Canon: RENT
Custom Title: One Song Glory
PHYSICAL
Age: 23

Height: 5'7''
Body: Scrawny due to all the weight he lost during withdrawal, but still has some muscle.
Other distinguishing features: His rough, rockstar voice.
Wardrobe: A lot of Roger's clothes are old and tattered, but he keeps himself looking decent. A lot of the things he chooses to wear are small reminders of his old lifestyle; he's well known for his plaid pants and leather jacket
Play By: Adam Pascal
PERSONALITY
General personality: There has always been one side of Roger's personality that he's found very difficult to control; he can be very angry, jealous, or depressed at times, which can usually lead him to locking himself somewhere to sulk. Roger's other half can be very outgoing and charming, easily the life of the party. He can easily stop people dead with a song.
At 23 years old, Roger has been through more heartache than the normal 23 year old. Of course, Roger is just another normal young twenty-something, with an amazing ability to easily act younger than his age. A free spirit with a wild sense of humour, Roger can easily be the life of the party. He can also be bitter and very cold. Ofttimes, Roger doesn't realise how much his words can hurt until it is too late. Roger can also be very protective and jealous of the people he loves and cares about.

History:
Roger was born to Anne and Robert Davis, a small, honest family. Mr. and Mrs. Davis tried very hard to give their son what he wanted, and when he was five, he wanted a guitar; so, of course, they went right out and bought him one. Throughout middle school and high school, Roger's interests lied more in writing songs and playing the guitar than actually learning, so he barely passed high school.
During his last year of high school, Roger started a garage band, and as soon as the boys graduated, they headed for New York City, where they were quickly launched into the spotlight. His good looks and rough, rockstar voice made him easy game for the hundreds of groupies that seemed to come to the shows. The rush of sex and drugs caught up with Roger; it started innocently enough with cocaine to keep him awake for shows, but at one of the shows, he was introduced to heroin, and easily fell for it's charms. He went from show to show, drinking and sleeping with anyone he came in contact with.
It was at one of those random gigs (in his opinion, anyway) where he met April Ericson, a pretty girl from a rich but broken home, who shared all of his interests. They hooked up fairly quickly, and what surprised Roger even more was that April stayed with him when his fame started to die down. They eventually moved into an apartment with Roger's friend Mark and his girlfriend Maureen, and the two tried to change their act and get clean.
However, one morning, Roger woke up to the sound of the bath running. There was a note lying on the bed next to him: "WE'VE GOT AIDS". Instantly, Roger shot up and ran towards the bathroom, but April was already dead. This discovery and loss left Roger in a state of depression that he's barely been able to shake. It's because of that discovery (and the fact he was going through withdrawal) that he never left the loft.
On Christmas Eve one year later, Roger met Mimi, the mysterious and beautiful stranger from downstairs. The entire apartment had lost electricity, and she had come asking him to light her candle. He agknowledged her flirtatious advances, but refused to act on them; why start a relationship it would only end in pain and heartache?
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:
Roger sat on the roof and stared at his leather guitar case. He hadn't played in a while. Not since April's death. It seemed pointless to even be bothered. But for the sake of not committing suicide, play it dammit!
Roger sighed, but grabbed his guitar and tested a few rough chords. He flinched. Those were terrible. "Back to the basics then..." Roger grumbled to himself. He'd been out of practice for too long...
He tested a few minor notes. Those sounded worse. This guitar isn't worth shit., He thought in disgust, then almost felt guilty. Collins and Mark had bought him the thing two years ago, meaning they weren't able to eat for at least two weeks.
Roger set the guitar back down gently and stared at the sky, frowning slightly.
I need a hit.
He quickly erased the thought from his mind.
You're going to go clean. For Mark. Remember?
"For Mark or not, I still want a hit." Roger mumbled to himself. He tried to focus on something different. The sky. The stars. The people in the streets... A dealer. He looked closer. Yup, a dealer. He tried to resist the urge to jump up, run downstairs, and buy some drugs. He wanted it so bad...
He needed smack. He doesn't just want it. He needed it. Just one more hit. He told himself, nodding quickly and rising to his feet, One more. And then I will stop for good.
Roger went back inside, trying to sneak past Mark's room. Don't wake up. Don't wake up. Don't wake up. One of the floorboards creeked beneath him. He flinched and did not move. Everything seemed to freeze.
And yet Mark continued to snore soundly.
Allowing himself to breath once more, Roger tiptoed quietly out the door and bolted down the stairs and out of the apartment.
Roger ran across the street, trying to find the dealer again. His green eyes scanned the over-crowed street, a lump of panic forming in his throat. The urge to shoot up was becoming too strong for him to handle.
Where the hell are you?
