Penelope almost lost her head amidst th banter and confusion of the other guests. Everyone here seemed to know at least one other person. Only she was left to meander, or stay with Hector. She was very concious of how she must look to the others; Hector Tormei's considerably younger arm candy. The last thing she wanted to be was someone's slut for the night. She was fairly sure Hector didn't see her as such (she'd have to confront him later about how to deal with the age difference) but she knew that she probably didn't give off a very good first impression to the rest of the crowd.
Penelope began to mill around, hoping that, by some miracle, she'd find another familiar face to talk to and maybe come off as more than a temporary dinner date. A ray of hope glimmered in her when she spotted Claudius Chandler, who had been at the other party at the art museum. Painting a smile on her face, she walked to him and a woman who was presumably his date. Before she could introduce herself, however, the girl ran off in the direction of the bathrooms, seemingly following another young woman who hadn't looked too well.
"Hello again Mr. Chandler. I don't suppose you remember me? We met and Hector's last party at the Museum of Modern Art." She smiled politely, waiting for Chandler to respond.

Tag: Penelope It was as Claudius was getting set to head into the throng of guests and mingle as he did best, that he was approached by a young woman. He was surprised to find he recognized her; Penelope from Hector's campaign party at the Musuem. What was she doing here; hadn't Hector branded her as a child and an annoyance? "Hello again Mr. Chandler. I don't suppose you remember me? We met and Hector's last party at the Museum of Modern Art."Claudius' small smile became an outright grin at Penelope's words. "Penelope LaFontaine," he replied, his voice practically oozing charm. "How could I forget?" And so saying he took her hand in his and bent to kiss it.

Penelope and Claudius Hector got too caught up in greeting people to really notice that Claudius and Penelope had left him. He was too busy shaking hands to look for them right away but once the line subsided, Hector spared a glance around the room. He looked through the crowd and found Penelope's red hair first. Then he saw Claudius's smarmy grin. Hector started to walk towards them, the green eyed monster awakening within him when he saw Claudius bend to give Penelope's hand a kiss. Hector made his way through the people scattered about, passing through with a charming "Excuse me" or "I hope you enjoy yourself" before coming to a stop beside Penelope. Deftly, Hector slid his arm around her waist and gave Claudius a stern look. "I see you two have met," Hector said, trying to sound casual despite speaking through clenched teeth.

For Jane and Mephi Dahlia withdrew and fell back on the side of the stall, leaning against it with heavy breaths. She wiped her watering eyes with one hand, groping for Damien's hand with the other. Finally, she found it, and clenched it in a bony but iron grip. She wrapped her free arm around her stomach now, trying to hold back the rest of the vile stuff. She heard a faintly familiar voice and looked up to see Jane; she wanted to give her a smile, even if it was feeble, but couldn't manage it. It felt as though she would never be happy again after that experience, like he had fed off of her quiet joy. Dahlia turned slightly so that she was sitting up and pulled her knees to her stomach. She began to gesture, trying to tell both of them that there was someone terrible out there and seeing them made her sick. She gestured that it was a man, poking Damien in the chest roughly, and that he was tall, and that his hair was black, by touching her own hair. A little bit of hope shone in her eyes through the pain; hope that they'd get it.

Tag: Dahlia, Jane Damien almost wanted to cry when he felt how tightly Dahlia had gripped his hand. He was more than worried about her at this point, and it was clearly showing on his face. Worry was not an emotion he was familiar of, especially when it came to people. Now he was fretting over the love of his life... Yes, he's said it before. He was madly in love with Dahlia. He knew she knew, but doubted she cared. Though it made him fuzzy inside to know she trusted him enough to grip his hand for support. Oh, what was he thinking of? He was being too grossly romantic inside. He loved wooing women, but not when he actually believed in all the girlish hype. Though he doubted Dahlia cared about any of that. All he cared about was making her better. And she was currently trying to tell them something. He had absolutely no idea what, and he doubted she had the strength to write it out. He couldn't understand a word she was trying to mimick, though. She was trying to tell them what had made her sick, but he couldn't figure out what it was. He didn't want to play charades, so he took her hands gently. "Dahly... I'm... I'm good at reading lips... Can you mouth to me what you're trying to say?"

