Hi, my name is Katie and this is my Third character. I found this site through an ad on a forum originally. Something you should know about me is I understudied the role of Emma Carew (and was considered for the role of Lucy Harris) in the musical Jekyll and Hyde...four years ago XD.
Canon: Jekyll and Hyde (I've been told she's mentioned in the novella but I know for a fact she's in Jekyll (in a different form) and Jekyll and Hyde the Musical. My Emma also has been inspired a bit by Mary Reilly (From the movie Mary Reilly - played by Julia Roberts).)
Custom Title: In his eyes, I can see where my heart longs to be
PHYSICAL
Age: Early Twenties
Gender: female
Appearance: Emma is a little bit taller than adverage height. She is just at seven inches over five feet. She has brown hair and it has a slight curl to it that can look very timeless and classic and yet very modern. Her face is gently rounded with prominate cheekbones, a rounded chin and a wide, small forehead. She has large, round chocolate brown eyes and her eyes are framed by a fringe of dark lashes. She has dark eyebrows above her eyes that have never needed keeping up. She has a little rounded nose and full, pink lips that are the perfect side for her face.
Emma has a dancer's build...even if she isn't a dancer. She is very thin with long arms and legs. She also has long hands and fingers, which help being an artist and a bit of a piano player (she would never call herself a pianist, since she doesn't think she's any good). She has a scar from her forehead down her left temple to just below the corner of her eye and over her left ear (but it's hidden by her hair). She doesn't like talking about how she got them but they're a part of her look now and she has to deal with it.
Height: 5'7"
Body: Thin yet curvy
Other distinguishing features: Emma has a scar on her left temple and above her left ear, hidden by her hair. She doesn't like to talk about where they're from.
Wardrobe: Emma usually keeps her look neat and clean, unless she's painting. In that case, her clothes are usually covered in paint. She likes to wear anything comfortable; skirts, jeans, soft sweaters, tee shirts, tank tops. Whatever's comfortable for that day. Her look changed from when she was a child. Back then, she wore dresses like every semi-well off family's daughter did and the occusional pair of jeans and shorts. She didn't like those dresses (especially the really puffy ones her dad made her wear to "look cute" and "like a little lady". Her make-up is very natural but she doesn't use any make-up to cover up the scar from her forehead down her left temple to just below the corner of her eye. She just thinks it's part of her look now and she's learned to live with it.[/ul]

PERSONALITY
General personality: Emma is a kind girl and the kind of person you can talk to about anything. She will try to help you and if she can’t she’ll be there for you. She will go out of her way to be a good friend. She is very true to herself and won’t change herself to fit in or to get a guy. Miss Carew is, at first glance very shy and reserved but that's really only because of what she's been through and the unspeakable sadness she's faced with the tramatic car crash and the loss of her mother at a young age.
Emma trusts people easily because and doesn't look for the bad in people, but the good. Unfortunately, she puts herself down a lot because she feels she's not as pretty as other girls. She also thinks her art is something only she'll ever like. While that isn't nessarily true, she doesn't seem to mind and just continues doing what she loves. She's never had a boyfriend and, ever since the accident, never had all that many friends.
Emma has been "hiding behind her sketchpad" since the accident. Art just became her life after that. She has such vivid memories of that crash and that sometime effects her dreams. A lot of her sketchpads are full of drawings of those memories from that fateful night. Her dad worries about her drawing those kind of things all the time but he knows it's a release for her and it's what she needs. That crash may have taken her mother from her, but it helped her find the world of art which changed her life for the better and it also showed her she had the strength inside her to get through almost anything.
Quotes, frequently used expressions: "Life is art. Make it something you're proud of."
"I don't like hiding behind my sketchpad...I just do."
"Inspiration strikes when you least expect it."

BACKGROUND
Family: Danvers "Danny" Carew - Father
Gulietta Zanetti-Carew - Mother [deceased]
Education: Went to catholic schools until she finished high school and then took a year off. Is now a freelance artist and taking some art classes on the side in New York
Occupation: Freelance Artist
Worst past experience: Being in the car accident that killed her mom (which also caused the scar on her left temple and over her left ear).
