My character, Alice is so much very influenced by her dreams. She calls them her home. So It got me thinking about, what do other character's dream of. So here you go.
1)Pick a character and write up a dream. It could be a fantasy of theirs or a recurring dream that keeps them hoping. Make sure that the dream keeps in line with your characters plots or future plots.
OR
2) Pick a character and write up a Nightmare. It could be the past coming back to hunt them in their sleep or an irrational fear of theirs. Same rules that apply to prompt 1.
It can be in first or third person.
It can be past tense or present.
Basically however you write best.
I hope this can be fun or daring for our characters. Here is Alice's.
She was standing face to face the most terrifying thing that she had ever seen. It's hard cold eyes stared back at her in a determined gaze. It looked like it wanted to posses her, to claim her for it's own. To command her. It wanted her, and Alice was helpless to stop it. If it were to come at her now, she would not be able to do anything to stop it.
How had she gotten in trouble so fast?
The dream had started out as any other one before it.
The looming flowers were snickering at her as usual. Whether they be giant or she just small she did not know. No matter, they always acted the same, snobbish with a sodden expression of disdain toward her. Alice had found out that as she grew older, the flower's comments turned crueler toward her. She had done nothing towards them, except maybe ask a question or 2.Or 50. But Alice didn't see the reason for them to be mean to her. She guessed they were naturally that way. Every rose had it's thorns, right?
Alice ignored them and continued walking down the small dusty path. The dress she was wearing was a simple A-line one that was light blue with white lace on the trim. Like always it went to her knees, and was paired with white converse. It was the only thing that connected both of Alice's worlds together. They often were the only thing that kept Alice from thinking it was real. The thing that reminded her that it was just a dream. A wonderful dream of a land she called Wonderland.
She knew the path way like the back of her small pale hand. It was the one that she visited almost every sleeping moment. After a while she always came to somewhere different. A white palace with a beautiful queen. A Red Court with a ruthless killer, or a teas party with a beautiful boy who kept her eyes glued on his. That was her favorite.
But tonight it was a meadow.
A meadow filled dying grass and fallen branches. It was the darkest place that she had ever seen in her Wonderland. The grass had burnt patches in it, in the shape of foot prints. The air held a dark coldness that froze her to her bones. She shivered slightly at the breeze that ran through her golden curls. It was almost as if this place was not attached to her Wonderland.
Then she saw it.
The piercing eyes that stared back at hers. It's body stiff and tense as if it would strike at any moment. It took a step closer to her and Alice was frozen in fear. It grinned at her before moving again and licking it's lips. Alice wanted to run, this feeling of fear new and frightening. She tried to snap out of it but as It moved closer, it seamed that Alice grew stiller. It was almost touching her now. Their faces only inches apart, and Alice was helpless. She wished It away. It was her dream It should just disappear. But there it stood, no matter how hard she wished it was still there.
And then it lunged and grabbed her wrist.
Alice's world went dark.
