HAMLET WANTS YOU TO NOMINATE!1) Nominations for awards have been pretty scarce over the last few months so we'd really love if you'd put in your 2-3 cents about who you guys think should get honors! Don't be shy If you can't think of a nominee for every category, thats okay, you can just fill out the categories you do know. 2) We're having a SECRET SANTA! Its fun! Sign up! 3) Its the holiday season for a lot of people right now so that usually means either people are really busy or have a lot of time on their hands because of vacation. LOL Whatever the case, don't fret - if you have a lot of time on your hands, RC is here for all your RPing needs. And if you're busy, we understand, RC will be here when you get back and yes, when 2011 rolls around So here are the rules 1) the same person cannot win the same award two months in a row (want to give others a chance, so keep that in mind when you make your nominations and voting. You can give that person acknowledgement of course in your post!)
2) Come December 1st, we'll give out awards...which means the people who have awards now will have to give their siggies up so the new winners can feel special But dont worry, we'll have an archive of awards in our graphics section and you can keep a list of the awards you've won in your siggy.
3) For new people (and old, but mostly for those who just joined us this month), you notice that we have a marquee at the top displaying headlines for the NEW YORK TIMES in our RP. Every month we will look for moments in the threads you're involved in, that are pretty public...that a newspaper team would pick up on.
Read the paper for examples. Large public scenes, events with high-profile people, criminal activity, big events in general, anything like that is welcome. We're accepting headlines, blurbs, classified ads, and if you want...any ideas of how we could expand the paper So even if you'd rather not nominate, please let us know if you are involved in a thread with those kind of things in it. Or if you have anything to contribute. Here's a reminder of the criteria Criteria for Male and Female of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Active -Constantly contributing to the board and its members -Wonderful RPer (you can provide an excerpt of a post that demonstrates their wonderfulness) -Helpful and friendly Criteria for Couple/Duo of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Excellent RPs together -Either have one or more of the following - Chemistry/Rivalry/Romance/Teamwork/Interesting dynamic or pairing -RPers work well together Criteria for Thread of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Engaging, exciting, suspenseful and/or enjoyable to read -All characters demonstrate excellent RPing skills -A defining/memorable thread Please nominate who you think should win for each of these awards. Please copy and paste the code below. It is important that you explain WHY you nominate your choices! After a week or so, we'll take these nominations and create a poll with all of the nominees. All members can then vote for the nominee they think should win! The poll will close the day before December 1st. So have fun, and nominate who you think should win! The code is below:

I nominate: James FaustusFor MALE OF THE MONTHThanks for letting me jump into your thread. And I do enjoy posting with Faustus, especially his and Polynesia's Hate/Hate relationship. (I don't know about Faustus but I have a lot of fun writing Polynesia's responses to him.) Penelope LaFontaineFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHMajor Kudos for letting me join you're thread. I also enjoy your posts. It was a dark and stormy night. For THREAD OF THE MONTHBoth Eponine and Jane have been putting out good posts. Also the interaction of personalities has been interisting to follow. I nominate: (Nominees' names Here)For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! (explain here) Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?(Yes, no. Name the thread and suggest a "headline" and even a short "blurb" that you think would describe the event. I nominate: Harry "Hamlet" ChandlerFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Because he's an equal opportunity drinker that's made of so much awesomesauce that he should be from France. Katherine MinolaFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Because she's wonderful. I've had the pleasure to rp with her in three seperate threads and each time the fiery Wall Street baracuda has been sharp and entertaining. The Plantagenet Case; an interrogationFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! First of all, Tichy and Yols together in a thread a la interview style. It's such a raw look at the characters and is incredibly compelling. Honorable Mentions: As Sins Undress the Night BECAUSE THEY WIN I nominate: Two-Bit Matthews, Sylvia Hayes, and Dallas WinstonFor COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! The tension in their thread You Give Love A Bad Name is intense. All the buddy-like comraderie we've been seeing from the Greasers has reached a boiling point in an unexpected (on my part anyway) and interesting love triangle. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?BREAKING HEADLINE: Severely Mutilated Body Found On SubWay Platform! Two o'clock Wednesday morning, a NYPD patrolman was investigating an odd smell coming from the B train's platform. Upon inspection, a severely mutilated body was found lying on a bed. The body had several digits missing and suffered from serious burns and lacerations. The police are working on finding out the identification of John Doe.