Best past experience: Discovering she was good at art.
Image: Emma can be seen as kind of a loner but she has a few friends back in England. They still email and keep in touch. When you get to know her, she's actually a very warm and friendly person. At first, she seems a bit shy but she has such a warm, friendly smile that seems to draw people to her. She is very friendly when you talk to her. Guys usually think she's gorgeous but she is most likely hiding behind her sketchpad.
History: Emma Alice Margaret Carew was born to Danvers Carew and his wife Gulietta after several years of trying. They were so happy to finally have a child. Growing up, her parents put her in the normal activities children did. She tried everything from dance classes (which didn't work because she's a bit of a klutz) to sports (which didn't exactly work out). When she was seven, she was watching the Olympics and wanted to try ice skating. Her mom took her to a rink in London so she could be in a skating class. Unfortunately, she was completely awful and the teacher asked that she never come back to class. It was on the way home that her life would change forever.
When they weren't too far from their home outside London, Emma's mother's car was hit by a driver who was falling asleep at the wheel. Gulietta and the driver of the other car died on impact and Emma was in the hospital for about a week or so, the only survivor. She had hit her head and, because of the glass from the shattered car window to her left, a cut from her forehead down her left temple to just below the corner of her eye and one over her left ear. Those two cuts left scars. The one over her ear can be hidden by her hair but the one of her face can't be hidden but, over the years, she's learned to live with it. There are also some emotional scars that come with being in a reck like that but she lives with them.
After the accident, Emma became a little more shy and reserved. She and her dad moved back to his native Cardiff, Wales (which has left it's mark on her accent). One day, inspiration struck in the way of a dream about the accident. The colors were so bright to her that she had to do something about them. She went into the art room at her school and just started drawing, using all different colors of colored pencils to make it look the way it did in her dream. Her art teacher was very impressed and sent Emma's first drawing home with her and with a note to her dad telling him to invest in art supplies for her and let her stay after school to work. That's when she started to explore the world of art and began loving it. It was a very solitary world but she enjoyed it so much and she was actually good. It was the outlet for her and she needed it. It was good for her.
Emma kept getting better and better with her art but became more and more withdrawn. People tended to stay away from her at her catholic high school, since they thought she was too depressing. She didn't mind and that's actually where she had her best art teacher. Mrs. Gettleman really encouraged her to find her own style and make art she'd be proud of. She was accepted to many art schools around Europe. She always wanted to travel and she had the chance to move to London, go to Paris or Vienna or almost anywhere but she turned it down. She wanted time off from school. She believed you didn't need a fancy school to do art so she saved her money. After a year, she decided to use the money she saved from not going to fancy art scholl and move to New York City. She could take art classes on the side but not have to go to any insitiution. She could be free to create whatever she wanted and that's what drove her to move to New York.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample: ((may be boring but it's just an example))
Emma signed very softly as she sat in Central Park, sketch pad on her lap. She had wanted to sketch that day but there was nothing she felt like sketching in the park. Usually there was but not that day. She had sketched the fountain about a hundred times as well as the carousel and the carriages that roamed the park. She even went down to the Delacourte Theater to see if there was some show going on or something. She would've sketched the actors, if the costumes were interesting enough.
At that moment, Emma was people watching. She was hoping someone interesting would walk by and she could start sketching them. She came to the conclusing no one like that was going to come by after about fifteen minutes. This was one of the times she wished she had friends here in New York. She would have something else to do besides sketching when she wasn't inspired. She ran a hand through her hair and lightly touched the scar over her ear. She sighed a bit. It didn't hurt but she felt like that scar and the one on her temple made her damaged goods but she wouldn't let herself fell sorry for herself again.
Emma found herself always finding new things to enjoy in New York City. She use to always find herself restless and bored in England but now she was free and she was loving it. She was still taking art lessons but it wasn't like school. She was also a freelance artist and could make whatever art she wanted and that was perfectly fine with her. She just wish she wasn't so lonely almost all the time. She sighed as she took a pencil from her bag and began sketching a rather unusual looking dog that was wandering around.
