It's time that time again! Time to have new faces up on our welcome table We'll have the same awards but here are a few things to keep in mind: 1) the same person cannot win the same award two months in a row (want to give others a chance, so keep that in mind when you make your nominations and voting. You can give that person acknowledgement of course in your post!) 2) Come May 1st, we'll give out awards...which means the people who have awards now will have to give their siggies up so the new winners can feel special But dont worry, we'll have an archive of awards in our graphics section and you can keep a list of the awards you've won in your siggy. 3) For new people (and old, but mostly for those who just joined us this month), you notice that we have a marquee at the top displaying headlines for the NEW YORK TIMES in our RP. Every month we will look for moments in the threads you're involved in, that are pretty public...that a newspaper team would pick up on. Read the paper for examples. Large public scenes, events with high-profile people, criminal activity, big events in general, anything like that is welcome. We're accepting headlines, blurbs, classified ads, and if you want...any ideas of how we could expand the paper So even if you'd rather not nominate, please let us know if you are involved in a thread with those kind of things in it. Or if you have anything to contribute. Here's a reminder of the criteria Criteria for Male and Female of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Active -Constantly contributing to the board and its members -Wonderful RPer (you can provide an excerpt of a post that demonstrates their wonderfulness) -Helpful and friendly Criteria for Thread of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Engaging, exciting, suspenseful and/or enjoyable to read -All characters demonstrate excellent RPing skills -A defining/memorable thread Please nominate who you think should win for each of these awards. Please copy and paste the code below. It is important that you explain WHY you nominate your choices! After a week or so (or sooner), we'll take these nominations and create a poll with all of the nominees. All members can then vote for the nominee they think should win! The poll will close the day before May 1st. Also...get excited because not only will we announce awards on the 1st, but to continue our trend...we'll have a small added surprise on that day as well. So have fun, and nominate who you should think win! The code is below:

(Yes, no. Name the thread and suggest a "headline" and even a short "blurb" that you think would describe the event. Its okay if you can't think of one)

I nominate:
Dr. James Faustus For MALE OF THE MONTH
Reading his posts never fails to bring a grin to my face. XD The way he acts around women is a source of great amusement to me as I know of lot of guys in my year like that; their attitudes bug the heck out of me but as for Faustus I'm a big fan. As for the roleplayer; Yols, my dear, what would I do without you? You accepted both my characters, you answer all my question no matter how silly and trvial and, most importantly thus far in my book, you helped to bring Richard Plantagenet to the Rewritten City stage. <3
Elissa 'Dido' Purcell For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why!
Sasha is, I have found, a very patient and friendly member with a good sense of humour. She contributes regularly to the board is can often also be found in the c-box for a quick chat. Her roleplay posts are always well written and detailed; it is evident she really thinks about what she writes and knows her character well. She is also a very helpful young lady, helping me come up with plots and various other things about the board. ^^ Not to mention her re-invention and potrayl of Dido are just spot on. Absolutely amazing. <3
A Fitting Reward For THREAD OF THE MONTH
Here's why!
I forgot to do this earlier but as soon as I thought to do so, this was the first thread that came to mind. It is clear that both roleplayers are having a ball in character; I love Elizabeth's characteristic eloquence and having her pitted against Faustus who's pulling all the stops to woo her...it's great fun to read. ^^
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
A thread that I think should get into The New York Times is 'Begin The Brawl' with Richard, Edward, Dido and any others who turn up. The basic plot of the thread as Sasha and I have it figured out is that Richard and Edward began arguing over Edward's choosing to ignore a popular policy but soon these accusations got a lot nastier. Dido had come to City Hall to formally apologize for her crazy behaviour at the Capulet Ball and happens to eavesdrop or even walk in on the argument, discovering just how close Edward is to death. I think this thread would work for The Times as it contains very high profile people and they're fighting, which is even better where the media are concerned. XD Also if the media pick up on this argument they too will discover Edward's condition and make it known throughout the city (not that Edward will try and stop them, considering the fact he loves attention).
Hmmm...a headline for this thread...that's hard. Probably something with Breaking News in the title considering the fact that the Mayor's going to die, macabre and uncaring as that sounds. As for a blurb the thread hasn't really gotten started as of yet (April 25th, my time) so I doubt much can be written about it save what I've already said but I think it would be good as Edward's condition is just begging to be made public, and how better than through a blazing elite argument?
This isn't an article idea, but...
I recentley had a thought about adding to the newspaper in the form of interviews. I was thinking is an anonymous 'Journalist/Reporter' account was created (which everyone or a certain member if they want to have the job) would know the password to. Once logged onto this account the Journalist would PM the character they wished to interview and they would set up a thread in The New York Times board, roleplaying in character as interviewer and interviewee.
For example, say I wanted to interview Hamlet about the scene at the museum. I would log onto the Journalist account, PM Yols and set up a thread...
Journalist: The journalist was eager to interview the so called prince of Hamlet Enterprises. Notebook and pen in hand he waited eagerly to be called into his office...
Then Yols would reply in character as Hamlet.
Etcetera.
I was thinking if different roleplayers wanted to be the Journalist at different times and for different types/classes of characters then we could get a nice variety of styles going; gossip columnist, business reporter, political correspondant etc.
If the idea doesn't work that's perfectly fine; just a thought. =)

