Hi, my name is Gryphon and this is my First character. I found this site through an add on Friends in High Places. Something you should know about me is that I am a writer, artist, knitter, and plotter, and I love mad scientists.
Canon: A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare)
Custom Title: General Havoc Ensues
PHYSICAL
Age: 27 (born June 21)
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Height: 5'5”
Body: Compact build, only modestly curved.
Other distinguishing features: Heart-shaped face with pointed chin and high cheekbones, very much a 'pixie' face. Usually wears an expression that promises mischief. The tips of her ears are slightly pointed.
Wardrobe: Puck's wardrobe varies depending on which 'hat' she is wearing at the time. She chooses clothing to let her blend in to her role like a chameleon. On her own, though, she favors plain black slacks and a green halter top. [/ul]
Play By: Bethany Joy Galeotti
PERSONALITY
General personality:
Robin, or Puck, as she prefers to be called, is a high-energy young woman who has a great deal of trouble sitting still. Highly intelligent and extremely prone to boredom, she likes to play pretend, and has developed several different 'characters' for herself to play. She has the unique ability to disappear into any role and can switch between characters in seconds. Her real joy comes from playing tricks on other people- any prank, joke, or mischief she can pull off, she'll generally give a go. She lives for fun and enjoys playing a role to the hilt, but is close to only a bare handful of people, partly because she rarely cares if her tricks hurt others. What separates her from a psychopath is the fact that she genuinely can feel emotions and does not merely mimic them (though she does this excellently). Puck has little regard for the past, preferring to live in the 'now'. A sensuous woman, she will happily flirt with anyone who catches her eye, male or female. As herself, her loyalty is rarely given but unshakeable once it is. Betray that loyalty though, and she might just kill you....
Some of her favorite 'characters' include:
Wilhelmina 'Will' Benedick- Spunky redhead who likes to flirt and doesn't hesitate to help protect other people from danger. Will was the character Puck played during a stint in Chicago.
Owen Burnett: One of Puck's male characters, a bespectacled blonde executive assistant. She prefers to primarily play female characters, but she has absolutely no qualm about playing a man and the opportunity was too good to pass up. Unlike her others, Owen is the ideal model of the 'straight man', very stiff and rigid, and obsessed with protocol and serving his employer to the best of his abilities. Out of all of her characters, Owen is the most loyal. Puck enjoys the challenge of being Owen because he is so different from herself.
The Hobgoblin: Her stage name and persona, an enigmatic, sexless creature who projects mystery and awe for her audience. This character is the real showman of the lot, delighting in sudden flashes of light and loud sounds to distract her watchers from the trick.
Puck can step into these roles like an actress, to the point that for all intents and purposes, she is that other person. She never breaks character unless she absolutely must- after all, that's part of the game. It does take a short while to physically 'become' a character with makeup, wigs, costumes, and the like, but she can adopt the mannerisms of any of them in an instant.
Quotes, frequently used expressions: “What fools these mortals be.” “Really? Is that the best you've got?”

Strengths: (please name three) Puck has a very acute visual memory- nearly anything she sees she can remember. This is a benefit for both her acting, allowing her to observe and then perfectly imitate nearly anyone she sees, and for learning new magic tricks. She's a strong vocal mimic as well. Between this, her acting, and a charismatic air she can bring up at will, she disappears seamlessly into any role she chooses, making others believe that she is that person. Puck's not entirely certain how she does it, but she exploits it for all it's worth. She's good at slight of hand, and can usually figure out a way to wriggle out of any sort of trouble. She's got a knack for looking someone dead in the eye and lying through her teeth without being caught, so it can be hard to tell whether or not she's telling the truth.
Weaknesses:(please name three) Overconfidence tends to be her primary downfall- she's good at what she does, she knows it, and occasionally her pranks are too ambitious for her own good. In her pursuit of mischief, she's been known to hurt feelings. Most of the time, she doesn't really care. She can be coldly focused, to the point of cruelty. Other people don't really matter to her for the most part, though she doesn't normally go out of her way to be cruel (outside of one of her pranks). She is extremely fond of children, however, and will go to irrational lengths to protect them, even at risk of her own skin. Her lack of concern for most other people can make her extremely vicious and unlikely to hold back if things come to a confrontation, though she usually tries to avoid confrontations.
BACKGROUND
Family: She doesn't really know, and does not particularly care. She changed her name to Robin Fellows when she turned 18.
Education: Some college education, but most of her knowledge is self-acquired. Her extremely sharp memory let her get away with not paying attention in most classes, preferring to spend her time observing others rather than listen to the actual lessons.
Occupation: Stage magician for the most part, occasionally runs cons as one of her other 'characters', and in others she will find an employer who needs questionable work done. One of her characters, Owen Burnett, was an executive assistant for a wealthy entrepreneur.
