"Hey Jane. I thought I'd call to let you know that I just saw one of the latest paintings my uncle bought for the offices. I saw it being hung up in the lobby and it caught my eye right way. I think it was...Champagne Bottle in Oil? It was stunning, and - before you say it - not because I happen to really like champagne."

"You really liked it? I had such a difficult time getting the lighting just right on that picture. And you presume too much, I would never assume that you liked the picture simply because of your...habits. I'm very flattered, blushing in fact."

"You would never assume that? I think I should be flattered too." he laughed a bit. "Anyway, I'm actually just getting off of work. Since that painting was pretty much the highlight of the last 10 or so hours, I'd thought you probably should know. How have your classes been today?"

She gives a small giggle into the phone. "Thank you for the call Harry. It's always so nice to know that someone enjoys one of my pieces. The classes went well today. One of my students, she's only 15, has finally gotten the hang of watercolors. Other than the past 10 hours or so, how has your day been?"

"Good for her. She's probably is doing better than I did at her age. Unless having watered-down colors randomly splatted across the page constitutes as art...and as far as my day, well, I met with the treasurer of Roundabout Theater. Aside from the normal business stuff, apparently the mayor is going to sponsor some of their shows this month - trying to promote some Halloween party. Let's just say the treasurer was really excited about it already. She was clearly a Halloween enthusiast. But what theater person isn't?"

There's an awkward pause. "Um, I wouldn't really know Harry...but the party does sound fun, doesn't it? I love Halloween here so much, I never got to do anything when I was younger. It's like I'm catching up on my childhood." Her smile can practically be heard through the phone.

"What I wouldn't give to go back to those years. You know, too bad parties and get togethers aren't really my thing. I don't know if you read the news but the last big one I went to someone died. Lesson learned." He rolled his eyes, irritated at his general misfortune over the past year. "If it were any other time, I would be glad to take you." He smirked over the phone. "What would you even dress up as? It's supposed to be a costume party."

"Why not go to this one? I was planning on going...but I'd really rather not go alone." Slight pause. "And I have the perfect costume. I watched, for the first time, The Princess Bride and I would simply love to dress up at Buttercup." She begins to blush. "But, ah, I don't think it would be very much fun being Buttercup if I didn't have Wesley." The last part is barely whispered and Jane is thoroughly embarrassed.

"Wow, I haven't seen that movie ages. I don't think I even remember half of it. " He paused, seemingly conflicted. "You really want to go don't you? You seem so...indecisive" he said sarcastically with a bit of a laugh. "Your excitement and automatic costume choice is sending off all kinds of mixed signals. " He paused again. "Wait, so who was Wesley again? He was the pirate, right?"

Sheepishly, "I do have to admit that I was really looking forward to going. If you don't want to, you don't have to. I can go with someone else." She shifts some stuff around, out of nervous habit. "Yes, Wesley was the pirate! 'As you wish' and all that."

"Hmm...well if I'm going to a costume party, I suppose walking around in a mask isn't the worst thing in the world." He paused again. "Alright, I'll go. Plus, it helps that this time I'll be in good company. That and you'd look very nice as Buttercup. I wouldn't want to miss that, right?"

"Really? You'll go? Oh Harry, I'm so happy. You'll enjoy yourself, I promise. And if you don't like it, we can leave." She smiled brightly. "You're making me blush, Harry."

Harry grinned. "Well I like the plan. I wouldn't mind ditching the party early myself to spend some quality time with Ms. Buttercup. 'As you wish' and all that," he laughed a bit. After a short pause he said, "Hey are you up for seeing a show tonight?"

In her best haughty voice, "It's Princess Buttercup, good sir." She giggles quietly. "What sort of quality time do you have in mind? Besides the party there's going to be a street fair of some sort. We can always do that. And if you don't want to do that, there's Central Park. We can go for a walk or something. And I know the cinemas are showing....sorry, rambling." Jane chewed on her nail. "I'm free tonight. What show did you have in mind?"
