Hi, my name is Fish and this is my first character. I found this site through an ad on RPG-D. Something you should know about me is thatI’ve been a self-proclaimed Sherlockian for about 10 years, now..

Canon: The Sherlock Holmes short stories and novels.
Custom Title: Man of Habit.
PHYSICAL
Age:37.
Gender: Male.
Appearance:Mycroft has a yo-yoing weight problem. At best he’s a broadly cut figure, and at worst he’s fairly rounded. Even so, his face and his brow in particular always manage to retain their angularity. Mycroft also inherited the Holmesian hawk-like physique.
Height:6’4”.
Body: Always very broad, and in varying states of fitness.
Other distinguishing features: Mycroft has a captivating countenance.
Wardrobe:He dresses sharply, usually expensive suits. Simply cut, but elegant, well known brand names.[/ul]
Play By: Jarvis Cocker.
PERSONALITY
General personality: Generally something of a cynic, the one true exception to this is his brother. Mycroft is quick, sharp, the kind of person one tends to banter with rather than converse. That is to say, on the rare occasion that Mycroft deigns to put himself in such a social situation.
He’s often sarcastic, and sometimes argumentative, and lacks real-world practicality. Not the best combination, in all honesty, and one of the reasons he’s so socially uncomfortable.
Mycroft can be arrogant, and often fails to consider what other people say or think about a situation; mainly because it’s difficult for him to relate to them.
Likes:
Dislikes:
Strengths: An uncanny ability to retain facts and figures; powers of deductive reasoning; dedication to his brother.
Weaknesses: Most social situations in general; inability to do anything without extensive planning; impracticality which can sometimes have very real consequences.
BACKGROUND
Family:Father: Siger Holmes. Mother: Violet Sherrinford. Younger brother: Sherlock Holmes.
Education: A college degree in accounting. (Further explained in History.)
Occupation: Freelance secret service agent.
Worst past experience:Trying to handle Sherlock during his phase of heavier drug use.
Best past experience: It’s difficult for him to pick just one, but if he had to choose, it would be the day he was most recently promoted.
Image: People underestimate Mycroft, constantly. He lacks the ego his brother possesses, and often times would rather be seen as an idiot than go out of his way expending energy to prove a point.
History: Even at a young age, Mycroft Holmes was a child of extraordinary habits. Regimented daily activity, a time and a place for everything. Any upset in his routine was an obstacle to be overcome. A setback, if you will. This, combined with a continuous lack of energy put Mycroft at odds with his school mates. Or, perhaps, Mycroft put himself at odds in the first place.
The arrival of a younger brother shortly after completion of the first grade was definitely an upset in routine. Albeit, as fortune would have it, an incredibly lucky one. Mycroft’s brother Sherlock proved invaluable to him, in the way that younger brothers often do.
Despite the two having personalities which were largely at odds, Sherlock proved himself a kindred spirit to Mycroft; someone who could understand what it was like to notice everything in a room at once. It was with the help of his continuous routine and the companionship of his brother that Mycroft finished his schooling with top-rate marks.
After traditional schooling, Mycroft went to study accounting at university, although the necessity of this further education was debatable. Incredibly gifted with numbers and figures, he was likened more than once by his own professors as a ‘human computer’. While college life proved less than interesting, it did allow him most of the day to himself.
During his second year at university Mycroft and a couple of other accounting, English and history majors who shared his distaste for the popular social scene founded the Dio-Genes club, which met every day in the loft in the student housing complex.
After this, a good deal of Mycroft’s professional career becomes hazy. But, as his brother puts it, he operates ‘on a freelance basis’. Otherwise, little has changed. Mycroft is still a man of many habits, he still stays at home whenever possible, he still exhibits his characteristic lethargy. With one very large exception.
Sherlock moved to New York. At first, Mycroft made due. But over the next year, he found himself worrying more and more about what it was that his younger brother was getting himself in to. He resisted the temptation to follow him to America simply due to the fact that he couldn’t find the energy to do so. However, when a career opportunity arose in the U.S., he could no longer justify staying apart.
He summoned the energy, and moved- at least for the forseeable future- to New York City.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:He’d only been there a week and a half, and already the servers at the Grand Sichuan knew him by name and by face. Whether this was down to the regularity of his visits (five thirty, every other night of the week,) or the fact that on his first visit Mycroft had kindly informed a hovering shift manager that he’d better end his affair because surely his wife was catching on, he didn’t know. But that was hardly important.
There was no need to look at the menu. He ordered as he sat, one of the few out for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Lounging easily at his corner table, Mycroft hummed a tune under his breath, eyes hooded, foot swinging easily. He was exhausted, truly exhausted, so Mycroft was thankful for the fact that this particular spot wasn’t usually frequented, except for on the weekends. There was nothing worse than trying to enjoy a good meal, but being constantly interrupted by businessmen, noisy families… all the people who were so happy to wear their entire lives out on their sleeves.
All so brief. Fleeting. All so very, very obvious.
