Hi, my name is Angel and this is my first character. I found this site through an ad. Something you should know about me is my muse comes and goes.
Canon: Shakespeare
Custom Title: I defy you, stars.
PHYSICAL
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Being at a bit of a young age, Romeo’s physical attributes were not as pronounced as one in his early thirties, but this gave him the looks of a desirable youth. It might be expected, almost, that he would be considered a heartthrob by his peers, or popular in his neighborhood, although if one would spend a minute with him, the scales usually tip, and Romeo was left unnoticed, blended carefully into the mix of the typical American college. But that is a detail for another category, and I must continue on. To start off, Romeo has a marvelous facial structure consisting of a strong jaw line and distinct features- contributing factors to his good-looks that he inherited from his father and mother.
Covering this was an abundant mane of light brown hair of average length. Romeo’s hair was usually unkempt, though there were moments when his tidiness shines through and he would brush it back, just to obtain a semblance of order. His nose was straight and prominent, and has never been broken, since he has not had the luck to be in any fights. Sparkling blue hues were the colors of his eyes. Sapphire blue to cyan, turquoise to azure… Romeo’s eyes were the perfect tools for expressing his emotions, although it was more likely for them to betray him.
Surrounding those were long eyelashes that were almost feminine in quality- something the young Romeo despised fervently. His eyebrows were very expressive as well, frequently scrunching up into a well-used frown, or exemplifying points in his speech. Because of puberty, Romeo has had some pimples in his earlier years- he was not insusceptible to things like that. Though his genes certainly provided for smooth skin, unhealthy habits had triggered acne for the young man. He was now, thankfully, free of the nasty little buggers, though he has a single pockmark left just at his right sideburn. His lips were aptly wide enough for his face, bearing a set of pearly white teeth that were obtained through regular dental appointments and a year of wearing braces.
One look at Romeo’s body and the first thing that might come to mind is athletic. His height of 6’0”, broad shoulders and defined build often leads first-impressions astray, since he does not have any specific sport. The young man’s excellent shape was due largely to the fact that he enjoyed bodybuilding, and he was a bit vain, so looking fit and well body-wise was one of the things he took pride in. Because of this, Romeo’s the sort of young man who managed to make anything look good on him- from the double-breasted suits he would wear to formal occasions, to simple shirts that he donned on casual days.

PERSONALITY
General personality:
A lot of people pick up hobbies earlier in life and continue to harness it until by the time they have finished their adolescent years, they can almost be considered experts in their art. Romeo was one of those people- from the moment he had first opened a book to look at the colorful pictures in Cinderella till the times he would place down a tattered copy of Wuthering Heights; Romeo has always had an interest in love… an interest so pronounced that love stories accompanied him day and night, in his thoughts or in his activities, although he certainly has read books of other genre (he’s a bookworm). It would be safe to say that Romeo was the sort of person who easily falls in love and believes in destiny and soulmates. The thing is, Romeo was such a sucker for love that he has almost no qualifying attributes- or checkboxes, as some would prefer to call them- when it comes to picking a girl. He trusted his life to outwardly appearances- and it’s obvious that majority of the time, he ends up heartbroken. Of course, it doesn’t take too long before he’s up and running again.
Romeo took all of his relationships seriously. Some girls liked his extra attention but ended up with inflated egos, while some would complain that he was suffocating them. Needless to say, Romeo’s had a lot of failed relationships in the past, and although it depressed him, it was one of the things he drew inspiration from. Since he was mostly exposed to books as a child, to avoid being (as his father put it) ‘one of those mindless, inadequate children watching television all day long’, it has become one of Romeo’s dreams to become a successful romance author, a dream that has proved to be a strain on his social skills. Overcome by his desire, he would constantly pepper strangers with questions about their love life, and of course, majority of them become annoyed that he was asking so many things while they did not even know each other. Romeo has a manuscript of his novel, something he kept with him always, and it was the nth draft of his nth story. Normally, he would keep this aspiration to himself- one of the reasons why his intentions were instantly misunderstood.
Bearing the name of Montague was something that was both a blessing and a curse. There were high expectations of him, for he was an only child, and he was a boy, too. The pressures of being subjected to criticism every moment of his life caused Romeo to sneak out with his best friend Mercutio for a worry-free night. Eventually, these events were lessened, although Romeo still has that semblance of insecurity nagging at the back of his mind. He has a tendency to watch his posture and articulate his words evenly, not to mention being chivalrous to guests (ladies in particular). Despite his wide range of reading, Romeo still believed- or would rather believe- that the world revolved around God, his family and him, their rivals, the Capulets, and his never-ending quest for romance… and a publisher. He has no taste for gossip, sports, or politics- unless it was concerning love, like the dreadful tale of a pair of teenagers killing themselves off because of a mix-up. Speaking of which, Romeo preferred to be Catholic rather than an atheist. He truly believed in God and that everything had a reason, and so he couldn’t complain. Romeo had attended Church regularly every Sunday since he was twelve.