Your wish is my command, Hamlet. *____* I nominate: Two-Bit MathewsFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! For one, this character is a riot. Wise-cracking, prone to getting himself wrapped up into troublesome situations, and lacking even a semblance of respect for authority, Two-Bit is a character that injects a great deal of humor into the predominantly angst-ridden group we all love. The Greasers. Merrill writes him masterfully and each of her novella-length posts is an absolute pleasure to read. Brilliant writer and an all-around awesome person. Honorable mentions: Hector “Hades” Tormei. Such intense power and a looming, collected presence in threads. A marvelous portrayal of a mob boss. Edward Hyde. Disturbing is what he is. Definitely someone you don’t want to be trapped in an alleyway with, that’s for sure. As always, unbelievable skill demonstrated by the ever-talented Tichy. Jane EyreFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Bet you’re getting tired of me nominating her, huh? Well, I’m going to keep nominating her for as long as it takes for her to receive the proper recognition she deserves. Just recently, Jane has started picking up traction again with a new thread with Sherlock and she’s as brilliant as always. Reminded me why I missed her posts so much. Such a genuine and affable character, I don’t see how anyone could muster any dislike towards her. Written splendidly by Kay who, as we should all know by now, is splendid in her own right. ^^ Honorable mentions: Katherine Minola. Waspish as she is, she’s truly a pleasure to read. A strong character with a fiery personality. Anne de Bourgh. She’s fairly new, but I feel for her already. Her well-known mommadragon doesn’t make things particularly easy for her, but she handles it with grace. An admirable character that I’m growing fond of. Whatcha Gonna DoFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! Johnny and Ponyboy angst, anyone? This thread is so jampacked with action and angst that it merits recognition. Both RPers, Taylor and Ginny, have a truly awe-inspiring writing style, one that’s sure to earn them admiration from the other RP folk. It’s earned them mine, anyway. Personally, I like seeing this new exploration of Ponyboy’s character what with riling the police officer’s anger and getting carted off to prison and whatnot. Johnny, quiet character that he is, is taken along for the ride and his posts are as enthralling as ever. The latest addition of Two-Bit is sure to breathe some humor into that thread and I’m looking forward to seeing this thread progress. Honorable mentions: The Plantagenet Case; an interrogation. Read it and you’ll understand why both Kay and I have praised it. A barrel of laughs, but also incredibly essential to the epic plot developing. You Give Love A Bad Name. There’s a love triangle and a fight. Tension like you don’t know how to deal with. Awesome RPing skills from those involved. Kudos. I nominate: Sherlock Holmes and Dr. James FaustusFor COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHRivals, essentially, but with such a mind-blowing dynamic. For one, both characters are hilarious, each with their own sense of humor. What’s being discussed in that thread is no laughing matter, but I can’t keep a straight face while reading it. They work so well off of each other even when they’re working against each other. They’re definitely a pair to keep your eye on, especially with what’s in store for the future. Or so I have gathered. Honorable mentions: Two-Bit Mathews/Sylvia Hayes/Dallas Winston. It’s a love triangle fueled by shattered relationships. WIN, I tell you. Hal “Hephaestus” Cooper and Katherine Minola. It’s such an odd pairing, people have to be high to actually believe it. Well, we must be high. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?Well, with changes to the mayor’s policies comes certain upset. The cutting of funding for the health sector is sure to incense the financially disadvantaged and those without health care. Our RENT bohemian-esque characters are certainly going to be effected by this and anyone of the low class, really. Maybe there have been protests of some sort illustrating people’s dissent? They love to protest anyway. Nessie would have to write up more on this, though. Along with my ineptness at writing newspaper blurbs, this is an idea that would require the mayor’s elucidation.

