Siobhan wasn’t proud that she knew as much as she did about the jail system in New York, but it was information that came in handy. She liked knowing, and knowing kept her from feeling as if she was out of control. She knew very little was currently in her control, but knowing as much as she did make her feel a bit more centred. Having her fate in Brad’s hands, though...she really hoped the judge was a decent person.
"You can probably tell I am not the sort of person who can handle being kept waiting for long."
Siobhan smiled a bit. Oh, yes. She was very much aware that Lady Catherine was not someone who waited for anything. Everything in life was probably at her beck and call. That was what happened when one was titled. She knew some of that after she’d married Jamie, but never to that degree. She was just glad that she seemed to be a decent person to spend time in a jail cell with. She may have been privileged and titled and probably had no concept of punishment, but Siobhan found that she was still a decent person to converse with. That was important in moments like these, after all.
"I myself was never sent to bed without supper, Mrs. Shaw, but I must say I would rather that than remaining in this cell!"
Siobhan chuckled a bit at that. Oh, she was right there with Catherine. Had she gone without supper, she most definitely would not be sitting in a jail cell.
"I mean that as no slight against you, you understand; I simply don't appreciate being treated in this most undignified manner."
“Oh, don’t worry, I completely understand. Sitting in a jail cell, no matter the company, wasn’t my first choice for the evening, either,” she offered. “I’m just hoping that we’re out before midnight.”
After all, she did have things to do. Her next show needed to be written and finalized, she had planned on doing some laundry, and she was sure there would be long moments for self-pity before she finally slept. And the hard benches weren’t ideal for that in the slightest.
“I mean, the NYPD did such a lovely job with our accommodations, but I’d hate to have to sleep here.”
