Hi, my name is Yolanda and this is my first character. I found this site through helping to create it . Something you should know about me is I'm an admin, I love Johnny Depp, Lost (as you can see by my play by lol), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and several types of music .
Canon: Shakespeare's "Hamlet"
Custom Title:The Prince
PHYSICAL
Age: 29
Gender: male
Appearance: Harry's physical appearance matches his disposition. He is mysterious to some extent, which coincides with his deep entrancing eyes. His eyes serve as a centerpiece to his attractive features. He has a strong bone structure, fair skin, and brown lengthy hair.
Height: 5'9
Body: Very fit, athletic build
Other distinguishing features: Captivating eyes, other than that, not much.
Wardrobe: He is very fashionable and upstanding. You will most likely see him in a suit or semi-casual wear. For instance, he might where a pair of black slacks and a nice shirt. He loves jackets, so you'll probably see him in a fashionable jacket as well. He might wear a hat once in a while if the mood suits him. He's a very professional guy for the most part.[/ul]
Play By: Ian Somerhalder
PERSONALITY
General personality: Harry is a reactionary man, who is driven by everything that goes on around him. However, just because he's reactionary does not make him foolish. In fact, he's extremely bright. Maybe too bright. Because of his emotional state, he is very broody and calculating. Mostly, he over-thinks everything. He thinks about either his existence, his personal plights, the people around him, and his next course of action consistently. Despite his intelligence, he's generally indecisive. He uses procrastination as a safety net for things he doesn't want to face.
Because of his plight, he tends to rely on alcohol at times. When drunk (and depending on the situation, when sober as well) he can be angry and impulsive. His anger usually stems from righteous reason, but its a very passionate anger. Sometimes his anger transforms into depression. Therefore his sense of humor, when he's in this 'state' is slightly insulting, specifically meant to unearth a reaction. Otherwise, he's very tame and cordial, although its a mystery sometimes if he actually means his cordial acts. All in all, Harry wants to be like his father, and honor his father as much as possible. He struggles to achieve this goal.
Quotes, frequently used expressions: "Sometimes...I'm not sure if I want to live or die. Sometimes I wonder...if suffering in this world is really the more logical course of action. I mean, afterall, when we're awake, don't we often look forward to sleep?"
Likes: (please list three)
Dislikes: (please list three)
Strengths: (please name three) As already mentioned, he's very intelligent and bright. He can be an acute business man in his own right. When he loves, he loves deeply. And he's a very good actor.
Weaknesses:(please name three) Also as already mentioned, he's indecisive. Alcohol can definitely be his weakness. And because he loves deeply, he also hates deeply too. He's very impulsive at points but in other instances he can be excessively calculating.
BACKGROUND
Family: "King Hamlet" (father), "Claudius" (uncle), "Gertrude" (mother)
Education: College and a bit of grad school
Occupation:Financial advisor/manager for theater production companies
Worst past experience: His fathers death combined with his uncle's "betrayal"
Best past experience: Perhaps his time working with and helping production companies.
Image: People think of him the same way that he truly is. He's broody, melancholy, and a bit unstable when he's got whiskey in his hand. However, they're never quite sure if his unstable state is anything to be worried about or if they need to give him "intervention".
{Note that for the following history, I put other characters' names in my canon in "quotes" since they haven't been taken yet and they haven't been named. Once they are taken, you can change the names accordingly.
Also notice that I didn't go into too much detail about any other characters in my canon. Yes, anyone who is the first character in the canon can take a few liberties, as long as it follows the original canon and wouldn't be a shock for an RPer coming in to play that character. (for instance, I said Claudius took over the company and the mother was okay with this..similar to the original canon, when Claudius married the mother and the mother was ok with it.) Just don't fill in too many details, and leave room for change if the Rpers of your canon's characters see fit. As much as possible, try to focus on your own character}
History: Harry's childhood was pretty tame. He was well provided for due to his father's hard work. In high school, he was very self absorbed in his intellect. He was always busy with his studies. Those around him always called him a "prince" because they believe he was destined for great things, just like his father. After his bachelor degree in business management, he took a break to work a bit. With the help of his father's connections, he established a stable network in the theater productions. He assisted several companies manage finances for Broadway productions and there, he discovered his love for the art of theater. Once he was established in the field he decided to go back to school for his own pleasure, working and studying.
