Mona was on interview duty again, something that she hated more then cleaning out bed pans. She couldn't count how many times she had gotten angry phone calls from people that she didn't hire. Not to mention all the men that tried to cop a feel on her because she was so young. Just because she was young didn't mean she didn't know the exact place she to place her knee. It was quite easy to take a man down with just one touch, it was something Mona found out quickly.
Her small slender fingers wrapped around her coffee cup that sat in front of her. Her right leg was crossed over her left thigh. Her feet her covered in black high heels which had ribbons that wrapped up her smooth calves. Her black skirt sat in small waves at mid thigh, her bright red shirt was V-neck flowed in a gentle way that showed off her curves. She had her hair down to her shoulders in waves of midnight black glossiness. Her eyes lightly colored with red eye shadow. Pink lip gloss coated her lips. It wasn't much on her part, but it was good enough that most doctors didn't ask her to do things.
Mona's clipboard sat in her lap as her foot tapped mid air. She read over his file silently. it seemed like he was qualified enough for the job, so Mona didn't know why she was in charge of his interview. She sighed and waited for Dr. Watson to come in. her eyes sat half mast as she slowly sipped her coffee and drifted off into a day dream.
The fingers of her right hand tapped lightly on the clipboard as she thought over all the work she had left to do. She hoped Dr. Watson was someone who was on time. She had so much work to do and the sooner it got done the better. She closed her eyes all the way and let her mind rest for a short while. She had gotten 2 hours sleep last night and the tiredness was starting to catch up with her. With Watson didn't come soon she may actually fall asleep

John wasn't as nervous as he could have been. It was just a job interview after all. He'd been through these before. Just smile, look your best, and at least attempt to charm them. That was his way. Perhaps that held a certain degree of snobbery, like he knew he'd get the job, but really, he did. He was more qualified than most, anyway. He'd get the job.
That is... if he ever got there on time.
First it had been finding a taxi. That took him about thirty minutes. Then the driver just had to not know where the damn hospital was, else he really would have got there sooner. It didn't help that he hardly knew where it was either. He let the driver drop him off a couple blocks away in the general direction of the building, though he honestly couldn't make heads or tails of which way to go.
Then it had been the walk there. His leg had nearly gave out on him, and the crowds were thick in the summer heat. It was like Afghanistan all over again. The tight spaces, the blistering warmth, the jungle of bodies (though these were very much alive). He tried asking for directions, but no one wanted to be bothered by the foreign cripple. Of course.
Then it had been someone spilling their scalding coffee on his jacket. That was just wonderful. 'Why don't they pour hot syrup down my throat while they're at it!?' he screamed mentally. Then a dog tripped him up while chasing a cat down the road just after he'd taken his ruined jacket off.
'This is ridiculous. Do they not want me to have the job?'
It seemed that way, but he there eventually, and then another obstacle had been the trick of finding the room in the hospital where he was to be interviewed. You'd think they'd put their interviews for jobs on the ground floor, but he had to ride the elevator all the way to the fifth floor...
And then the elevator stopped working.
"Fuck. My. Life."
He'd said it aloud when he slammed his fist on the wall. The woman next to him eyed him suspiciously, and he waved at her innocently with his head slumped to the wall. She backed away, moving to the stairs and running up them, away from the crazy person.
Yeah, that's right. Run away from your damn future doctor.
This was not going well.
He was already 30 minutes late, and just knew that he would leave a terrible impression. Not to mention the bad mood he was in now.
He had a difficult time trudging the flight of stairs, but finally he was at the office, huffing and puffing and gripping his cane in pain. Damn leg. Damn Shoulder. Damn health.
He composed himself, and turned the door to the office, stepping in with confidence and a forced smile on his face. "Sorry I'm late... Traffic was terrible."
He hobbled over to the seat and sat down with gratitude, folding his ruined jacket over the armrest an d setting his cane to the side, prepared to face any and all questions with begrudging tiredness.
He wasn't going to get the job now.