Dahlia looked down at her long, spidery hands; they were being controlled now, but in a gentle, loving way. He had barely even looked up at Jane, focusing solely on her. No one had done that since... since her father, really.
"Dahly... I'm... I'm good at reading lips... Can you mouth to me what you're trying to say?"
Dahlia smiled in a breathless, sad way; she liked the way he called her Dahly. He was one of the only ones who had ever even bothered learning her name, let alone giving her a pet name. He was coming along nicely. Perhaps now that he felt love for her, he would be able to feel it for other people.
Somewhere deep inside she knew that she would have to complete it in order for him to make something of it, but how could she complete love? She was there to blot it out- always had been the black shadow. She didn't know romantic love. Only the protective, mothering kind that she felt for the dead. The kind that she felt from God, when He decided He was ready to listen to her.
She cleared her throat tentatively, but it wasn't quite careful enough; she felt the liquid fire in her throat again, and she was in tears keeping it down. Slowly, she managed to mouth, 'He killed them all.'

Meg Giry had been away in Paris. Her mother asked her if she could, in between ballets come back to Paris and visit. She decided she would. She had missed Paris dearly but loved New York all the more. She did not, how ever love the flight from JFK International Airport all the way to Paris-Orly Airport. It was long and made her even more tired than hours of ballet class and a show combined. Her mother, still as stiff and ridged as always with her hair, black as her clothes, pulled back severly into her bun and she was a pale as always (Meg took her hair from her father, Pierre, who died when she was a baby. She didn't know where her looks came from. She had seen pictures of her father, and she looked nothing like him, and she looked bearly like her mother but none of that mattered. Her mother, ballet mistress of the Paris Opera House's ballet company, had Meg come with her to rehearsals. She was delighted to see her old friends again. They welcomed her so warmly. They also noticed how much she had changed. She didn't think she had so much but they insisted she had changed. She told them all about Sodapop Curtis, who her mother was not pleased to hear about claiming on him distracting her from her ballet, and her "Papa" Hector Tormei. They were thrilled about her new life and couldn't be happier for her. She also played tourist in her home city. It was amusing for her and she enjoyed the rather warm weather of Paris in late spring, early summer. Soon though, it was time for her to return to New York. Her traveling back to New York meant another flight, this one from the Paris-Orly Airport all the way to JFK Airport. She was sick of planes but she longed to return to New York. Her phone had been off almost her whole time in Paris, since the ballet girls kept her very busy. When she landed in New York, she turned on her phone and as soon as it was up and loaded, it told her she had a few missed calls and a voicemail. Some of the calls were from the ballet but there was one from her "Papa". She wondered what had happened and she quickly checked her voicemail. It was indeed a message from her "Papa". He informed her he had won the election and was now Mayor. She couldn't have been more proud, even if he really was her Papa. He also invited her to a party, celebrating his victory that was to be held that evening. Good thing I came home when I did. she thought with a smile. She reached her apartment and freshened up from her travels and changed into a coral colored dress with a bow on the waist, gold sparkled flats with dangling earrings and her favorite locket. Her golden blonde ringlets hung down her back but were pulled back at the sides, to stay off her face. She realized she was running a little late to the party and left a quick message on her "Papa" 's cell phone. "Hello Papa!" she greeted on his voicemail, "It is Meg. Thank you for your invitation. I have just arrived home from my travels to Paris but I am on my way now. I will be a little late, I hope that is all right. I will see you soon! I cannot wait to congratulate you!" She sounded so joyful on her phone, just as joyful as she felt. Meg had arrived slightly late to the party but entered as soon as she arrived, blushing furiously and hoping she wasn't too late. After much searching around the room, she spotted her "Papa" but was unsure if she should go right over to him like she wanted to. She wanted to run right over and give him a hug and kiss on the cheek and congratlate him. Unsure if she should do, she stayed in her spot, a warm grin spreading across her face and she waves almost shyly at her "Papa". ((OOC: Long post WTF XD and outfit ))

