Hi, my name is Sisi and this is my First character. I found this site through a post on another forum. Something you should know about me is I haven't done this for a while so I'll probably be a little rusty.
Canon: Shakespeare - Taming of the Shrew
Custom Title: If I be waspish, best beware my sting
PHYSICAL:
Age: 34
Gender: female
Appearance:
Height: 5 feet 1 inch
Body: slim and petite
Other distinguishing features: long, dark hair, usually swept up in a bun or twist and very pale skin which often makes her look plain and washed out
Wardrobe: Mostly black or grey business suits. Katherine will always be immaculately put together and wears very little makeup, just enough to cover any blemishes on her skin. Her one touch of vanity are her shoes. She always buys as high a heel as possible to add height to her tiny frame.
Play By: Shirley Henderson
PERSONALITY
General personality: Katherine is serious, very focused on her professional life. She's is not particularly amiable and has a very prickly demeanor, and is seen as an abrasive person. Her temper is extremely short and she is quick to insult anyone who gets on her nerves. She has few friends and is not particularly fond of her family. The friends she does have have been an extremely slow acquisition as her personality is pretty impenetrable. Those few who do end up on her good side learn to see the sharp, sarcastic humor in her insults.
Outside of her career she does not have much of a social life. She prefers to stay at home with her cat, watching late night reruns of Law and Order. If anyone were to bring up men and dates, she'd probably throw them out a window. Her luck with men has been dismal because of her personality and her unpleasantly pushy family who keep on nagging her to find a husband.
Likes:
Dislikes:
Strengths: strong and ambitious work ethic; extremely intelligent; emotionally tough
Weaknesses:socializing in general; extremely short fuse; intimidating to people who don't know her; large parties
BACKGROUND
Family: Her younger sister Bianca, and her father, Batista
Education: Harvard for business and accounting
Occupation: Wall street banker
Worst past experience: her father pushing her to go out with a slew of idiotic men
Best past experience: Moving out of the family house for good
History: Katherine hated her home life with her widowed father and spoiled younger sister. Bianca was always the pretty one, the sweet girl everyone wanted. Their mother died of Pneumonia when Katherine was 6 and Bianca 2. Their father was left to raise them on his own. Being from a big patriarchal Italian family he did what he was taught to do: control everything. Of course his side of family also pitched in to run the family. Bianca was well-loved by everyone and constantly praised. This made Katherine frustrated, and her demeanor around people became prickly as her frustration at their love for her her sister increased, whilst she remained in the backdrop. Katherine was tired of living in her sister's shadow, so she decided to prove to everyone that she could be a success without popularity or beauty. Her family was a little unbelieving when she announced that she had her heart set on going to Harvard and all were dumbfounded when she actually made it in.
Katherine was thrilled after all of her hard work in high school landed her in Harvard where she excelled in her business and accounting programs, landing at the top of her class. As soon as she graduated she moved to New York where she successfully made her way through Wall street as a successful banker and accountant for several big corporations. She stays away from her family as much as possible, only going home for the requisite holidays.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample: Katherine had just left the office for the day. Walking out the door, she headed to the Starbucks across the street to grab her after-hours latte before she went home. Work usually left her drained by the end of the day and in need of a caffeine boost. As she entered the shop she say the girl behind the counter stiffen a little as she saw the steely-eyed business woman approach the counter for her regular order. She was never rude to the girl, who seemed to be the only person who ever got her order right on the regular basis, but she was intimidating to anyone who saw her, marching stiffly in her black power suit, an immovable stony glare on her face. Without saying a word, the girl behind the counter smiled shyly and moved to prepare her customary skinny cafe latte.
"Your skinny latte miss..." The girl behind the counter said shyly as she handed Katherine the steaming cup. She gave the girl a curt nod and paid her the exact amount, which she had quickly memorized after buying the same thing everyday for God-knows how long. She turned to leaved and immediately collided with a young man nose deep in his Blackberry, nearly causing her latte to spill.
"Excuse me! You would do well to watch where you're going!" Katherine exclaimed angrily, trying hard not to swear or yell in front of the staff and other customers. The man muttered an apology and meandered into the line, still typing intently on the Blackberry. "Insufferable idiot!" Katherine grumbled audibly as she sped past a couple of young girls and out the door into the street...
