"It doesn't really matter what you order, Richard. Here, it's going to be amazing no matter what,"
"I'm very glad to hear it," Richard said with a smile, taking another sip from his wine glass and setting it down once more. He hadn't realized the anonymous nature of the place, hence his earlier confusion, but he appreciated it all the same, and doubtless Hector did as well.
"To get back to our conversation about the books, Hector, I have to say I'm interested in a number of them. When would it suit you best for me to stop by?"
ooc: Sorry this took so long and sorry it's so short. D: -grovels- Forgive me?

"Before four, Tuesday through Friday. Anytime is fine, as long as it's in that window. I'd appreciate if you called first though. Some of my men have been getting ansty to stir up trouble and have been, far more than they should be," Hector sighed and shook his head. The younger...minions he supposed was an adequate word, thought that he ran his business like every other gang in New York. It took several, impromptu, lessons to fix that idea.
"And, I'm willing to give you a discount, I suppose. If you purchase enough," Hector wouldn't be losing much. His prices were already exorbitant enough, a small discount still made him more money than other bookstore owners could dream of. Of course, most bookstore owners didn't specialize in rare books. The word rare was an automatic price hike in the literary world.

"Before four, Tuesday through Friday," Richard repeated. "Excellent. And don't worry, I'll be sure to call." He decided not to comment on what Hector had said about his men, surely he wouldn't want to dwell on out of control lackeys considering his status in the criminal underworld. That was his business anyway, not Richard's. No need for further enquiries.
"And, I'm willing to give you a discount, I suppose. If you purchase enough,"
Richard grinned and raised his glass to the mob boss as a gesture of thanks.
"There really is no need for that, Hector...but if you insist I won't refuse you," he replied, his smile still present as he set down his glass again.

Hector nodded and relaxed back into the chair, smoothing his tie in the process. It was a habit that he was barely aware of. It was part of his personal neatness. He liked to be clean and well put together and having a wrinkled or askew tie was not an option. Hector crossed his legs at the ankles and regarded his companion coolly. Richard had the habit of saying simple things that were merely masks and it was Hector's nature to try and see what was underneath that mask.
For the majority of the meal, there had been no such mask to Richard's words, except for that brief moment where the facade had slipped. It was that very fact that was making it hard for Hector to truly enjoy himself during this little meeting. Richard wasn't the type to ever communicate without some sort of mask, but neither was he. That was what was wrong. They both were chatting uninhibited, their guards dropped.
That made them vulnerable.
It made them sloppy.