Gather round, gather round! Merrill is actually nominating?!? What can I say, the sign is nigh. I nominate:
Hector "Hades" Tormei For MALE OF THE MONTH
Dude. Have you read his one-shot? Gripping, I must say and I absolutely love the way Kay characterizes him. Of course, I am a morbid one and having read a lot on the mafia, Hector is a character I enjoy reading and it's obvious there's been some research done on Kay's part.
Lady Catherine de Bourgh For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
Because snobbish women amuse me. I love reading her, because rich, snappy, old ladies are always so much fun to be around and Lady C is definitely one of them. Her attitude towards her daughter is a situation I have been involved in so many times and still, I enjoy it.
Wonder Which Saint For THREAD OF THE MONTH
It was quick read (yes, I had to do some last minute stalking or I was about to be banned) and what tickled me was the comment made against Canadians. That is probably what attracted me to this thread.
I nominate:
(Nominees' names Here) For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTH
Er...I know I've come this far, but my brain's fried state has not conjured anything yet.
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
Charlie is writing an article on crime and will submit it to the newspaper. Unless I continue to be a lazyass.

Under threat of death (or just a banning, but that's worse of course) by Alex the Mod, here I go. XD I nominate: Two-Bit MathewsFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Merrill's Two-Bit is amazingly three dimensional, with not just his own brand of wry humour as characterized in the Outsiders canon but also with his fears, hopes, and thoughts that are surprisingly insightful and more than interesting to read about. The element of unreciprocated love he has going on with Sylvia is also gaining a number of fans, me included, as the story goes on. All in all, I'm just loving Two-Bit's characterization in general as displayed in his many threads. Lucy HarrisFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! I don't thread-stalk nearly as much as I should but I still more than enough of Alex's posts to see how absolutely brilliant they are. Her writing style is simply beautiful and never wavers in quality even though her posts are almost always nearing a thousand words. (How she does it, I do not know. xD) You Give Love a Bad NameFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! The heat, passion, and love/hate in this thread is enough to burn through a house. Not to mention a love triangle is involved, and who doesn't love those? Complete with an action-packed fight scene between two guys who used to always have each others' backs, this thread is as epic as one can get, at least in my opinion. I nominate... (Nominees' names Here)For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! I'm pretty much just in total agreement with Kay on this one. xD Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?Ummm... sorry, not this month. Bad Jenny is bad. Freezing fingers don't help.

I nominate: Hector TormeiFor MALE OF THE MONTHHe is incredible to rp with. I had a wonderful time trading barbs with him and look forward to doing so again. I'm also impossibly excited to rp Penelope with him later Lady Catherine de BourghFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHI've lurked a couple of her threads and really enjoy her perverse snobbishness. She's so much fun to watch, and you never get tired of it. It's a Thankless Job For THREAD OF THE MONTH(I want to change my nom after reading this thread through) Hector and Thanatos talking over a dead body is...creepy, yet fun and compelling. You get a real sense of their dynamic, as well as Hector's darker side. It's awesome I nominate: Hector Tormei and FaustusFor COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHAn ongoing partnership, it's always fun (and oddly) compelling to see all the bad things the boys get up to Not to mention that I owe them for their offered future plot collusion with me :hint: Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?Nope. Sorry XD

