Penelope smiled shyly at Osric as she completed her reply.
"Well...my name is Penelope LaFontaine, but you can all me Penny. I'm from Canada, I work in horticulture, love plants, flowers, anything with a heartbeat and I want to save the planet and change the world."
She chuckled as the train rolled along the track and smiled at him reassuringly.
"You don't have to worry about me dragging you on an impromptu to date or anything - unless you want one. I'm just letting you adopt one of my orchids."
Her interest perked even more when Osric mentioned his love of music.
"So what kind of music do you sually play or listen to? I'm something of a closet metalhead. I also like a lot of hard rock and some punk. Mostly, if it's loud and noisy and makes me want to headbang or riot, I will listen to it. How about you?"

Osric smiled: he liked that. Penny was cute. I'm from Canada, I work in horticulture, love plants, flowers, anything with a heartbeat and I want to save the planet and change the world." He especially liked that! She seemed like a great person - and the Earth was definitely super important. The fact that she seemed so loving of natural things made Osric smile widely. In the back of his head, he was rather amused by the fact that she was from Canada, but that wasn't very important. "You don't have to worry about me dragging you on an impromptu to date or anything - unless you want one. I'm just letting you adopt one of my orchids."Osric felt himself blush. Oh, maybe he had been a little silly, thinking too far ahead. But she had said, 'Unless you want one'... he nearly said yes, but she had moved on. Damn, he'd missed his chance... Maybe he could ask her later. "So what kind of music do you usually play or listen to?" sje asked. At least this was a subject he could say something interesting about. "I'm something of a closet metal head. I also like a lot of hard rock and some punk. Mostly, if it's loud and noisy and makes me want to headbang or riot, I will listen to it. How about you?"Osric blinked at her, before laughing. "Sorry, sorry, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I just... wasn't really expecting that." He hesitated, before smiling, "That's cute, honest." He had always been fascinated when things didn't present their entirety by looks. Those were the best, like people. "As for me, I... well, I like punk a lot too. Rock's my favorite, I think. I used to be in a band myself, we did like, pop-punk-rock stuff. Can't say I've ever listened to much metal though. Maybe you could show me when we get to your house."[/ul]

Penelope smiled. "It's fine. I'm glad you're interested and not scared of me." She chuckled.
"I need to educate you I think. Punk is fun, but you haven't lived until you've headbanged your way through a ten minute song about the hammer of Thor." She turned her head and stood up as she heard her stop called out over the intercom.
"This is us." She chirped to Osric as she lead him off the train and up the stairs onto the street. She continued talking as crossed an intersection onto her residential block.
"I listen to a lot of power metal, but I like a lot of the more goth metal stuff too. Ever listen to Within Temptation? They have some great stuff. I'd also recommend Nightwish if you like epic music - like film soundtracks meat heavy metal. What kind of punk bands do you like anyway?"
Penelope was aware that she was probably talking too much, so she slowed down as they approached her apartment complex and entered threw the front door. She smiled as she showed Osric to the elevator and pressed the button to the fourth floor. She unlocked the door to her apartment and winced as she realized how much of a mess it had been left in. There were books, CDs and DVDs all over the sofa and on the table. She had been in the middle of sorting and rearranging things.
"This is my place, just throw my dvd sets on the floor and a seat on the couch, I'll pick out a nice orchid for you." Penelope told Osric as she pointed to the stack of Dr. Who DVDs on the sofa as she put her coat and purse away in the closet and went to hunt through her plant collection on the window sill for the aforementioned orchid.

"It's fine. I'm glad you're interested and not scared of me," Penny chuckled. Well, perhaps a little bit startled, Osric thought. But interested, oh yes. "I need to educate you I think. Punk is fun, but you haven't lived until you've headbanged your way through a ten minute song about the hammer of Thor."
"Really!" Osric laughed. The train stopped, and Penny said they got off here. He followed her eagerly, but a little nervously, up her street as she explained to him bands he'd never heard of. He was always willing to try new things, though. He replied when she asked him what he liked, "Hmm, well, Green Day's a bit of a no brainier. Billy Talent, AFI..." He always had trouble with lists, making lists of things he liked. He stopped once they got to Penny's apartment, following her into the elevator. Fourth floor. "I live on the fourth floor of my apartment too!" he exclaimed, sure the coincidence meant something good. "How funny." Entering Penelope's apartment, he slipped his shoes off near the door, looking around at the... well, the mess in the place. But Osric understood, he was just the same way. He could hardly criticize her mess. "This is my place, just throw my dvd sets on the floor and a seat on the couch, I'll pick out a nice orchid for you," Penelope said. "Sure, thanks," Osric smiled, walking over to where were DVD's littered on the furniture. Doctor Who? "Hey, you watch this show?" Osric asked, amused. More surprises. "I've never seen it but it looks pretty cool."[/blockquote]

