Olivia was just about to pop her bottle of Jack open and have a small glass while she finished up some last minute paperwork for the Captain when she received a call; a call that was bound to interrupt the rest of her evening, and that of her partner’s. Sliding her badge on to her hip she grabbed her jacket off the coat rack in the corner of her office and headed out the door. Her piece was already clipped to her side; she rarely took it off even in the office. Knocking on her partners door she didn’t wait for a response but, turned the handle and walked in.
Leaning against the doorway she smirked, “Looks like we’ve got our evening all planned out. There are some druggies in the wind. East Chestnut Street. Olivia, hair already pulled into a ponytail, felt suddenly charged with adrenaline. “Got a tip that they’re cooking a bit of the crystal in one of the back rooms. According to Rodriguez Apartment 15 B has been under surveillance for a few weeks and it’s time to pounce before they scurry.”
She left the door ajar when she left to grab two coffees; one with a dash of the cream the other straight black. Olivia was glad to finally have a partner with simple tastes in caffeinated beverages. The last detective she’d been saddled with enjoyed a double pump mocha with a dash of blueberry and coconut milk. It was disgusting. But, not Javert. He was easy. Unlike Olivia, he was far more open about his past. Phillipe was the most genuine and just person she'd ever met in her life. And while many people found him stern and standoffish she knew better.
There was this unspoken rule with the two of them, something they’d just sort of developed over the years. Javert got to drive. It was a seniority thing, or a Javert thing. Olivia loved driving, especially driving a cruiser, but, so long as she was with Phillipe, she was riding shotgun. Not that she minded all that much; he had quite the lead foot and an excellent turn radius. Much of what she’d learned had come from him, after all.
As per usual they would meet down at the garage. Leaning up against the passenger side door, Olivia waited patiently for her partner to arrive with the keys. This drug bust was going to be fun for three reasons: one, the perps were a known drug gang within the city, two, she’d been sitting at her desk all week bored out of her mind and three, Javert was on the case. Oh yes, tonight was going to be fun.
