I'm done with this, however, I don't quite have the post count.
Hi, my name is Maggie and this is my Second character. I found this site through a dream... Something you should know about me is I love this place.
Canon: Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
Custom Title: The Artful Dodger
PHYSICAL
Age: He’s only thirteen, but looks(a little) and acts more like seventeen(if you really look at him, you can tell he’s quite young). He claims to be nineteen, however.
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Height: 4’9”
Body: Skinny.
Other distinguishing features: He’s dirty. His face usually has something on it and there is always dirt under his fingernails. However, he doesn’t smell—that is covered up by cheap cologne.
Wardrobe: He wears jeans, collared shirts, and a business-man-like trench coat—all covered in dirt. [/ul]
Play By: Jonathan Brandis
PERSONALITY
General personality: Dodge is cocky and to be honest, a tad obnoxious. He loves to do what he’s good at because he loves to be praised by anyone and everyone. He’s not afraid of much, but even if he is never going to show it.
He's really likable. He's cute, funny, clever, and loud. NYC is perfect for him because he's such a people person. He loves to interact with and impress everyone around him.
Quotes, frequently used expressions: "Come on, for me?"
Likes:
Dislikes:
Strengths: Pick pocketing, convincing, and oddly, dancing.
Weaknesses: Reading, personal hygiene, and shoe-tying.
BACKGROUND
Family: Dodger’s parents died in a car wreck when he was two. He was passed around foster homes until he ran away at age six. It was six months after that that he met the man he really considers his father—Fagin.
Education: Dodger barely showed up at school when he got the opportunity when he was younger. He can’t read or write very well, but he’s very good at math and anything related to counting money and estimating item value. Fagin taught him most things he knows in that area.
Occupation: Dodge is a thief. He used to be just a pick-pocket, but he’s gotten into bigger and better things. He’ll still swipe a wallet or two when he sees the opportunity, but more often, he steals cars, things from them, and occasionally breaks into a house or two.
Image: Smaller children really look up to him. They find him to be “cool” and smart which makes Dodge beam. Older people usually see through his age façade. They get more impressed when they start talking business. Girls find him to be adorable to his dismay. He'd rather be thought of as a stud.
History: Jack Dawkins was born into a upper-lower class household. His family had their issues—both his parents ran away from abusive homes to start a life together. Their lives together didn’t last long as three years after they got married (two years after Jack was born, they died in a house fire. Jack had no family that wanted to take him so, into foster care he went. Jack was a mischievous child, always taking from the cookie jar, the change jar, people’s wallets… This caused him to be passed from house to house until, one day when he was six; he just didn’t feel like dealing with it anymore.
Jack wandered the streets of NYC for six months, stealing what he needed and sleeping with the other kindly homeless in their cozy abodes. It was all going surprisingly well and safely until one day, he was caught stealing an older man’s wallet. He would have gotten away with it if the man hadn’t been so quick to grab his arm. Jack expected to be taken to the police or hit or something, but instead, the old man gave him an offer. He said his name was Fagin and that he could use him in his business. Fagin gave Jack a place to stay with a few other boys and a girl a few years older than the rest of them. The girl, Nancy, took him under her wing and taught him easier ways to pick pocket and a bit how to act and come up with excuses. As Jack got better, he didn’t need Nancy’s help as often and it wasn’t long until he became so good at pick pocketing—and dodging the police—that he became the best out of all of them. From this, he earned the name: “The Artful Dodger” or, simply, “Dodge.”
Since then, he’s grown up and become more involved in the business side of things, coordinating thievery and things of the sort. He dresses older in order to show people just how mature he thinks he is.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:
Business man. One hand in his front pocket, the other holding a briefcase. Waiting to cross the street. A perfect victim.
Dodge ran and bumped into the man. It took less time than usual to slip the wallet out of the man’s pocket and into his own. A new record possibly? Inwardly, Dodger smiled, but outwardly he said, “Sorry, mister.” and turned the corner. No shouts of “Stop you thieving little shit!” meant that Dodge was as good at his job as he thought he was.
Looking back once to see that the light had changed, Dodger kept walking until he could slip into an alleyway. Gregory J. Campbell, 42. Three credit cards, a picture of two toddlers, and exactly 528 dollars. The contents of the wallet caused an ear to ear grin. The good thing about wallets is that Fagin doesn’t already know how much is in them. Sure, Dodge looked up to the man like a father, but he didn’t let him pocket much. Four hundred and ninety-eight dollars is still a pretty large amount. Pocketing his…commission, Dodger turned out of the alley.
Twenty-something. Gossip Girl wannabe. On the phone. Large, open purse. Next victim.