Tag: Dahlia and Damien For once in her life Jane was glad she was so small. She slid into the stall and knelt in front of Dahlia, watching her gesture wildly. Jane rested her hand on Dahlia's shoulder and watched the movement. It was like charades. Jane was able to get that a tall man, probably with dark hair had done something. Those movements were easy enough to figure out. Then she mouthed the words 'He killed them all'. Jane tensed up. That was a strong accusation but for some reason Jane believed her completely. This pain, this sickness was not an act. Jane didn't know how Dahlia could know so much but Jane didn't doubt her. Some people just knew things and could see into the darkest parts of people. This man, who ever he was, must have been a wretch on the inside below a perfect facade. When she came in Jane hadn't seen anyone who looked like a murderer but she supposed that was the point. She couldn't tell because she wasn't supposed to. "Do you know his name? We can call the authorities," Jane spoke the first bit to Dahlia and the second to Damien. She remembered seeing someone who fit the description shaking hands with Mayor Tormei, a tall man in a suit. Jane didn't recognize him but hopefully Damien would. "He was shaking hands with the mayor when I came in, I think. Is that who you're talking about Dahlia?" Jane felt like she was babbling but she wanted so desperately to help in any way.

Hector and Claudius
Penelope smalled as Claudius played up the debonnaire and bent to kiss her hand. Her giggling was cut short by Hector wrapping an arm around her waist. Her stomach did a flip at his touch, even if she didn't like the possesive stance he was taking with the gesture.
"It's great to see you again Mr. Chandler. Hector was a dear to invite me to his victory bash after the horribly childish way I acted at his last party." Penelope spoke sweetly, though not in an entirely serious manner as she stretched up to give Tormei a playful kiss on the cheek.

Claudius, Penelope, Meg Hector gave Penelope a smile and tightened his arm around her. He didn't plan on leaving her side but then he saw Meg, his dear little surrogate daughter, back from Paris, waving to him. "Forgive me, I have to go say hello to some one," Hector, emboldened by Claudius's leering look, kissed Penelope lightly on the mouth and released her. Stepping close to Claudius, Hector warned in a low voice, "Behave yourself Claudius, I'll be back in a moment," Hector started to step away but stopped to add, "Keep your hands to yourself," With that, Hector stepped away from Claudius and Penelope and walked to Meg, opening his arms and smiling warmly "Meg, I'm so glad you made it," Hector pulled the young girl into a hug. "You should have let me pay for first class tickets for you," Hector pulled back and put his hands on Meg's shoulders, looking her over. She looked good considering she flew in from Paris. "Did you enjoy your time in France?"

Tag: Penelope, Hector As Claudius straightened back up again, he hadn't expected to see Hector re-appear so swiftly, nor indeed put his arm around Penny's waist. Inwardly Claudius looked confused but outwardly his grin didn't leave his face. This was certainly an interesting (albeit somewhat awkward) development... "I see you two have met,"It was painfully obvious to Claudius that Hector's casual tone was forced. Before he had much time to wonder as to precisely why this was, Penelope had spoken up again. "It's great to see you again Mr. Chandler. Hector was a dear to invite me to his victory bash after the horribly childish way I acted at his last party."Not only did the words 'dear' and 'Hector' not exactly go together, but Penelope's playful kiss on Hector's cheek confirmed to Claudius that more was going on between the pair than he had first anticipated. Judging from Hector's tone he wasn't pleased with how Claudius had acted towards Penny, but surely Tormei knew that was how he always acted? Maybe it was time to play a different role, at least for now. Claudius was about to say something when Hector excused himself, but not before kissing Penelope back, on the mouth no less. Claudius couldn't deny he was thoroughly entertained by this and planned to interrogate Hector about this later, or even ask a few searching questions now. Before he could do anything however, Hector had stepped closer to him, his voice low and, dare he say it, threatening. "Behave yourself Claudius, I'll be back in a moment. Keep your hands to yourself,"Claudius raised an eyebrow but said nothing as Hector walked off. He couldn't deny the power in Tormei's voice frightened him, as it ought to, but who was he to tell Claudius Chandler, CEO, how to behave? Having taken another, significantly larger, sip from his glass of wine, Claudius turned his attention back to Penelope. "Okay...," he said, his tone insinuating. "Did I miss something here?"