Worst past experience: She has many bleak memories of boredom at the orphanage she lived at between the ages of eight and eighteen years of age.
Best past experience: She treasures all her memories of successful tricks, though she does particularly love how she pulled one over on a powerful New York business tycoon. She doesn't brag about this one much, but there are rumors that there were gargoyle statues involved.
Image: She's hard to read, but when she's in a good mood and likes someone, she's quite fun to be around. Just don't expect her to be especially sympathetic in most cases. She's more likely to cut her losses and move on. She has a mysterious air to her, but is loyal when she gives it to someone.
History:
Nothing about Robin Fellows's past can be verified before the age of eight. She was discovered sitting outside the gates of the Circle of Hope Children's Orphanage one day, and when questioned about why she was there she would only say that Oberon and the faeries didn't want her anymore. The girl was quiet and watchful, revealing little about herself. Her story never changed, no matter how many therapists tried to convince her that she could not possibly have been abandoned by faeries.
Robin spent the next ten years at the orphanage, refusing to meet with potential adoptive families. She did middling well in school, more due to boredom than anything else as she was in truth a voracious learner and reader. The one area she excelled at in school was drama- even as a youngster she had a truly uncanny knack for acting, able to make everyone believe that she was the character she was portraying. In her teens she started developing her own personas to play with, 'becoming' these made-up people for the sheer amusement of being someone else. One of these personas, Puck, was very much a trickster. Robin loved being Puck, to the point where she spent more and more time 'being' her, until Puck became her default personality around age fifteen.
Robin, now called Puck, turned her attention to studying stage magic, illusions, and stagecraft, mostly on her own time. She made a point of taking psychology classes, using what she learned there to help pick apart the minds of others and turn what she learned against them. She even started roaming the streets, studying street cons and performers. For the most part, she kept to herself, taking no close friends. She was happiest when tricking people, whether that be by convincing someone that no, the latest ruckus in the orphanage was not her fault, or on the stage performing magic or acting in a play.
Quite naturally, her favorite play was A Midsummer Night's Dream, where she nearly always managed to land the role of the hobgoblin trickster, Puck. It was her favorite role and she plays it extremely well.
Not the sort to stick around, Puck abandoned the orphanage the minute she turned eighteen, taking a fledgling magic act on the road and supplementing her income with a variety of odd jobs. By age twenty-three, she was moderately successful as a performer, developing the character of 'Hobgoblin' for her act. A year later, for sheer amusement, she created the character of Owen Burnett in order to get a position as an executive assistant for a powerful NYC businessman who dealt with shady people, advanced military R&D, and had an odd penchant for the paranormal. The fact that the position paid extremely well was not lost on Puck. She stayed with Mr. X for a couple of years, serving loyally as Owen, both because the position was a good one and because she was intrigued by her new boss's business practices. He had something of a trickster air to him, and a deep fondness for twisted plots that, no matter how they panned out, put him ahead in some manner. To her surprise, she eventually learned Mr. X had known from the beginning that 'Owen' was not precisely who 'he' said he was. The business tycoon allowed Puck to stay on because of her excellent service, but once it was revealed that he knew the truth about her, the nature of their partnership changed. Puck has a much longer 'leash' now, and doesn't work full-time for him anymore. Instead, she does some contract work for him when he requires it, and for the most part has returned to making a round of New York's theaters as a stage magician and actress, though with a more stable income thanks to Mr. X.
Puck is comfortable in New York, having grown to enjoy the enormous city. For a woman who loves to pull tricks, what better place to be is there besides one of the greatest cities in the world?
(what happened in your characters' life. What were the important events. Make sure you explain what brings them to NYC)
THE SAMPLE
Puck leaned forward towards the mirror, adding the finishing touches to her makeup. She was due onstage in just a moment, and her sharp ears caught the sounds of the audience waiting out in the theater. They were eager tonight, waiting to be dazzled by the magician they had come to see. What feats of fantasy would she perform for them tonight?
Of course, they hadn't come to see Robin Fellows. Nor had they come to see the girl who called herself Puck. They'd come to see the magician, the Hobgoblin.
She tilted her head slightly, staring at her reflection. The makeup was perfect. Now it was time for the final part of her preparation. She had to become the Hobgoblin.
Well, that wasn't hard, now was it? It was just a matter of opening the right door in her head and letting the Hobgoblin out. And that was just what she did. When she opened her eyes again, they were a little greener, a little brighter, a look of ancient mischief playing in their depths. Her teeth almost seemed to have a slight sharpness about them, and the false pointed ears she wore no longer looked false. In her glittering bronze bodysuit, she looked like something from a fairy tale, mysterious and seductively dangerous.
The Hobgoblin grinned and stood. It was time to take the stage.