Mona jumped slightly when she heard the man walk into the room, and had to hold back a small laugh when she opened her eyes to look at him. He looked horrible, his clothes twisted slightly and the flushed face. Mona gave him a kind smile, she understood the hardships that New York held, besides she enjoyed her short day dream. She put her coffee cup on the table beside her.
"It's quite alright Dr. Watson, growing up here I understand the hardships that New York traffic gives you."
Mona looked him up and down, he was a nice looking man. He had a nice smile that made him seem trustworthy. Mona liked that, it would help a lot with his patients. The patients was Mona's top priority, they were the only reason she still interned at the hospital. If it weren't for them she would of left a long time ago. Mona had other jobs and internships that she was doing and missing this one wouldn't be a big deal.
Mona was already going to give him the job, not just on his looks, but he was the only person who applied. Plus his credentials were amazing, this interview was nothing more then the Doctors way of giving her a hard time. They even told her that he was going to get the job, but to do the interview anyway. This was why Mona hated doctors, they made her life a living hell. But so far this doctor wasn't half bad.
Mona turned her gaze to the coffee stained jacket that laid on his arm chair.
"A word of advice though, bring an extra change of clothes to work. Many people here can be...clumsy." she said the last word with extreme sarcasm. She couldn't count how many male doctors had "spilled" there coffee on her shirts. Just because she was only 17 and lesbian, didn't mean her body was free to look at by perverted doctors.
"My name's Monica Lisa Dragoti, but you can call me Mona. " she rolled her eyes "everyone does" She had gotten used to the nickname that originated from her middle name.
Mona looked down at the questions that the doctors gave her to ask Dr. Watson. She almost tore it up into confetti. If you were a fish what kind of fish would you be? What is your favorite food? What superhero would you most like to be? Everything was just a big fucking joke to these doctors! Another reason Mona hated doctors. Deciding to just say screw it she took the clip board and placed it on the table next to her coffee.
She gave Dr. Watson a gentle smile before speaking, "So Dr. Watson, why don't you tell me a little about yourself?"

John smiled at her kind words. "Thanks, I'll remember that next time."
Monica... He rather liked that name. He smiled at her nodding. "Mona then." Her smile was like the Mona Lisa, she was right. Funny, she looked so young to be working at a hospital. Barely out of college, no doubt, maybe graduated early. Her skin looked soft and her complexion smooth. He particulary enjoyed the stark red shade of her shirt. He blushed internally, clearing his throat and crossing his able leg over the other.
"So Dr. Watson, why don't you tell me a little about yourself?"
Good Lord. His least favorite subject. She couldn't ask him straightforward questions, about his work ethic, about his experience? He had to force himself to talk? Not in front of her. He was never proud, never vain. He just wanted the job.
What were the typical things an interviewer would ask? Perhaps... Perhaps he should just start there.
"Well," He said, licking his lips and crossing his arms. He began to discuss his medical career, from college, to small positions in clinics before he was sent to Afghanistan. He talked about his wounds, and his immediate discharge following his illness. He spoke of his decision to come to America, and what he could offer to the hospital in terms of his service.
"I know I'm..." crippled. He hated the word, so he just couldn't say it. Nor could he say disabled. He'd feel even more inadequate. "I know I seem to be in a bad position here, with my wounds, but I promise you, my surgical skills aren't impaired."
He gave a wide smile of reassurance, hoping he'd impressed her.

Mona gave out a small laugh and smiled at Dr. Watson.
"I assure Dr. Watson your injuries will no affect if you get the job or not. You record is quite outstanding and really if you had a bust open head, I pretty sure you'd get the job."
Mona wasn't lying, his record was amazing and she understood why the Doctors told her that he would get the job. She didn't know why he was so nervous about getting this job. With his credentials here in America, especially New York. He could get a job anywhere. Not to mention he was polite, which was new when it came to doctors. Most thought they were God, and acted like she was an ant.
"Thank you for being so polite by the way. Many people don't like their job interview to be in the hands in someone so young. Most don't understand that I wouldn't be here if I wasn't capable of doing the job."
Mona gave him a smile. It was a test Mona did with many people, to see if ages mattered with them. Some people didn't like working with others who were young and then there was people who didn't like to work with older people. Mona didn't mind either way, she just wanted to work.
"So Dr. Watson, tell me, is there anything special you want from this job? Any experience that you want to achieve?"

"So Dr. Watson, tell me, is there anything special you want from this job? Any experience that you want to achieve?"
John smiled languidly, rubbing his furrowed brow and sighing. "Honestly, Miss Dragoti, or, um, Mona, right... Honestly? I don't want anything from the job but just that: a job. I'm sure civilians such as yourself can't really understand, but... transitioning from the war to normal life is difficult."
Well thank you, captain obvious, for your lovely report. He groaned internally, realizing how ridiculously contrived his statement was, but he kept going.
"What I mean is... is that I'm sort of... trying to..." he said, struggling and stumbling over his words. This was why he hated talking about himself. He could never say the right things that meant something to him, that actually felt real and not fake. "I'm trying to cope... I am a doctor, after all, and helping people is essentially what I do best."

