Vivian smiled sweetly as camera's snapped all around her. Ringing the bell at the Stock Exchange. Somewhat boring really, but it was still something to do. Looking around her, she could see everyone waiting, like the day just couldn't start without her ringing that bell. It made her feel powerful in a funny way. Her mind toyed with the idea of just never bothering to push it. Would someone else come along and do it for her, or would everyone just keep waiting around for her? The latter of the two options seemed very doubtful, but it was an interesting thought. Did everyone just spend their time waiting around for some sort of signal that it was okay to do whatever it was they needed to do?
As much as a part of her wanted to test out her little theory, she knew that it would just be stupid to not do the job she was here to perform. With one last look at the crowd she pushed down on the button and tried not to wince at the loud sound that came not a second later. Applause made up for it, but still-what a stupid thing to applaud for. All she had done was push a button. But she would take what she could get. The man on her left shook her hand and pointed her to the small steps that would take her down into the now bustling room. There was money to be made and she didn't matter to them anymore.
Vivian took a moment to look at the business around her. She wasn't the best at figuring all of it out, but she had the gist of it. There was no way her father would have let her out of the house without the basic knowledge. He was a business man, and she was sure he expected the same from her brother, if not her. Maybe one day she could be one of those women, but why bother with it now? She had no need for it.But there was something just a little bit fascinating about this whole thing. Vivian found herself just a little bit mesmerized by her surroundings and rather than sliding out the door, she stood and stared.
