"I... not exactly. I think they have a problem with me."
"I see,"
Claudius did his best to look sympathetic, but in truth he wan't surprised, considering how different she was to the others he'd seen that morning. But who said being different was a bad thing?
"Do you have a problem with me, Mr. Chandler?"
Claudius chuckled; he wasn't sure whether she was joking or being serious but the question amused him regardless.
"Not at all, Miss Heart," he said, with what he hoped was an encouraging smile. "And I don't think management should either."
He wasn't quite sure why he was being so encouraging and polite to this Heart woman, but he couldn't exactly take back what he'd just said.

"Well good," Adrienne said tartly, and gestured towards the door. "You can send the next bloke in on your way out."
She was flirting with him shamelessly now, but they seemed to have a rapport -- she wasn't going to miss an opportunity to befriend him, and there was only one way that Adrienne knew how to befriend or otherwise impress people. She wasn't seriously gunning for him, she had told Reed she would at least make an attempt at monogamy, but she was incorrigible.
And largely unaware that she was doing it, now, it was so much her habit. She reached over to roll a pen back and forth on the desk between them.

"Well good. You can send the next bloke in on your way out."
Claudius laughed, all the more amused by Miss Heart now she seemed less nervous around him.
"I never said you were suited for management, Miss Heart," he replied. "I think your talents are more suited to your current line of work."
Had Cladius been slightly more focussed he might have cottoned on to what Adrienne was up to; he'd seen it all before. But as things stood he was simply glad to have found someone in this company with a bit of life in them, not just going through the motions as so many others did.

"Well, on that we are agreed," she laughed. He wasn't all that frightening, she decided firmly. The office girls had been squirming all morning, the ones that had been to see him already had described him as stern. He'd fired one of them, and that had certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons.
"Will you be making many changes?" she asked curiously.

"Well, on that we are agreed,"
Claudius nodded.
"I'm glad. I've met a great many people who don't feel qualified for their professions yet profess that they do; it's a welcome change."
"Will you be making many changes?"
Adrienne was curious, that he could tell. And she had every right to be, what with a change in management. He wondered momentarily if she was worried about her position (considering he'd fired a few people already that morning) but judging from their current thread of conversation he reasoned she shouldn't be.
"It all depends," he said, after considering the question. "I need to see a bit more of the company first before I decide what needs to be altered."

"I See."
Adrienne didn't see. Not really. But she wasn't concerned, either. The magazine was so much not in her political realm that she considered almost any change to be an acceptable one, so long as she was safe. She waited for a moment, regarding him carefully before she spoke again.
"...will that be all, or...?"

"I See."
Claudius could tell just by looking at her that Adrienne didn't really see..but he wasn't about to point that out. He simply nodded again.
"...will that be all, or...?"
He laughed again, though he was quite unsure why.
"Yes, that will be all Miss Heart." He stood, offering his hand for her to shake again. "You can send in the next bloke on you way out."