'Kay. This *might* be done, or I might go back and add my noms for Thread of the Month and Duo of the Month. Or I might forget and remember I was supposed to add them around the time December Awards roll around. And I warn you, I'm in a ramble-y mood. You have been warned. I nominate: Roger DavisFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! WELL. I’m in Hit the Party with a GAS CAN and it’s *fun*. I’m not usually a huge fan of first person POV, but Sammeh rocks it. It’s not a secret that I’m a huge fan of angst, and the whole mixture of Roger’s emotions regarding April come across really well. He manages to be a total jerk to Sylvia (though not unwarranted), but he still seems so tragic and manages to make me feel for him. Plus he’s good at brooding I absolutely love the little bit of interaction I’ve seen between Roger and Mark, as well. There’s such an interesting dynamic between the two. They kind of even each other out, and it’s so obvious why they’re such good friends even though they’re really different. So Kudos to Alexxx/Mark too. Random favorite line of mine from the thread: “Even small fame can be intoxicating as hell when you get enough of it.” It’s cool! ( Other people I wanna mention: Dude. Honestly, everyone I’m RPing with. Dally, Two-Bit, Mark, all of you. Serious, serious kudos. You lot rock.) Joanne JeffersonFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! (I’m totally going through a RENT phase. Can you tell? Anyway.) I’ve always liked Joanne, but I think Kris’s writing really fleshes the character out. Joanne is so clearly loyal and strong. More so, there’s a definite fierceness about her, and I love it. It’s a more subtle fire than I see in a lot of characters (-coughs-), yet no less interesting. Kris has also been a real leader in the thread I have with her; we didn’t establish a whole lot about the relationship between Syl and Joanne, but I don’t think the thread seems nearly as messy as it could’ve been if Kris hadn’t taken charge. She managed to clearly define Joanne as a character and the relationship she and Sylvia have without making it awkward at all. It could’ve been, “Joanne saw Sylvia. Her friend. They met each other at a random party one time. And now they’re friends. But sometimes Joanne thinks Sylvia talks too much.” See that? That right there is writing o’ fail. Kris doesn’t have anything less than win.

That’s right. Y’all better listen. > In all seriousness, I’m glad so many are participating in the nominations this month. Kudos to all. ^^ Tay, I’m proud you braved the nominations this month, but Roger is the current Male of the Month. Thus, he cannot be nominated again this month. You can still include him in “honorable mentions”, but not actually nominate him. Edit that and, if you’ve nothing else to nom for, you’re good.

If Hamlet wants me to nominate I guess I have to. XD Before I do I just want to say a big thank you to those of you who're nominating Lady C...who would have thought she'd be this well liked? =P I nominate:
Hector 'Hades' Tormei For MALE OF THE MONTH
This may look like I'm copying others, but I was bored in Geography today and was thinking of who to nominate (as I tend to think about RC to cue boredom). Hector's name popped up instantly for Male of The Month. Kay portrays him masterfully, with just the right touches of violence and subtlety. That and his recent one-shot gave me CHILLS.
Anne de Bourgh For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
At last Her Ladyship has someone to gripe about. XD Haha, in all seriousness, I'm thrilled with the addition of Anne de Bourgh to the City; Bella plays her with flair and really made the character her own and gave her a voice (a meek one, but it's a start). =P Not only this but Bella herself is a very pleasant and charming person; I love talking to her. (:
The Plantagenet Case; an interrogation For THREAD OF THE MONTH
I am not at all biased. -shifty eyes- In all seriousness, this thread is brilliant. Both of them, that is to say the doctor and the detective, made me laugh uncontrollably, although, as I'm sure one of you lovely people mentioned, this is no laughing matter. Both Tichy and Yols play their characters with such skil, and the interview style they've chosen to adopt really bring the characters into clearer focur for me. I luff eet. <3
I nominate:
Harry 'Hamlet' Chandler & Katherine Minola For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTH
I love reading their interactions together in 'Miracles Don't Happen'; they play very well off each other and are both played with such finesse. I can't wait to see more from them. ^^
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
An updated political review...and perhaps...an announcement...of some kind. Must check with Steph on that one. -shifty eyes-
As for the idea of a protest Alex; great idea. I'll be sure to work that in! Is it sad I heard the TV mention, in quick succession '...higher taxes....cuts...protests...' and thought of RC? XD
