Distractions Welcomed

Jiao "Jo" Mahr

She's currently got a deadline coming up for a writing project that she's busy with (expect her to be a bit snippy, haha), but I would love for her to have a distraction or two (or three) in the mean time. I'll start the thread(s) if necessary, and while I would love to have at least one fast thread, I'll take casuals if those are all that are going at the moment.

Anyone keen?

I volunteer Javert! He's a cynical, dead pan cop who walks a very straight line when it comes to his work. I think he and Jiao would get along swimmingly. They also have the same issue with certain expectations based on their race, as his mom was Spanish and his dad was Cajun. He's almost facepalmingly honest and not a very easy person to get along with, so they also have that in common... as well as that they're both extremely honorable and loyal at heart.

I'd offer Jack, but he has way too many threads and Jiao would most likely be like "Phhff."

I guess I'll offer Dahlia too... She's in the hospital right now, on suicide watch for a suicide she didn't mean to try to commit. She studied English too, in college, and is now a poet. She's also mute, so there's that.

Javert sounds like a good match. Where would you suggest that they meet the first time? I'll do a search later to see where he normally hangs out, too.

Would Dahlia be considered 'well known' (at least at NYU)? Jiao might want to try and pick her brain for this project that she's working on at the moment.

He's never really shaken the habit of his beat, to be honest. He loves the city, so he wanders just to enjoy the sights most of the time (and stop crime if he must...) So out of his workplace, he'd be found wandering a bit... in a coffee shop, maybe. I can find a reason to put him most anywhere.

As a poet, not really. But her father was a well-known business man, so if someone did their research...
She's good friends with a chemistry professor at NYU, so maybe he could have made her a bit of a name on campus.

Ok then.... I've already got an opening scene sort of figured out for Jiao meeting Dahlia, I just need to read up on your char a little to work out the specifics and then I'll post it (probably by next weekend... if not sooner).

Javert, I've already got a scene worked out too for meeting him, haha. Just need to find a place to put it in (probably in the Greenwich Village section). I'll pm you as soon as it's posted. I expect it will be on by latest Wednesday.

So, I've been reading up on Dahlia.... hectic! Awesome character! And I love Kate Bush too!

Only one little snag that I can see though. If no one knows she's in hospital.... I'm going to have to rethink my scene that I had in mind before because it's totally not going to work. I might not have something up by this weekend, but will definitely see what I can do.

Awesome character though. I can already see that Jiao is going to love being around her, haha. Just have to figure out how it's going to start.
