The sound of thunder had begun to fade into the distance. Rain fell at a slow gentle pace, and its trails looked like tears on the windows of the library. Joanne absolutely loved days like this. Sure, it may have seemed melancholy, but she knew that beyond the clouds the sun was still shining. She didn't need to see the sun to know that it was there.
Christine seemed like a really nice girl, someone that could potentially be a friend. Joanne always managed to find friends in the strangest of places. She'd met Maureen in the Life, and through Maureen she'd met Roger, Collins, Angel, Mark, and Mimi. She'd met a few of her other friends in equally strange ways, and now the non-social lawyer was making a new friend in the Library.
"Sounds like you enjoy what you do. My girlfriend's name is Maureen Johnson, by the way." She walked along for a while, silently contemplating the idea of a trip to Paris. A vacation would be nice...if she ever had the time to take one.
"So are you going to go back to Paris? For good I mean."

It seemed the storm had finally let up so Christine would head home. Though she didn't want to head home just yet, she wanted to continue talking with Joanne. Joanne was a nice woman. Someone would be fit to work in such a place as a lawyer. Christine had never been to court, but she's seen it on TV quite a lot and she probably would not handle the busy hours. As Joanne talked she couldn't help but smile at her. She was very nice.
"Yes, very much so. I had someone tutor me when I lived in the Opera House back in Paris" she said softly. Christine could only smile when she said that. Even so, she had met up with him again here in New York. Though wasn't quite sure of something. Christine shacked the thought out of her mind and looked back at Joanne for a moment. "Maureen.." she said very quietly so Joanne wouldn't here. It was a nice name. and interesting one at that.
Turning to Joanne she had a confused look upon a her face when she asked. "Well, Im not quite sure when I am going to go back" she said softly. "I would like to, but, Im not sure when that's going to be. I don't have a home there anymore." she said softly. Christine sighed softly and said "My home was the Opera House. I was seven when I moved there after my father died. And, now its burnt to the ground and its all in ruins" she said softly looking at Joanne. "But when the time comes to go back there. I hope you and Maureen, would come and visit. I would love to show you Paris" she said with a small smile upon her face. Hoping Joanne would take up her offer.

She could hear the rain slowing around them, and knew that she was pushing her time limit of being away from home. She rarely had the days she lovingly called 'hooky days' and she attempted to spend them at home. Today however, she'd ventured to the library and had found a nice amount of entertainment that didn't exist between the pages of a book. Besides, she reckoned, Maureen went out and did whatever the hell Maureen wanted, usually without telling her, so one extra hour or two at the library was going to be alright.
Christine's story about her home was rather sad, and Joanne could understand why she was a little hesitant to return to Paris. Memories like those the poor girl clearly had would have been more than enough incentive for Joanne to never go back. That, of course, made Joanne like the girl even more. Home was the place a person could always go back to. Joanne wasn't sure if she'd found that place yet.
"I would be happy to visit you in Paris, and it won't be hard convincing Maureen to go. She'd love a vacation."

Still having the book in her hand, she looked at it while they walked around the library a few more times. Unsure if she should go now, before she changed her mind, on buying this heavy book. A sigh escaped from her and she smiled at Joanne. Joanne was a very nice woman and she was happy to have ran into her. Christine smiled and listened to what she had to say.
Though memories of the past of the Opera in Ruins, saddened her just a bit. Unsure if she really wanted to go back home. Raoul, had told her that New York was the safest place for them. There would be no more incidents with the Phantom kidnapping her. But there had been a few encounters. From what she remembered this passed week. Christine turned to Joanne once more as she listened.
A smile appeared upon Christine's face. "Oh, that would be lovely. " she announced as they approached the check out table. "I would be honored to give you a tour around Paris someday. Whenever I'm back there" she said placing her book down and paid for it then waited for Joanne to come with her.
