Sherlock looked exasperated, and the words he muttered under his breath hurt her feeling a little; he was really rude, this guy. "M'not stupid..."[/color] she muttered back with the same annoyed fervor.
But despite his words and expression, he answered the question anyways. "I solve private cases from time to time. Things people don't want the police involved with. Though the real liberty of not being a part of the police force is the freedom from all of those damned regulations. I dare say that your father's irritation of me solving cases the ways I want to stems from his jealousy of the fact that he must do it the 'proper' way." Dolores tried to force her face to remain innocent and indifferent, though she was sure she agreed with Sherlock. "If ever a person tells you something to remember in life, it is this: the proper way to do something is the way you want to do it."
Dolores nodded. "Uh huh. I mean, school, but... I really wish I could actually live by that," she admitted.

The girl seemed to agree with him on all levels - and he found his fondness for her increasing the further into their conversation they delved. It seemed Gregory had done a fine job at something, after all.
"Uh huh. I mean, school, but... I really wish I could actually live by that," Sherlock rolled his eyes at her obliviousness.
"Of course you can live by it. School in the general sense is compulsory, even I was required to attend for a while until my mother thought it fit to have me home schooled - though, as another thing you should probably remember, there is a way around everything. Assignments set by your school, as well as classwork, can be done just as well in a way slightly different to the expected method, as well as making it unique to yourself. Lord knows any child showing the sense enough to think for themselves should be praised rather than beaten down."
He frowned at the thought, before shaking his head as though to clear away that section of the conversation from his mind, and proceeded to spread out in a boneless manner on the couch.
