Hi, my name is Katie and this is my Third (Replacing one XD) character. I found this site through an ad originally, I think. Something you should know about me is my favorite non-Broadway artists are Taylor Swift and Drew Sarich...even if Drew DOES do Broadway XD.
Canon: Rent [Original Character]
Custom Title: in the eyes of a young girl
PHYSICAL
Age: 19...almost 20
Gender: female
Appearance: Carson is a very pretty girl. She has wide, angular, yet wide blue-green eyes surrounded by thick, dark lashes. Her hair is blonde, a bit darker at the roots currently, and curly falling halfway to her waist. Her nose is rounded and her lips are full and not too large for her face. Her forehead is wide and skin is clear. She has long arms, legs, hands and fingers, which help in playing piano. She is tall, just above average height. Her shape is thin, very thin (but not to the point of illness) but she has curves in the right places.
Height: 5'5"
Body: Pretty darn Thin, yet curvy
Other distinguishing features: Faint/Vivid scars from injuries given to her by James Milford her, now ex boyfriend. Currently, her arms are covered by ace bandages which cover cuts and stitches from the last time. Her legs, stomach, back and pretty much every place on her body are all bruised and battered too.
Wardrobe: Carson likes to be comfortable but still look cute. Her style is almost hippie sometimes. She loves flowly sun dresses (usually in whites and creams) paired with a pair of boots or some kind of cheap or old and battered converse but she can usually be seen in a pair of worn jeans and a tee shirt. Recently, she's found a love for hoodies and sweaters because she can get them over sized and they can hide the scars on her arms and they're really comfortable. She is always seen with her guitar, or playing a piano, if there's one available. Everything she wears she found in thrift shops and she loves the well-loved feel of the pieces. [/ul]
Play By: Taylor Swift
PERSONALITY
General personality: Carson has hardened herself. After how James has treated her for the past year and a half (maybe longer, she won't tell anyone exactly how long). She won't let anyone pay her a complement or and basically hides in music because James started getting into her life by saying she was "pretty", "beautiful" and all that crap then told her she wasn't beautiful or anything close to it, let alone pretty, according to him. Now, she won't let anyone call her any of those things. She has no confidence since James did that to her and beat her. She's been known to even punch someone if they pay her a complement [you've been warned...just saying...]. Her goal in life is to perform somehow, maybe as a recording artist or maybe even in theater. She did the high school plays before James' beatings started getting worse. She has talent in performing, if not the bravery to do it. She enjoys playing guitar and piano too and even tries writing songs every now and then, even if she's not good at it.
When you get past her newly hardened exterior, Carson is just like every other nineteen (almost twenty) year old. She gets excited over new songs she's learned to play and really likes performing. She hates being stuck in the hospital because she can't play music or perform then. She does have her moments when she acts totally her age and just needs help but even then, she won't admit it.
Performing takes Carson out of herself. She just loses herself in the music and it takes her away from all the pain, all the hurt, everything. Off stage, she can be shy and almost seem like she wants to just stay away from everyone (honestly, in fear they'll turn out like James). For the most part, she just stays quiet and doesn't usually make eye contact. While working on a performance, she'll have her face buried in a script, notebook or anything that could keep her eyes down and away from people. She likes feeling like she can disappear and just be invisible for a while, especially since she hasn't found anyone yet she wants to let see her, the real her. Carson also has an urge to help people in anyway she can. When she can't, it almost kills her inside. It's a need she has to comply to but she tries to help in anyway she can (within reason. she won't like do something completely illegal for someone but she'll help how she can).
Quotes, frequently used expressions: "You're full of shit." - When someone tells her she's hott, pretty...ect.
"I can't tell you...you wouldn't believe me anyway..." - If someone asks her where her cuts and bruises came from.

History: It was the hottest day of June, June 27th, and Robert and his second wife, Amy, welcomed Carson Lenore Davis into the world. She was Robert's second child and Amy's first. Robert had a son by another woman, Anne, named Roger who was Carson's older half-brother. She had an average childhood. The highlights included visits from her older half-brother. They were always close from her earliest memories. She didn't get to see too much of him because he lived with his mom but as soon as she learned how to write, they started writing to each other. Apart from writing to Roger as much as she could, Carson started to discover a love for all things creative, particularly music. For her seventh birthday, Roger bought her her very own guitar. She doesn't play as well as he does and she doesn't write her own music but she enjoys playing.
At school, Carson had a core group of friends, Bel, Alice, Chloe and Linda (known as Lindy). They were like the three musketeers, only there were five of them. They were almost like sisters...then Lindy moved to Japan with her family for her father's job and Alice moved to across the country. Soon, it was just Carson, Bel and Chloe...until Chloe died in a car accident. Carson and Bel wouldn't speak to anyone but each other for about three months. They were practically like sisters. They only ate lunch together and hung out together until they started high school. Carson started straying more towards the music and theater scene and Bel to the cheerleaders. Before she knew it, Carson was alone in high school. She didn't really fit in with the theater/music scene at their high school because they just did it for fun, they weren't serious about it like she was so she had no real friends there and Bel was having the time of her life with the cheerleaders...until Bel came over to Carson at lunch and told her that James Milford, the quarterback, was asking about her and wanted to ask her out.
Carson was practically in shock. The quarterback, the most handsome, smart, funny guy at school (in her opinion), wanted to ask her out? A few days after Bel told her, James made the move and asked her out to the movies. After their first date came the winter formal, spring formal, homecoming and prom. Every event that their school had, James asked Carson to. The cheerleaders, including Bel, were shocked that the quarterback was with someone who wasn't a cheerleader, which is what was expected of him.
