The only part of his outfit that he seems to care about is his ties. He is known for having quite an extensive collection and particularly likes the unusual or artsy ones.[/ul]
Play By: Alan Rickman
PERSONALITY
General personality: As a whole, Absol is a very open person. He is both inventive and curious, but he often can be inconsistent. He likes adventurous ideas, but rarely wants to do something adventurous himself. He much rather sit back and let others have the action. Absol has a very deep appreciation for art, emotion, unusual ideas, and curiosity. Even when he does care about something, though, he can come off as indifferent. While this is normally from his rather mellow disposition, he generally isn’t the most interested in the affairs of others.
He is far from being organized, but can still be efficient in his work. Once he gets in the mood to make some art, he’ll do just that. Once he sets his mind on something he is practically impossible to stop. Generally, however, he doesn’t set his mind on anything. He’s mainly just an easy-going and careless kind of guy. He can show self-discipline when needed, but is known for his spontaneous behavior. For the most part, Absol is solitary and reserved. He will normally just stick to himself and paint or draw. Even so, he can become quite energetic or excited about certain topics. He’s known to be quite sporadic when he has become inspired to create new artwork. He is often seen as a pessimist and rarely sees the best in situations. As stated above, though, he can be much more energetic and excited when he is inspired.
While he can be friendly towards others, he reserves most of his compassion for his closest friend. Due to this he can often seem cold and unkind to those that don’t know him well. He can often be uncooperative as well, giving short rude answers or confusing questions. This trait can make him antagonistic and suspicious of others initially. Once he has warmed up to someone, though, he will normally be helpful. Absol is normally confident in his actions and rarely doubts himself. He often can come off as a bit too prideful. Even so, he is sensitive on a few subjects and if he is poked at in the right way he can easily lose his temper.

Strengths: Absol is rather artistic and is quite an accomplished painter. He is generally considered wise and generally can help someone in almost any situation (whether he actually does, however, is a completely different topic). He has a strong control over his emotions and generally will not let him get too attached to anyone or anything.
Weaknesses: His constant smoking in Wonderland has led to some problems in real life. While he smokes far less in the real world, he seems to be addicted to his sleep. If he has gone without sleep for too long, he will often experience signs of withdrawal. He can often be impatient with people and can seem antisocial because of his rude attitude towards others. While he can hold in his emotions well, he has been known to lose his temper when on certain topics. This can often leave him in a sullen mood for the rest of the day. This can make him seem like quite the downer.
BACKGROUND
Family: Albechester Papilio – Father (deceased); Adora Papilio – Mother (deceased); Arianna De Luca – Partner; Benito - Son
Education:Master of Fine Arts
Occupation: Art Professor
Image: Most people see Absol as secluded and eccentric. He is known rather well in the art community for his abstract work. Most of his students think that he is a bit strange, but appreciate his insight and wisdom. In Wonderland he is seen as guiding figure. Some have difficulty seeing past his heavy drug usage in Wonderland however.
History: Absol was born in Rome to a British father and Italian mother. At the age of two, his mother died from a stroke and his father quickly relocated back to England. His father had a good sum of money and made sure that Absol was enrolled into the very best private schools. As time passed, however, his father fell into drinking. Absol continued his schooling, but it was quite evident that he was not a traditional student. He hardly socialized with any of the other children and mainly kept to himself. Teachers did note that he had potential artistic talents though. His normal school work was lacking at best.
Absol progressed through school until the end of high school. By this point, his father’s drinking had begun to escalate and most of the family fortune was squandered. With the family fortune gone, his father began selling off items in the household and eventually the estate itself. With what money that was left, his father decided to move to America with his son. Their family name had been ruined by his father and he tackled the problem in the same way he had done for everything else; by running away. While Absol did not approve of his father’s actions, he knew that there would be almost no way in which he could persuade him. He had always wanted to travel, though, so maybe it wouldn’t be that bad after all.
He had been able to persuade his father to choose New York as their destination. He was still interested in doing art and thought that it would give him an opportunity to get somewhere with his life. He tried to get his artwork out in the artistic community, but quickly found that it just wasn’t getting any attention. He quickly decided that he would need to go to school to improve his work. It was also obvious that his family did not have the means for him to go to school. Then everything changed.