Penny perked up as Osric sun off a list of bands he listened to.
"Oh!" She exclaimed happily, "I love Billy Talent! They're from my home city, actually. Went to my cousins' high school. I like Three Days Grace too, though I don't now how punk they actually are. Blink of course. Green Day's okay, I prefer their earlier stuff. Do you listen to Sum41?"
Penelope looked at her windowsill full of potted plants for a minute before choose a bright purple orchid. She set it on the kitchen table and grabbed a pen and a pad of paper. She quickly scribbled out a note and tore a page off the pad and folded it. She took the note and the flower and walked to the sofa where Osric was.
"This one's yours", she said as she handed Osric the flower and the note, "I've written out all the instruction on watering and trimming the flower. Hopefully you can keep it alive for a while."
Penelope giggled as she handed the flower and the note over, and noticed that Osric had taken in interest in her Dr. Who DVDs.
Her eyebrows rose in surprise when she heard Osric comment that he never seen the show before.
"It's wonderful! And I don't usually watch too much science fiction. It's about this alien who travels through time and space and has all of these fantastical adventures." She explained as she tidied her DVDs. Suddenly, an idea formed in her mined, and her eye sparkled.
"Say, why don't you come over sometime and we can have a viewing party? That way I can explain the things you don't understand." She looked at Osric inquisitively, waiting for him to answer.

He smiled when Penelope sort of approved to his music taste. Three Days Grace wasn't the best in his opinion, but she thought Green Day was only 'okay' so he supposed it evened out. And the story about Billy Talent was awfully cool. They were playing at warped this year - he really wanted to make it if he had the money by then.
"Do you listen to Sum41?"
"I'm afraid not, I've only heard one song of theirs before," Osric admitted. It hadn't been bad at any lengths, but he didn't remember being sparked with wicked admiration. He ought to try listening again though. He continued poking around Penny's DVDs - there were some good movies there, but he was admittedly intrigued by the large, somewhat crazed looking eyes of David Tennant.
Osric looked up when Penny returned with a potter flower and a note of instructions. He laughed when she said, "Hopefully you can keep it alive for a while."
"Yes, well, I do too," he agreed. He hoped he could. This one was special now, after all. Penny started talking about Doctor Who: "It's wonderful!" He was impressed with her enthusiasm. "And I don't usually watch too much science fiction. It's about this alien who travels through time and space and has all of these fantastical adventures.""That's… interesting," Osric said, for lack of much else to say, because he didn't really get it. Suddenly Penny had an idea: "Say, why don't you come over sometime and we can have a viewing party? That way I can explain the things you don't understand."Osric nodded eagerly, "That sounds fun," he agreed. "Sometime next week?" Then, smiling, "Should we call that a date, then?" He wanted her to say yes. He was in her house already, after all. Sadly he had work in an hour and needed to leave to get ready. But he really wanted to see this girl again. She was… spunky, talkative, a little forward. Pretty. He liked her an awfully lot already.[/blockquote]

Penelope smiled brightly at Osric's enthusiasm at the proposition of seeing each other again.
"Can you come over next Friday night, around 6? I'll make dinner too." She asked, her voice bubbling with excitement. She very much needed to making new friends, good, honest people...and who knew? Besides, Osric seemed kind, and fun, and not put off at all by her forwardness.
She blushed excitedly when Osric suggested calling it a "date".
"Of course." She responded quietly, and she stepped up to him and kissed him lightly on the cheek.
"You can drop by the botanical gardens any time...oh!" She said, suddenly remembering something important, "You need my phone number don't you?"

"Can you come over next Friday night, around 6? I'll make dinner too." Osric nodded eagerly. And... a date... "Of course."
She kissed him. Osric blushed, even though it was just on the cheek. "You can drop by the botanical gardens any time...oh! You need my phone number don't you?"
"Yeah," Osric laughed still a little flustered. He held out his phone for Penny. "Here, you put yours in mine, I'll do the same?"

Penelope laughed. "Of course!" She replied as they switched phones and she thumbed in her contact information.
"Here you go. As I said, drop by the botanical gardens anytime. I could use the company. I can't wait to turn you into a Whovian" She giggled as she led him through her front door.
(OC: I'M SO SORRY! I'v both lacked mue and been insanely busy. We should finish this up and do our date night, yes?)

she said when they returned phones. "As I said, drop by the botanical gardens anytime. I could use the company." Osric nodded, smiling. "I can't wait to turn you into a Whovian."Osric laughed, stepping towards the doorstep. "Oh, boy," he laughed, a little jokingly sarcastic. "Well." He smiled. "I'll see you soon, Penny." He stepped forward and gave the girl a quick and affectionate kiss on the cheek before grinning and stepping briskly down the hallway. He couldn't wait to see Penny again.[/ul]
