Penelope sighed exasperatedly. "Okay, This had better be worth it, Doc. Here's my number. Call me with the details". She handed Faustus a piece of paper from her purse on which she jotted down her number. She gave him a saccharine small and turned back to the doctor and his parrot, hoping that she was down with the other for the time being.
"Animal linguistics? Why not? I've always imagined that animals have as much to talk about as we do Don't you think? You says meowing or barking aren't animals talking politics with each other?" She smiled politely at the Doctor, waiting for him to continue Now THIS man was interesting, someone she actually hold a conversation with, rather than just milk him for money or contacts, like Faustus. His faux "charm" was beyond irritating in even average-sized doses...

Doolittle decided to ignore Faustus, as he had been used to similar comments. It seemed as if he most often got mocking disbelief when he mentioned his unorthodox area of study. However Polynesia wasn't about to feel so generous, especially when her nemesis was involved.
"OF course he does, he's talking to you isn't he?" She replied in a biting tone."
"Now Penelope, that's a misconception most people seem to have. I've found that most animal languages are nowhere near as complex as human languages. Say English or Latin for example. Most species don't have the brainpower for it..."
"Like our mutual acquaintance Dr. Faustus, I'm surprised he can even understand English, much less be anywhere near bilingual."
John turned to the parrot for a brief moment. "I would appreciate not having any interruptions, Polynesia." Then he resumed his little talk.
"Now the closer the animal's intelligence level is to humans the more complex their language should be. In fact part of my current project includes mapping out the Pushmi Pullyu's linguistics. Since they have double the cranial capacity of any animal they may be even smarter than humans.
Another fact that the general public isn't aware of is that most animals with the exception of birds, often communicate through body language as well as vocalizing."

Penelope nodded. "That makes sense to me. That's why you can teach a parrot or a raven to mimic human language. Or is it a crow? They're technically the smartest of the bird species, right?"
She turned to the Pushmi-Pullyu. "So have you started investigating your hypothesis on that one? it seems like it'd be quite the study, Doctor."
((OC: Sorry it's so short. My brain's kind of fizzled on this one ^^'))