I nominate: Richard PlantagenetFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Richard's only been in play for just over a week but already he's making an impact. Also, the fact that he's almost nailed thirty posts says that he's very active and constantly posting. He's willing to discuss new ideas and enter new threads. All that in just eight days? Genius. Bunny JacobsFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Again, active and a talented poster. Her reinvention of Berenice is intriguing and the way she worked with Poe's entire story just makes for a very interesting character. Yes, I don't get to chitchat very often with her (yay time differences) but when I do, I see that she loves her character, Éponine too. Taking You Closer To The EdgeFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! Admittedly, I'm a bit of a thread creeper I had a look through this thread and the comradly chemistry between Ben and Mercutio is right there. Great posts between them and I look forward to where its gonna lead. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?Perhaps something a huge as the Capulet ball kicking off would be something to throw into that there paper? EXCLUSIVE! CAPULET BALL TAKES OFF! 'The prestigious Capulet family have opened their home to the most illustrious of our society, there having been rumour of this for some time. Some of the city's highest were seen attending, including Count Monte Cristo and Mr Richard Plantagenet. The ball was also opened to the majority of the social public as well.'

I nominate: Mercutio FacetiaFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! Oh, where to start? I'll start with Randi. The passion and dedication she puts into Mercutio are evident. She's thought about every facet of his life while reinventing him in a perfect manner. Her posts as Mercutio are always such a pleasure to read because they capture his spirit and, let's be honest, are hilarious! <3 Éponine ThénardierFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! I always love reading Sarah's posts because they are so well thought out and detailed. Now, I'm not familiar with Les Mis, but I have no doubt that she's reinvented her to suit our crazy little world. She's an active member of this community, too, which is amazing! Stay on my Side TonightFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! Okay, yeah. Thread stalker here. I absolutely love this thread between Mimi and Henry. It's dramatic, yet it's humourous at the same time. Watching the two different characters with extremely different personalities is a treat. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?*ponders* Nope, I think it's been said by Ricky and Sherly. =P

I nominate:
Benvolio Montague For MALE OF THE MONTH
Ben's a quietly snarky bundle of nerves that I enjoy creeping on reading, who fits right in with his Shakespearean comrades ever since he first skid into "Of Thieves and Nobles". Young Montague's involved in quite a few threads right now, but doesn't slack on interesting updates.
Mimi Márquez For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
You spitfire lady, you. Mimi's a gorgeously developed character, and I really feel she's come into her own this month between interactions with Roger and Henry and such. There's no reason I can think of why she shouldn't be nominated.
Promise Me You'll Try For THREAD OF THE MONTH
This encounter between Mrs. Daaé de Chagney and Mister Meursalt is constantly dramatic and constantly updated. I'm impressed by the dedication both roleplayers have put into the thread, which shows in the length and the content of the writing.
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
Not currently, thank you.

Good god you guys. *blushes madly* I really wasn't expecting this reception. Thank you all so much, you are all wonderful, and I'd nominate you all but that's not really possible. You are all excellent, and if I haven't mentioned you, don't take it personally. I nominate:
BENVOLIO MONTAGUE For MALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! Dude dude dude I was so excited when Benny arrived because Mercutio finally had HIS BEST FRIEND. I mean of course Romeo is his best friend too, but, Romeo ditches him all the time for Juliet. Sorry bro. In all seriousness, I really enjoy reading Ben's posts. Her reinvention and writing style is perfect and she has nailed this character and his mannerisms. I enjoy to work off of her and I can't wait to continue with our plot.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Faustus and Richard.
ÉPONINE THÉNARDIER For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! I had so much plotting with her in the beginning, and now finally our plot has turned into action through the Costume Ball thread. I love her posts. She really allows us to get into the character's head and thoughts - she is very connected to Eponine. I also really like the interaction we've got going on.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Puck and Elissa.
A REGULAR EXAMINATION ForTHREAD OF THE MONTH
Here's why! I was creepering...and I've got to say, very neat stuff going on here. I really like how Henry and Bunny seem to have this near immediate connection, how they can relate to eachother, and how they play off eachother. It's wonderful stuff, well-written. I can't wait to read more.
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
I think everything has been established.

Wow, I feel so loved! =D I nominate:
MERCUTIO FACETIA For MALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! Given that Mercutio is Ben's best friend, about half of the threads I'm involved in feature him. I have to say, Randi's reinvention is spot-on! Randi's also great to roleplay with: she's always available to bounce ideas off of, and her posts never disappoint.
Rose "Belladonna" Maylie For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! Tichy's version of her is really fun to read! She's not involved in too many threads yet, but I can't wait to creepily read see where she goes on the site.
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
Maybe the events of Of Thieves and Nobles, if the group ever gets around to stealing the mask. "Mask Stolen from Monte Cristo's Greenwich Home" or some such title.
