Hal shrugged with a grin. "Don't need to be juicy. Just needs to be interesting. You tell me somethin', and I'll tell you somethin'," There was only one wing left so he wiped his hands clean. The last wing was Katherine's.
See? He did have manners.
"Want me to start? When I was little, I wanted a pet rabbit," Hal turned his body to face her more fully and leaned against the bar. He held his drink in one large hand and the other picked at his fraying pants.

Katherine smiled mischievously. Okay, let the game begin, she thought as she sorted through her memories for an appropriate story.
"When I was in 8th grade, I kicked a boy in the crotch when he called me a runt. It was my first detention. Turns out it did me a world of good, since boys never bothered me again that year. " She grinned broadly. "Girls though...well let's just say I probably set a record for detentions that year." She smirked at that memory, her first taste of power, of striking fear into people, or at least trying to. Being the pip squick in class , she wasn't exactly intimidating. That's where her temper and sarcastic, sometimes vulgar, wit came through.
Looking over at the basket, she noticed that Hal had left her the last wing. "Thanks," she said with a smile as she took it and began to nibble.
She spoke up between bites, "So what about you Hal? Do you have any interesting stories?" She wiped her fingers on a napkin as she waited for a reply...

"Interesting story...hmm," Hal tapped his chin thoughtfuly. One more sip and his beer was gone. He motioned to the bartender. "Scotch, please. Need something a little stronger if we're tellin' stories," Hal chuckled to himself. While trying to think of a story, he swivled his stool back and forth. He could feel it catching with each twist and knew it was probably squeaking but couldn't hear it over the loud music.
"When I was twelve years old, I passed a girl, Marianna Hayes, a note. It was one of those check yes or no deals. She gave me the note back but she didn't check one of the boxes. Instead, she told me to meet her by the swingset on Sunday afternoon because it was stupid to answer on a piece of paper. So, I showed up, so did she," Hal grinned at the memory. "It was my first kiss. She laid a big on me then spent the rest of the day teaching me how to make daisy chains,"
"Your turn Minola,"

Katherine burst out laughing "The badass making daisy chains? I would have loved to see that one. Unfortunately my luck with the opposite sex hasn't been so good." She smirked as she thought back to that night when she was 16.
"My parents were gone for the Saturday evening until the Sunday afternoon the and my sister had a bunch of friends over for pizza and movies. And booze nicked from the liquor cabinet. Anyway, not wanting to stay in my room all night and hoping to get some pizza out of it, and I crashed the party. I somehow got suckered into playing Spin the Bottle. To this day I cannot conceive how that came about." Katherine chuckled as she took another sip of beer.
"So whenthe bottle finally landed on me, with a boy my sister had a crush on no less, I was less than excited. The boy said I was freaky and wouldn't kiss me for anything. I promptly told him that I was only there for the pizza and would be more than happy to incapacitate him if that's what it took. He took the easy way out, and no one would let him - or me - live it out for at least a week."
She smiled at Hal. "Do you think you can top that one?"

"Oh I can top it. Brace yourself," Hal grinned and winked. "When I was 14 I played spin the bottle. I spun the damn thing and it landed on my best friend. We had rules then that you couldn't back out so I ended up kissing him. 'S name was Peter, by the way. Turns out, he was gay and thought that I was too since I didn't put up a stink about it. He came out of the closet to me and we dated secretly for three months,"
"Not that I'm queer or anything. I'm totally straight. I just managed to experiment early on pre-leg loss,"

(OC: Sorry it's short. Don't have much time today.)
Katherine laughed at Hal's unusual childhood tales.
"Ho, I think you win. Though everyone thought I was gay for most of my senior year, because my of rep for beating up anyone who pissed me off, especially the cheerleaders. God I hated them so much. So irritating."
Katherine sighed and drank down her beer. She looked up and smiled at Hal.
"So, do you want to share anymore stories about your personal life, or is it time to wrap up? I really should check on my friend. I probably need to peel her ass off the bathroom floor by now." She chuckled softly as she wited for Hal to reply.

Hal glanced at his watch and flinched. "Jesus, it's late!" Hal smiled at Katherine. "Time sure flew, huh? Can I...see you again sometime?" Hal would be lying if he said that he didn't have a good time. Katherine was a breath of fresh air with just enough sarcasm to keep it interesting. Hal shifted on his stool just enough so that he could reach his wallet. Throwing a wade of bills on the bar to cover the food, their drinks, and tip, Hal stood and gave Katherine his best smile.
"You were a real lifesaver tonight. If you hadn't been siting here, I probably would have ended up drunk, dragging my sorry ass home," Hal held out a hand to shake.

Katherine smiled and took Hal's hand "I owe you too. I'm glad my temper didn't keep you away I would've been miserable all evening otherwise. I'd like do this again too." She blushed a little as she handed Halher business card "My cell's on here. Feel free to give me a call any time in the evening.
She felt awkward giving a man she'd just met her number But she liked Hal And for whatever reason, he liked her. Besides, he made a good bar buddy when Dina left her alone.
"See you later then" Katherine waved goodbye as she turned and headed to the women's bathroom to dig out Dina...