Mona gave Dr. Watson a sympathetic smile and nodded gently. He wanted something to do to get over the war, well Mona could see that. If she had just gotten back from a blood bath, she would want anything to keep her mind occupied. Mona herself though would never pick the hospital as the place to do it. She hated how the stench of the medical instruments filled the halls or how the rooms were filled with the sound of the machines that were the only things that kept people alive.
"That is quite understandable, Dr. Watson. I just wanted to know how you would treat our patients. I don't want someone working here that was only in it for the money. Your reasoning's sound well in intentions so I have no problem with why your here."
Mona looked down at the coffee that she held in her hands and brought it up to her lips and took a sip. She kept her eyes on his as she drank and uncrossed her legs. She set her coffee cup on her thighs with her hands wrapped around it.
"So Doctor are their any questions you want to ask?"

John watched the woman as she spoke, raising an eyebrow and smiling at her words. He flexed his fingers, currently laced and holding his knee in place across his other leg. He pursed his lips, contemplating all that had transpired as he watched her sip out of her coffee cup. He licked his lips apprehensively, and clenched his legs tighter subconciously.
He considered her question for a moment, and chuckled. "Questions? Well, I don't think that much is different here than it was in England... Unless there's something different about American hospitals that I don't know about." He narrowed his eyes with a raised brow. "May I ask why they even bothered to put you on a duty such as this? Especially when you make it seem like I've already got the job... It seems to me like an interview isn't really needed..." He coughed. "Not that I'm complaining or anything, I don't mind..."
He blushed inwardly, eyes flickering from her face to her chest so quickly she definitely missed it. He was thankful for that. He could be such a prude at times, but it wasn't his fault that she'd chosen to wear such a tight, dangerously low cut (well, maybe not that low cut, but it was to him) shirt that morning.

Mona let out a light laugh at the Doctor's cover up.
"Dr. Watson can I tell you the truth, I am just an intern here. They just wanted you to think that you didn't have the job, because they like to think of themselves higher then everyone else in the whole world. I quite frankly would rather be with the patients and caring about their mental health then do physical things suck as this."
Mona gave him a small teasing smile ,"Not that I'm complaining or anything."
This doctor was different from the usual types that worked in the hospital. Mona liked that, she really couldn't stand doctors who thought themselves as God. Mona didn't like God in generally and humans who pretended to be him just made her annoyed. They must of had some sort of mental problem to believe they were in control of death. Death would and could never be controlled.
"So in answer Dr.Watson, the doctor's here are jerks that like me to do their work so they don't have to."

"I quite frankly would rather be with the patients and caring about their mental health then do physical things such as this."
John smiled, crossing his arms and nodding. "I completely agree with you. Its ridiculous how cold and disconnected the medical industry has become, you know?" He sighed. "I want to help people, not take their money and run..."
He was just babbling, but it was anything to get him away from the fact that he couldn't stop staring at the woman's breasts. He closed his eyes and inhaled quietly, blinking and looking her straight in the face. "If you're an intern then you aren't paid anyway. They should do their own damn jobs that they earned their damn degrees for!" he said in quiet anger. "Uh, sorry, sorry..." he rubbed the back of his head, blushing. "Its just... I mean... Um..."
What was with him now? Stumbling over his words? He never does this, and yet, she was just too beautiful to ignore. "Sorry, I'm just a little frazzled is all. I haven't even found a flat yet... Hehe..."

Mona felt a happy smile cross upon her face , before letting out a laugh.
"Dr.Watson you said the same thing I say almost everyday in my head."
She gave him a smile. She had decided that she liked him, even though he was a doctor. He had a nice smile and was kind. He was also just so cute when he stumbled over his words. Like a puppy who looked lost. She thought that it was adorable. of course her adorable was different then others. She saw it in almost a sisterly way, not as a dating way. Though people seemed to get those two confused.
"... I haven't even found a flat yet... Hehe..."
Mona looked at him worriedly. "Where on earth are you going to stay?" She questioned. Mona would feel guilty if he didn't have anywhere that he could call home. She hated when people didn't have homes.