The other things that interest him include bodybuilding, card games, and peace. Regardless of the fitness of his body, Romeo has never been in a fight all his life, and avoided it when the situation arose. He was a pacifist, reasoning that everything in the world could be worked out without the need for violence. Romeo could stand being called a coward for not taking on someone half his size, but he could never stand watching someone else fight in his place. Most of the time, his fight-related injuries were because he had been intentionally standing in the way. He has never hurt anyone- physically, at least. God knows how many times he had put his foot in his mouth, and though he was severely apologetic, he couldn’t retract the words that he has said. Academically speaking, Romeo wasn’t someone that always had the highest scores. He maintained average grades, but never near failing. Just to expound on the others mentioned at the beginning of this paragraph, bodybuilding was actually motivated by his want to be more attractive to girls, in hopes of meeting ‘the One’ for him, although vanity was always his cover-reason. The card games were… well, inspired by nothing actually. He just liked to play cards.

BACKGROUND
Family:
Education: New York University; homeschooled in his youth.
Occupation: Works part-time in a bookshop.
Image: Other people see Romeo as the heir to a large fortune, and some laugh at him for taking the hard road by trying to support himself independently, while others admire him, even if he’s a tad bit eccentric.
History:
Romeo was born in New York on the sixth of May- a glorious day for the Montagues to have a son. He was raised spoiled, since all attention and care was devoted to him, and there was a magnanimous amount of money on their hands. He was sociable enough at the time, and everyone thought he was going to be an excellent individual, just like how they viewed his parents, who did well for themselves. As he grew, however, there was a noticeable change in his demeanor: he grew more introverted, spending time with books rather than playing outside. Soon enough, Romeo became the man known today as the slightly peculiar Montague heir. Homeschooling was probably not the right decision for it simply magnified the boy’s timidity, but it was considered to be safer since he was going to be inside the grounds under protection, and not in a farther place. His tutor would frequently bring up the subject of Romeo’s inclination toward love stories in literature, but they had considered it innocent and brushed it off.
As a teenager, Romeo peeked out of his shell. He would traverse the neighborhood, go out to parties (except events like this usually involve him sneaking out), and chat up people he didn’t know. Don’t misunderstand: his eccentricity was still as pronounced as ever, but it had still made him known. He had a name for himself- what had mattered was not that he was not viewed in a good light, but that he had managed to make himself known on his own. He was not recognized as the Montague boy, or the rich kid. He was Romeo Montague. And that was enough to satisfy him. During this point of his life, he would often seek out girls in high school; date them for a while, before they or he broke things off. It was a blow to his pride whenever a girl breaks up with him (not even considering the fact that maybe it was because they viewed him as clingy) so he decided to take up bodybuilding. It attracted the attention of the female populace, yes, but it didn’t change anything about the end of his relationships with them.
Upon graduating from high school, Romeo decided to study at New York University, away from the comfort of their mansion. Obtaining a need to prove that he could survive independently, and that his name has no hold on him, Romeo rented an apartment and took a job in a bookshop to sustain his own expenses. Since he was not that experienced in the real world, he occasionally found himself accepting the allowance from his parents, but still continued the front that he was a working student.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:
It was a slow day.
An air of languorous beauty shrouded the bookshop, and a certain young man found himself unable to resist the temptation to sleep. His hair was more unruly than usual, and his clothes run-of-the-mill, yet it still did not deflect some girls from talking to him earlier that afternoon. The brief encounters momentarily lifted Romeo's spirits, but after several minutes of talking to him, they quickly lost interest. Still, Romeo was glad whenever they buy a book. It was like a matchmaking game to him, almost- matching a person with the book best fit for them. Often, he would peg a genre for customers, and see if he was correct. At that moment, though, there were no customers. He checked the digital watch on his right wrist- I've been here for an hour- and another wave of sleepiness hit him. Oh, well. Maybe it wouldn't hurt if he got a bit of shut-eye for a few minutes.
Romeo eased himself down on a chair behind a bookshelf and fidgeted, trying to find a comfortable position. The chair was hard as rock, and he had found it damn near impossible to settle on it, until he almost slid off with his arms and legs lying in peculiar angles on the ground. Okay, that probably wasn't a good idea, Romeo thought grimly as he raised himself from the floor. He was grateful, as he ran a hand through his hair, that no one had seen him make that failed attempt. Until, that is, his eyes roved to the side and he saw a petite brunette staring at him, seeming as if she was struggling not to laugh. Romeo felt the blood rush to his cheeks. "A-ah," he stuttered awkwardly. "Have you been, ah-"
"Been here for a while?" the stranger finished for him, a light smile playing on her lips. "Yup." Romeo pinched the bridge of his nose. Real smooth, he thought to himself. "Sorry you had to see that, miss," he said, mentally slapping himself for being so careless. All right, that was it, he decided. No more trying to sleep on the job. He took a few steps toward the girl, his head inclining down every now and then as if he couldn't look her straight in the eye. Once he was at a closer distance, he stopped and rubbed his chin sheepishly. "I hope you don't assume that I'm a lazy worker," Romeo uttered, offering a smile. The girl giggled. "Don't worry, I won't tell on you," she winked. She held up a book that dimly registered on Romeo's brain for he had gotten enthralled by her laugh. He noted that she had an NYU shirt on, meaning that there was a chance that they went to the same college together. "So, what brings you here today?" Romeo said conversationally, pocketing his hands. The brunette's eyes darted down. "Oh, I was just about to purchase this book," she replied. "But I think I'm gonna save that for later." Her head rose, and plastered on her face was the brightest smile Romeo's ever seen. His heart thumped hard against his chest.
Hm. Maybe it wasn't such a lazy day after all.