His school work was put on hold however, when his father died. The grief was painful to bare, but his death wasn't the worse news. His father, Hamlet Chandler Sr., owned a company that he built from the ground up. It's large, renowned and serves to help struggling companies from take over. He buys other companies and instead of feeding it to the financial sharks, tries to help the company rebuild. It was an honorable vision that he always said he wanted to pass down to the family, to keep sacred. The company was a gift to his family.
However, when he came home, he was horrified. Not even a month passed since his father's death and "Claudius" took over Hamlet Enterprises, using it for maximum financial gain, instead of carrying on with the vision. Even worse, Harry's mother is completely on board with his uncle's actions. In fact, they were partners in this revamp of the company.
This plummets Harry in complete despair. He turns to alcohol to numb the pain, drinking to the point of blacking out most times. In his dreams he would see his father telling him that "Claudius" killed him. These dreams strengthens his suspicions about his uncle but he can't be too sure. After all, their only intoxicated dreams, but it did make sense. Harry thinks he should enact revenge somehow and honor his father's name by getting rid of "Claudius" or try to take over the company himself. But for several reasons (he cant trust a stupid dream, maybe "Claudius" has remorse? should he really act?), he cannot put thoughts into action....at least...not yet.
So instead he calculates and drinks. Some times he acts drunk, or just mentally unstable, in front of people on purpose, just to "plant the seeds" if he were to plot something against "Claudius". If he were to do so, people would think he was incapable of plotting anything as a lunatic drunkard. Plus, he gets some internal satisfaction from people thinking he's out of control. Looking at his life, he'd rather "act" as someone else.
{Note that in the following sample, I godmod a maid. Godmodding of this fashion is allowed, since the maid is a randommer and has no effect on the storyline really *I just made her up, essentially*. When you godmod, change the color of the godmod so people know when you've done it.}
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:
Walking in the door to the family mansion, Harry took in the silence. He felt like an alien in this place. Unnatural. Foreign. Like walking into the manifestation of an unpleasant memory every day, reliving it once you wake up and when you drift off to sleep at night. Yet he was confined to this place, chained to a home that was no longer his. Imprisonment as a form of banishment.
"Mr. Chandler," a familiar voice beckoned. Bittersweet silence was short-lived.
"Hey," Harry turned to the Chandler household maid, his eyes dazed, looking up at the high ceilings as if seeing them for the first time.
"Mr. Chandler, I'm glad I caught you. You haven't been around much lately...." A pause. "Mr. Chandler?"
"What?" He lowered his gaze and grinned.
"Your mother wanted to talk with you."
Suddenly Harry broke in to a laughter, a hearty laugh that echoed the lobby of the mansion. Throwing his head back and walking away a few paces, he then turned around. "My mom? Wants to talk with me? You...are...kidding me, aren't you?"
Perplexed, the maid shook her head. "No, I'm--"
Harry approached her again and threw an arm around her waist. "Oh come on! Admit it! You always were a comedian, could light up the whole house, have this whole place dying laughing, couldn't you?" He continued laughing, doubling over with his arm around her, effectively almost pulling her to the ground.
"...Mr. Chandler? H-Have you been drinking?"
"Another punch line. Doo doo crash!" He let go of her to imitate a drummer. Two hits and the symbol crash. "Leno material, I'm telling you,"
"Uh..." She started. "Mr. Chandler, listen--"
"Where is she?!" He shouted looking up at the balcony where the main staircase led. "Where is mommy dearest? Mother! Mother! I'm home!" He spun around to the maid. "Why is she quiet? I mean quiet could only mean two things, no one thing. No two. One, is what I mean. Guilt. But shhhh...we should be quiet."
"What are you talking about?"
"What am I talking about?"
The maid stood and blinked at him. A moment of confusion. "I'm...going to go tell your mom that you're here." At that she exited the lobby. Harry watched her go.
"What am I talking about?" He whispered to himself, feeling conflicted between walking out the door again and confronting his mother. What to do in this situation? How could he keep tame after witnessing such blatant disregard to her husband's memory? What could he possibly say to her?
What could he say?
