THE GRAND FOYER
Want to get away from the party for a second? Maybe chit chat with someone away from all the noise? Step out into the foyer, which leads to the door. Maybe take a seat for a second on the staircase, which leads to the balcony of the ballroom.

Henry had been clutching the same glass since he first stepped into the great hall almost an hour ago. He’d been too busy watching the guests from the corner to bother taking a sip. It had been quite some time since he’d been this social. Most of the time he was in the lab or at work but, had managed to convince himself that taking one night off wouldn’t be so bad. He’d been plagued by nightmares lately. Nightmares that felt so real that it scared him. Henry would often wake up in a cold sweat wearing clothes he hadn’t gone to sleep in or worse, waking up in some random location. He brushed it off as a serious case of sleep walking but, lately he wasn’t so sure. Dressed like his favorite science fiction character, the tenth doctor from the Doctor Who series, Henry felt like himself for the first time in a long time. Who would have thought that a costume party would put him at ease? He felt the weight of the sonic screwdriver in his jacket pocket, remembered buying it a few years back and that warm, satisfied feeling swelling in his heart as he opened the package it came in. It made this incredibly realistic buzzing sound when you pushed the button on the side and it lit up blue just like the doctor’s. The suit wasn’t terribly hard to find, brown with pinstripes and a blue undershirt. Henry’s favorite red converse, which he even wore at work, matched that of the doctor’s in his blue suit. So, he fudged the costume a bit for his own means, not like anyone was bound to notice except him. He ran his slender fingers through the thick tufts of hair at the top of his head. He didn’t need to do much fussing to get it to look right. It just naturally fell like that. Mulling over the glass in his hand he decided it was time to take a sip and actually join the party. He knew a few faces but, for the most part it was just a sea of strangers before him. Take a sip Henry-boy he thought to himself, take a sip and just relax. Tilting the glass to his lips Henry Jekyll took a small swig of the liquid. It was warm from spending so much time in his hand but, there was something else about it. Something that tingled his tongue and sent a charge through his body. He suddenly felt alive; as if someone had wakened him from a long sleep. His eyes burned with a sharp intensity as they surveyed the room again. A thought nagged at the back of his head. Where is it? It was a good question, considering he couldn’t remember where he had parked the damn thing. How can you forget where you’ve parked your own time machine? There was a sound behind him, a low drumming sound, as the music cued up to play another song. It was soft but, strong; four consecutive beats like the sound of a time lord’s heart beat. He froze, his hearts stopping in his chest. The master. Springing forward, The Doctor reached for the hand of the first person he saw. “Alons-y!” he smirked, his Scottish accent wavering a bit in favor of a more English sounding tone. He pulled them along side him, racing out of the great hall and into the grand foyer. It was time for an adventure.