tag: Hector (aka Papa) Meg's time in Paris was definately memorable. She actually got to wear her white rehearsal dress again and practice with her old ballet troupe again, while helping the new girls learn the old reutines. Currently, they were working on Hannibal, which was one of her favorites..and she was featured up front for it. She forgot just how strict the Opera ballet was. The New York City ballet wasn't as strict and she somehow missed the structure of Opera ballet. She also missed her mother, of course. The new Opera House had finally opened. Their old one had burned down within the last few years. The troupe then went to Hungary, Austria, Italy and England for a tour while a new Opera House was built. When she left for America, they were playing at another Opera House in Paris so she hadn't seen the new house. It was truly lovely but it made her miss her David H. Koch Theater. That theater made her feel like she was a ballerina dancing in a jewelry box. As she stood on the side lines, Little Miss Giry smoothed down the skirt of her coral colored skirt of her dress and made sure her bow laid flat against it. Her warm grin grew wider as her "Papa" as he came over. "Meg, I'm so glad you made it," She hugged him back. "How could I miss this, Papa?" she told him truthfully, "Sorry I am a little late. I just got your message as soon as I got off the plane." She grinned warmly, "And may I say congratulations on your victory, Papa. I am so proud of you." "You should have let me pay for first class tickets for you," Considering the annoying, crying child behind her the whole flight back...and the annoying child who kept kicking her chair... "I wish I did, Papa." she said with a bit of a laugh. "Did you enjoy your time in France?" "I did, thank you." she told him, "I got to see their new Opera House, since the one I knew burned down a few years ago...but I missed New York." She laughed a bit, now teasing him, "I bet you were too busy to miss me, Papa."

Tag: Meg, Penelope, Claudius "Of course I've missed you dear," Hector placed his hand on Meg's back to guide her through the crowd. Pleased to see her or not Hector would be insane to leave Claudius and Penelope alone for two long, even if Claudius had received his threat loud and clear. Claudius was not one to follow directions. "I'd like you to meet a couple of people Meg. One is a good friend, the other I've recently started dating," Hector lead Meg to where Penelope and Claudius still stood. Removing his hand from Meg's back, he reclaimed his position beside Penelope. "Meg, this is Penelope LaFontaine," Hector motioned to his date. "And Claudius Chandler, an old friend and businessman," He then motioned to Claudius. Again, he gave Claudius a look of warning. He hoped that Claudius would realize that Meg was just a tender sixteen and not one to treat unfavorably. "Penelope, Claudius, this is Meg Giry. She's a ballet dancer who has recently returned from Paris,"

Tag; Hector, Penelope, Meg Sadly for Claudius, before Penelope had a chance to explain (even if she didn't want to) exactly what was going on, Hector had re-appeared with a young blonde at his side. Claudius' grin returned at this, at least until Hector made his explanation. That wasn't to say Claudius wouldn't be teasing him about all this later. The look Hector gave him as he made the introductions should have clearly indicated to Claudius that Meg, like Penelope, was not exactly up for his usual brand of introductions. However, the fact Meg had returned from France meant Claudius hardly heeded this look, instead taking the opportunity to try and be charming as ever (even with his rather shabby French). "Enchanté, mademoiselle," he said, turning to Meg and giving a bow of sorts (not wanting to repeat the gesture he'd used with Penelope for fear of what Hector might do to him if he did).

Tag: Hector, Cluadius, and Meg Penelope was about to reply to Claudius when Hector came by with a young girl and introduced her to them. "Hello Meg, it's nice to meet you. It must be exciting being a professional dancer" Penelope acknowledged the girl with a smile, but was a little confused and suspicious at how Hector knew someone so young. The girl was younger than Penelope herself and couldn't have been more than 17 or 18. She certainly hoped it wasn't a habit of Hector's to befriend girls half his age, even if it did make her a hypocrite. She turned back to Claudius with a sly smile and gave him his answer: "As you can see, Hector and I overcame our differences. We're on an altogether more "friendly" basis now." She chuckled quietly over the little understatement she'd made and gave Hector a knowing glance. ((I'm sooo sorry this took so long XP))