His father soon became terminally ill and passed away. That night seemed almost surreal. He couldn’t place it, but something was different. Eventually sleep overcame him and he was emerged into the world of Wonderland. He found it both exciting and bewildering. To say the least, he had never seen anything like it. The next morning, he wasn’t quite sure what to do. All that he did know was that he felt like painting. Within a few days, he had completed dozens of works, each more imaginative than the last. He decided that it was worth at least sending them to a few art schools. Within days he was getting back requests for him to attend.
He quickly decided to attend and started the first step in his career. In his second year at the school, he met another art student that would change his life. The first time he had seen Arianna, he knew that she was the woman who he wanted to be with the rest of his life. His first attempts to talk with her didn’t really get anywhere, but she soon picked up on his interest and decided to give him a chance. She had been born and raised in Italy and had only recently came to the states. Within a month, they were both madly in love with one another. Even so, both were concerned with their careers and decided to not marry. They decided to continue their relationship, though, and move in with one another.
After Absol finished with his Bachelor’s Degree, he decided that he wanted to go professional. Soon his work was going into museums and galleries across the city. He found his success lacking, however, and soon became transfixed with Wonderland. He started to use drugs heavily in Wonderland and began to gain a reputation there. Even though his passion for his paintings had decreased greatly, he continued to work so he could support Arianna. If there was any one thing in life that he cared for it would still be her and their newly born son Benito. She sensed his growing disdain, however, and tried to persuade him to go back to school and try to renew his passion. While it took two years, he finally decided to listen to her and went back to obtain a Master of Fine Arts.
Within two years he had received his degree, but still had no idea what he wanted to do. While he still loved Arianna, he looked more and more forward to Wonderland each night. He always enjoyed guiding newcomers or at least confusing them a bit. Then he suddenly realized what he wanted to do. He wanted to teach. The next morning he sent his resume to universities across the city. He was quickly accepted to several institutes, but finally decided to take a job at New York University. Over the years he has continued to teach at the university and has made quite a name for himself as the strange art teacher. His son has grown up and has left for college himself, but Absol tries to stay in contact with him from time to time. As for his role in Wonderland, he has remained a prominent force even if it is in the form of a Hookah smoking guide.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample: Absol looked up from his desk and at the class. He had been in the middle of writing a note to himself when he noticed that most of the class had arrived already. As he looked down at his watch, he noticed that it was already ten minutes past the starting time. He supposed he should start the class, especially considering that it was the first day. As he stood up, the class’ chatter stopped. Everyone seemed to be waiting for him to say something. He supposed that would make sense considering he was the teacher. He walked to the front of the classroom and cleared his throat.
”Well,” he started,”I guess I should start the class. Now I’m sure all of you have heard of me by now. If not I am Professor Papilio. That’s butterfly in Latin for those of you that don’t know. Oh but I wouldn’t advise you calling me that; I’m not a big fan of Latin. For those of you that wish to call me something I suppose you should think of something else. Now as for class, I would think that you came here for art. If not, then I suppose you walked into the wrong classroom. Since this is art, I should be able to expect a piece of work by tomorrow, no? If not, maybe this isn’t the class for you. Now go along and do whatever you do. I need to make sure I don’t forget this note.”
He quickly sat back down at his desk and continued to write. As he did, he noticed that most of the class was just staring at him in bewilderment. Maybe he hadn’t been clear enough for them. Either way, he supposed that could figure it eventually. He continued writing, but soon heard footsteps approaching his desk. Apparently someone had a question. Maybe it would entertain him; he doubted it but it was possible. He seemed to get about one student a year that actually interested him. Maybe this year it would start early. As he looked up he was slightly surprised. It was a rather beautiful girl. He would surely have to paint her sometime.
“Hey pops, care to actually, ya know, teach,”said the punkish-looking girl.
“Got some spunk, huh,” Absol responded with a chuckle,” And why would I teach you already? I haven’t been able to see what I have to work with. Judging by the looks of the class, I don’t have much.”
“Do you think you’re funny or something old man?”
“Quite the contrary actually,”he said with a grin,”I think I am quite the bore and am not worthy of wasting the class’ time as of now. After all, shouldn’t everyone be busy making a piece of art. I do believe that there would be one due tomorrow. Maybe I shall look at my calendar.”
“Whatever,” the girl said with a scoff and turned to leave.
“Before you leave, may I ask your name,”asked without looking up from his notes.
“I guess you’ll just have to think of something yourself.”
Maybe this year would be interesting after all.
