An update from me in terms of theatrics if anyone is interested: Tommorow at our school's open day (where we showcase subjects, extra curriculars etc to prospective parents) myself and my fellow thespians from the Drama ECA were going to perform Act 3, Scene 1 from my Richard III musical parody in the works. However it turns out this plan could not go ahead but, despite this, I will still be acting as my Rewritten City counterpart! My English teacher asked me today if I could come in dressed as Richard III and greet people when they arrive at the English exhibition in character. He said he thought I'd be keen. XD Apparently, when he nods in my direction, I'll be spontaneously monolouging. I managed to rope in one of my good friends as well; she'll come dressed as the Lady Anne and we'll hopefully get a chance to do part of Act 1, Scene 2. <3 Not to mention the fact that I am also apparently singing one of my Fagin solos later in the day to help showcase our school's performing arts department. XD Although I didn't find that out until today. Useful, eh? =P Wish me a couple of broken legs! ^^

Please wish me a couple of broken limbs, too, as I had auditions tonight for an "On Broadway" recital! We are doing selections from Hairspray, Jekyll & Hyde (!Tichy!), Phantom of the Opera (!Chrissy!), Wicked, and Legally Blonde. I would really love to play Galinda, but if I don't get that please wish me another good role! [/blockquote]

@bunny: That's so exciting my dear! -oodles of hugs- I wish you a couple of broken legs! Here's hoping you get to play Galinda or, if not, another role you love. <3
Out of curiousity, what did you sing at your audition?
@jekll: Thanks very much my dear! Turns out we didn't have time to do the 'Oliver!' segment, although I did get to act as Richard. My good friend as I performed Act One, Scene Two in the foyer...the school photographer noticed and way getting pictures really close up...after Anne spat in my face I flinched away I must have accidentally knocked into him as he was taking a picture or something (he was behind me at the time, getting an over the shoulder shot of Anne, I assume) because he laughed and cried "The camera!" =P
There was a little kid watching who recognized me from 'Oliver!'...I overheard her asking her mother if I was 'the old guy with the magic in his pockets'. :3 So cute!
Also, when I was Richard, the principal turned up and kept calling me 'Your Majesty'. I was quite enjoying that (in character) but then my English teacher explained I wasn't King yet. I shot him a nasty look. XD
Thanks again, and once again Sarah/Bunny, broken legs! ^^ -hugs-

Nessie—It was death by strangulation for me in Oliver Twist. Which isn't accurate in comparison to the book, but a heck of a lot easier to stage then being bludgeoned to death. Scotland? Scotland? That's so cool! My friend spent a year there in sixth grade and he really enjoyed it. I'll wish you some belated broken legs, though it sounds like you don't really need them. The Richard/Anne scene is an awesome bit.
Sarah—Ooh, broken legs to you! (Goodness, this sounds macabre) I truly hope you're pleased with your casting, 'cause all those musicals are pretty great.

Well, here is an update for me. Bad news, unfortunately. I was cast into the ensemble, and for this particular production that means that you don't even get a costume. I have chosen to opt out, the first show I've ever done so, simply because I had previously told my mom that I was going to take the summer off, and with the results of the casting to back me up, I've decided that that is what I am going to do. There is still Les Mis come this summer, though, so I have high hopes! As it turns out they were not even casting for appearances, which I thought might help in this case for me. The girl they've chosen to play Galinda has a lovely voice, but she's very tall and VERY Italian. The girl they've chosen to be Elle Woods is not blonde. So ... just not the right show for me, I guess! ^.^
In answer to Nessie's question, I sang "Popular" and they had me sightread "Ireland" from Legally Blonde. They also had me do "Good Morning Baltimore" from Hairspray, but I already knew that one so it wasn't as much sightreading as "Ireland." Overall, I think I had a good audition, but the fact seems to be that they just ran out of roles. :/ Right audition, wrong show. It happens. So yes, that's that for now. The next auditions I have will be in July some time, so I'm really looking forward to that! =) [/blockquote]

@edie: Our Nancy was beaten to death with a 'crowbar' behind London Bridge. I can't really explain how we staged it or even how we managed it (our stage is very small) but as I was waiting backstage for my cue I saw the whole thing and it creeped me out every time. We had a smoke machine too so that was VERY eerie and effective. ^^ But I have to say, strangulation sounds easier to act...if that makes sense...
I'm very much looking forward to Scotland, but I'm scared too. Boarding school for the first time, new people, new teachers, my parents on the other side of the world... D: Meep.
Thank'ee for the belated broken legs...I really hope Rewritten City has an Anne sooner or later... -plot plot plot-
@bunny: Awww dear, that's a shame! You're taking it very well as far as I can tell over the internet, so props to you! I remember in my first musical when I was cast as Woman 4 I cried for a couple of days, on and off. XD I'm such a drama queen.
Glad you have Les Mis to look forward to; here's hoping you break legs there! -hugs-
I love the song 'Popular' although (facepalm) I've never actually seen Wicked. I just know the song. XD And it's catchy. It does sound like you had a good audition though, as to my knowledge Popular's quite a toughie!
[cue random audition anecdote]
When I auditioned for Beauty & The Beast my brother and I auditioned together. We performed Mungojerrie & Rumpleteazer from CATS (with dancing, might I add, except we cut the double cartwheel). XD Then I was asked to sightread a couple of song from a Broadway Songs book; I chose 'Do Re Mi' and 'Memory'. I was unable to start with the piano for some stupid reason. I was cast as Woman 4. And, in all honesty considering my cliche song choices, I thought I sang/danced them all very well.
[end anecdote]
Sorry that was a smidge irrelevant. All the best for Les Mis! -yet more hugs-

I had meant to wish you well quite some time ago but my computer logged me out just as I was trying to post a response! I hope your experience is warm and full of joy and enrichment Richard And that you are breaking spiders legs. *skims Bunny's post* On the subject of sight reading...I'm embarrassed to admit I don't know how to do that, really. Good luck to you in July!!

This is totally the wrong account for this but OH WELL. I finally got round to scrounging up some Fagin pictures! Here's hoping you like them! Hopefully my Dad will be able to send me the snippet of the show he managed to sneakily film; it was 'no videos allowed' but he did so anyway. XD Sadly there are no 'on set' photos as photos were prohibited; but hopefully these backstage 'uns will suffice. Fagin & Dodger on the lookout for someone who needs their pockets a tad less heavy... Fagin tacklehugs his acting coach. Fagin and his esteemed director (Check out my pointy shoes of epic-ness!) Fagin and Dodger strike again (with a new pose!) Fagin & Flowers! :3 That's all for now folks! Hopefully if my Dad can find more images and get me that video I'll post them here for you all to see. =) If you'd like me to, that is. ^^

Aww, thank you! The coat was designed entirely by the director, she just had to get it made up at the local fabric market. After the show she said I could keep it. By the way, if anyone's curious, my rehearsal diary can be found here: www.fanfiction.net/s/5332378/1/Consider_Yourself_One_Of_UsI should also have some more pictures up soon, and that video clip. ^^