Their first five months of dating were pure bliss for Carson. She was on cloud nine...until things started changing. If Carson said she had play rehearsal or something, he would get angry she couldn't do what he wanted. She just thought he was having a bad day, week, month...months, what ever. Then he started hitting her and that escalated. Hospital visits became her norm, even if she had a bit of a fear of hospitals. She wouldn't tell anyone what was going on, not her parents, her half-brother who she wrote to every so often, anyone. Bel had a feeling something was wrong when Carson started missing school more and more. When confronted about it, Carson would make excuses for James.
Carson thought she loved him so she never told anyone he was hurting her. People knew something was up but she'd always give them the same answer. "Nothing's wrong. Everything between me and James is great." She said that lie so many times it seemed true. Lies have that effect on people. James' lies were having their effect on Carson wither people saw it or not. He told her she was the furthest thing from beautiful, one of the ugliest girls he knew at school. It took the MANY times he said it to sink in but when it did, it became firmly rooted and wouldn't let go. They went through their senior year with things getting worse and worse, even if they won cutest couple in their senior superlatives. Carson graduated with the music medal in her possession and offers from different music schools and James with football scholarships coming out his ears.
About a month after they graduated, James hurt Carson so bad, she ended up in the hospital for two weeks. She couldn't lie this time and say she just "fell downstairs" or something. She had to tell her parents what was going on. Also, she told them she was going to leave. Her parents didn't want her to but they knew she made up her mind and would go with or without their blessing. As soon as she was released from the hospital, she went home and packed her things. When she was almost done packing, she called her childhood best friend, Bel and she finally told her everything and that she was leaving. Bel didn't want her to leave but she promised not to tell James where she went. With her trail being covered, Carson made her way to New York City to begin her life again in a place where she truly feels like she belongs. To make money for herself, she decided to try her hand at photography, something she's always had a secret knack for but never thought she'd use except for her own purposes, purely recreational, but people seem to like her pictures and have purchased one or two every so often, if they liked them enough. She purchases second hand camera and feels like they express more with their film where digital pictures dare to go.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample: (reply as Carson from another site...it's two years old...to see how I write now, see Meg or Emma posts)
Carson noticed her reflection in the window as she looked out it. After traveling, the remains of the bruises and the black eye from James could be seen. She sighed. Was she ever going to be rid of them? She looked down. She had pulled up the sleeves of the gray sweat jacket she wore over a teal shirt up to her elbows and she realized the remains of those bruises could also be seen. She pulled them down slowly for the bruises still hurt. She leaned over for a moment and made sure the gray leggings she wore on her thin legs under a black skirt were covering her knees, which has a little band-aid on one knee (which she wanted to hide) but not from James. Carson was a major klutz. She got that by tripping and falling on a curb back in Scarsdale.
Carson sighed as she stood back up. She ran a hand through her blonde hair. She figured she'd better go and surprise Roger. She hadn't told him she was moving there. It was spur of the moment and just to get away from James. She was just about to turn back from her window when she was startled by a familiar voice. "Carson?!" She jumped as she heard his voice. She hadn't seen Roger since he moved to New York. She was sure their mother probably sent him her school picture, like she did to everyone in the family. She turned around, eyes wider than normal in surprise. She relaxed a bit as she saw it was definitely Roger. His hair was longer than it was the last time she saw him, of course since she hadn't seen him in a while, and he looked a bit thinner but he was still her big brother. "Roger." she sighed in relief, "Hey." she greeted, running a hand through her blonde curls again, "You scared the shit out of me." She laughed. She hoped he wouldn't notice the remaining bruises or black eye on her face.

Okay, I hope my answers good for this. This question honestly scares me. I know Carson would fit in here but ask me to explain it...that makes me nervous if I can find the right words or now. I'm an singer/actress first and foremost so bear with me. Carson just got out of the worst relationship anyone could have, an abusive one. He's pretty much recked her image to herself, shattered her internal mirror if you will. She hides in her music and photography, which she does to pay the bills. Even since James practically ruined her, she loves people. She loves helping people and having friends (even if she didn't have many back home. She's tries to look for the good in people and just wants a new start.
I took the notes Tichy gave me to heart while I redeveloped Carson. What I mean by "redevelop" is that I pretty much had to rediscover this girl. She reminds me a lot of myself with her strength and will...and stubbornness. Unlike her, I have never been in an abusive relationship, fortunately, so we are unlike in that way. She's been in my head for about five-six years (she came from me listening to "One Song Glory" for the first time when I was about 14 (I'm now 19) and thinking Roger had a younger sister because of the line "...glory, in the eyes of a young girl, a young girl...". I didn't know the story or anything about April and I was perfectly happy to believe Roger had a younger sister who saw him as a rock star, like any little sister would about their older brother with an age difference like theirs. She went through many names, Hannah and Vanessa are the ones I remember most before I heard the name Carson for a girl and it just fit. I haven't found a site where I thought she'd fit in till now. Sammeh and I have been having Carson and Roger exchange letters and RP through PM on and off since I joined and then Alexx and I got talking and it was decided Mark and Carson could have threads and even a plot. My Carson and Sammeh's Roger fit together SO well and Alexx and I played a bit with Carson and Mark and they jelled, so to speak. And then I just knew. I knew this was finally a place Carson could fit and I could have fun with her. I tried her in various places here and there over the years since she just popped into my brain but she never really fit in. Here, I think, is where she could finally have her fresh start. This is also where I had my fresh start. For since my first RP site I joined went under about two years ago, I'd been on various sites with mean staff and members. I'd either delete my character or go inactive and get deleted so I didn't have to go on there anymore. When I found here, I knew that it was like that here. After I created Meg Giry, it actually made me excited to RP again (and I'd kinda lost that over my five years of RPing) and you guys actually welcomed my Emma Carew, where most sites were like "no Emma aloud!". This was my new start and I believe it's just what Carson needs and she'll fit in wonderfully here.
