looked as sweetly beautiful as Bunny Jacobs always did. Though Diana couldn't help but notice the slight change. The waitress handed Diana a menu as Diana took her seat, and the college student nodded her head in thanks before turning back to Bunny.[/blockquote][/size]
