Hi, my name is Meaghan and this is my first character. I found this site through Taylor, better known as Sylvia. She kept telling me how awesome this site is. Something you should know about me is I love RPing and I'll definitely try to do my best. I've been RPing for The Outsiders for over a year but I've RPed as nobody but Soda. So I might not post too much until I get the hang of Darry. Oh, and also, I get distracted really easily, I can be random, and I'm very lazy.
Canon: The Outsiders
Custom Title: Chances won't escape from me.

Play By: Patrick Swayze
PERSONALITY
General personality: Darry's not the best at showing how he feels about anything and is often rough without meaning to be. He's not very good at showing he cares, either. He's just not very good at mushy stuff, period, and you'll never, ever find him sitting around and talking to somebody about what he's thinking or feeling or anything. But he loves Ponyboy and Sodapop more than anything in the world and would happily give up everything just to give them a better life, which is one of the reasons he took custody of his brothers and gave up college after his parents' death without a second thought.
The death of his parents definitely changed Darry's life. It changed the way he interacted with his brothers- he had to step out of the "big brother" role and instead become their substitute parent, which was really hard for him. He didn't like having to get mad at them over things he too did as a teenager, and he didn't like having them get mad at him. He tries to raise them as best he can and keep them out of harm's way. He tries to remember that he can step back into that big brother role once in a while, too.
Likes: (please list at least three)
Dislikes: (please list at least three)
Strengths: football, fighting, loyalty
Weaknesses: impatient, showing people that he cares about them, sometimes forgets to try to understand his brothers' side of the story when they get into an argument.
BACKGROUND
Family:
Father (deceased)
Brother- Sodapop
Brother- Ponyboy[/ul]
He considers the rest of the gang to be his family, too.
Education: High school diploma. Unable to go to college.
Occupation: His day job is roofing houses. Works some nights and weekends unloading trucks at a warehouse as his second job.
Worst past experience: The night the cops knocked on the door and told he and his brothers that their parents died, and his mother and father's funeral.
Best past experience: Going to the state championships with his high school football team.
Image: People are intimidated by Darry when they first meet him, but he won't hurt you unless you give him a reason to.
History: Darry became the eldest Curtis boy on January 5th. He was the pride and joy of this parents, and his father began teaching Darry how to play football almost as soon as he could walk. Darry developed a love of the game early in life. Almost three years later, Sodapop came along, a little ball of energy. And Darry, elated to have a little brother, allowed Soda to tag along and follow him around. The two of them did everything together. Two years later, Pony came along, and Darry was happy to have another little brother he could teach how to play football, how to fish and hunt, and things like that. Darry absolutely loved being a big brother. Darry and his brothers met the rest of the gang- Two-Bit Mathews, Steve Randle, Johnny Cade, and Dallas Winston when Darry was in middle school, and those four boys quickly became part of the Curtis family.
When Darry went into high school, naturally he joined the football team. He managed to snag a college scholarship. He started taking classes at the community college after graduation first, however, planning on transferring to Oklahoma State when he saved up the rest of the money, which he worked on by working as a roofer part-time. However, those plans changed the night his parents died. He took custody of Pony and Soda without hesitation, dropped out of his college classes, and asked his boss to take him on full time. After a couple of months, he got his second job at the warehouse, to help make ends meet.
Darry sometimes forgets that Pony doesn't think the same way he does and that he feels things differently, and as a result the two of them end up getting into many arguments. He's just looking out for Ponyboy, though. He wants to do right by his brothers, and wants to raise them like his parents raised him. He sees the potential his little brother, both of his little brothers, have and he wants the two of them to be the best they can be. The two of them sometimes unknowingly pull Soda into the middle of their arguments.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample: The alarm clock went off, blaring in that annoying way all alarm clocks do. It was 5:45am, and if Darry wanted to have time to shower, eat breakfast, and get to work on time, he had to get up before the sun. He got out of bed, leaving the warmth of the blankets, and made his way to the bathroom. He stood in the shower and let the warm water wash over him for a few minutes, thinking about the house they were roofing today. A storm was in the forecast for a few days from now and the boss wanted the roof finished by then, so they were all gonna have to work double time. Just the thought made his muscles ache.
He shut the water off before all the hot water was gone and stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around his waist. He opened the bathroom door, letting the warm air that had fogged up the glass of the mirror escape.
"Soda!" He called, banging on the door of the bedroom his younger brothers shared. "Soda, shower's open. Pony, get up and I'll give you a ride to school." He heard no movement coming from behind the door as he went into his own room to get dressed. He shook his head and grinned; the house could fall down around them or go up in flames and those two would still be sleeping. How they could have so much energy during the day and still be tired enough to sleep so much was beyond him.
He started cooking breakfast, and the smells of the bacon and eggs was what woke his two crazy brothers in the end. He heard Soda turn the water on in the bathroom and he heard Pony shuffling around getting dressed in his room. He came into the kitchen a second later, yawning and rubbing sleep from his eyes.
"Morning, Pony," Darry said, putting a plate of eggs and a glass of chocolate milk in front of him. "Sleep well?"
