Get excited guys!
It's time to nominate members for awards! We have three awards this month to nominate for:
-Male of the Month -Female of the Month -Thread of the Month
Criteria for Male and Female of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Active -Constantly contributing to the board and its members -Wonderful RPer (you can provide an excerpt of a post that demonstrates their wonderfulness) -Helpful and friendly
Criteria for Thread of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Engaging, exciting, suspenseful and/or enjoyable to read -All characters demonstrate excellent RPing skills -A defining/memorable thread
Here's what you do. Please nominate who you think should win for each of these awards. Please copy and paste the code below. It is important that you explain WHY you nominate your choices!
After a week or so (or sooner), we'll take these nominations and create a poll with all of the nominees. All members can then vote for the nominee they think should win these wonderful awards! The poll will close the day before April 1st. Also...get excited because not only will we announce awards on the 1st, but more surprises will be revealed!
So have fun, and nominate who you should think win!
ONE MORE THING:
We will be implementing the NEW YORK TIMES in our RP. It will be a section in the table up top displaying "Headlines" of the more public events going on in the "world". We are looking for moments in the threads you're involved in, that would be pretty public...that a newspaper team would pick up on.
For example, in "Something Unexpected", Hamlet created quite a scene that almost got himself arrested. That is something that might be reported on in a news paper.
Large public scenes, events with high-profile people, anything like that.
So even if you'd rather not nominate, please let us know if you are involved in a thread with those kind of things in it.
The code is below:

Here's why! (explain here)
(Nominee's name Here) For THREAD OF THE MONTH
Here's why! (explain here)
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
(Yes, no. Name the thread and suggest a "headline" that you think would describe the event. Its okay if you can't think of one)

I nominate:
Henry Jekyll For MALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! I've been engaging with him in our thread Stay On My Side Tonight and it is my favourite thread on the entire board that I am in so far. It is a pleasure to read his posts day after day and to have my character be introduced to his character little by little in the most engaging, sexy and compelling way possible. Tichy (the RPer) has also done a lot of work for this site including making many graphics for members and the site banner, as well as helping out guests. (OH GOD THAT WAS HARD TO DECIDE! I was down to Roger, Hamlet and Henry.)
Juliet Capulet For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! She is extremely museful and active, and a talented RPer as well. She went against the grain and used a new face for the play by and has stunned me with her grasp of the character and the time and effort she puts into creating plots. I can't wait to see what she'll show in the future.
A Fitting Reward For THREAD OF THE MONTH
Here's why! I think this thread is HILARIOUS. The characters are just not holding back and its clear that the RPers are having a ball. I really love how Faustus plays with the "good angel" and "bad angel" on his shoulders and how Lizzie reacts to him. It's a thread that is entertaining and well-written without having to have a straight plot or epic motive. It's just great.

I nominate: Dr. James FaustusFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! You swanky smooth talker, you Well I've been admiring Faustus from a distance and his womanizing antics (not to mention those inner monologues Yols likes so much lol) always put a silly looking grin on my face. Irene AdlerFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Sherlock's leading lady is always here, always posting. She's in quite a few threads and doesn't let slack when it comes to posting outlets. Which are usually by the way, eventful, lengthly and hell, I enjoy RPing with her. A Fitting RewardFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! Again, admiring from a distance - being the creeper I am. Faustus persistancy and Lizzie's downright stubbornness against him make for some golden moments, who knows if the fixed Faustus will get a name out of her? Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?'EXTRA EXTRA! CAPULET'S RE-OPEN DAUGHTER DEATH CASE!' It's fairly new, the plot between (for now) Juliet and Holmes. The Capulet's lost their daughter - Juliet's sister - Lily, and are bringing Holmes in to re-investigate. This plot will extend to the massive Costume Ball thread thats coming, and it could be fair warning to everyone that Sherlock's magnifying glass is now out, and he's looking for clues.

I nominate: Roger DavisFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Very active, and an absolute joy to rp with. Very helpful and has made beautiful graphics for the site. Christine Daae- de ChagnyFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Even on vacation, she found time to post. Not a day goes by that we don't see her face, and she is always posting. Stop and Smell the Flowers For THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! There are so many people involved with this thread, but they've all found a way to make it work beautifully. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?Nope. Jekyl pretty much covered it.

I nominate:
HAMLET 'HARRY' CHANDLER For MALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! He was a great joy to post with in one of my threads. Even though it was just one thread I've posted with him in, he was just remarkable and so much fun to post with... I loved posting with him. He is an amazing poster.
Juliet Capulet For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! We'll since we just met on one thread in the Church. And that she's invited to the Masquerade Ball, Im sure these two are going to be great friends. She was a joy to post with and so kind and sweet. Even though she was very nervous when she was Meeting Christine. I think they will become close friends.
Chance Encounters For THREAD OF THE MONTH
Here's why! Its a very entertaining thread. Will & Lizzie are very interesting character. I love reading that thread and its going along greatly.
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
Lily Capulet Case!

I haven't been around enough to nominate or be nominated, so I'll abstain this month. I can't think of anyone here who doesn't deserve the award anyway. As for news, I guess the arrival of someone as major as Monte Cristo in New York might be a big deal in itself...?

Alas I am too new here to nominate with any objectivity. In the case of newspapers maybe there can be a classifieds section? If so maybe you can include an ad for a meeting that Doolittle has been placing fliers up for Here

As always John you can advertise the thread in Open Roleplays Yolanda, what do you think of the classifieds section?

I know (already did that) but I had mentioned him placing fliers and other advertisements so I figured it would add a little more "realism". another thing to maybe add in the paper, would be advance buzz for the Capulet Party? Just a suggestion.

I agree with all that was said above. In addition, I nominate: Mark CohenFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! I really do think his posts are excellent and I can completely imagine his character every time he posts. He has been consistently active since the day he joined. Generally, his posts are fun to read and he does great tackling the lovable Mark! Éponine ThénardierFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Well, there is absolutely no reason why she shouldn't be nominated in my book! She's been very active and ever since she's joined, she's just dived right into things...excited to RP, excited to chat, and her posts are detailed and muse-i-ful HiphopscotchFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! I've been following this thread, and am thoroughly entertained by it! Both Puck and Monte Cristo have interesting interaction going, starting with a stolen wallet and picking up from there. It's all just very, very interesting, especially how they react to one another. And the posts are amazingly well written! Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?As already stated, from Something Unexpected...Harry's tantrum and the fact that jewel was stolen from the museum *but no one knows who did it of course*. I'll figure out catchy headlines later You have about a day or so for nominations, so get them in now!

Aw Harry, I'm blushing. Though I do think you mean Puck in place of Éponine.
