Hi, my name is Batty and this is my first character. I found this site through an ad on The Vampire Diaries RPG site. Something you should know about me is I'm a waitress..
Canon: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Custom Title: I have liked many a stupider person.
PHYSICAL
Age: twenty-two
Gender: female
Appearance:
Height: 5 feet and 7 inches
Body: tall and lean with pleasant curves.
Other distinguishing features: said to be the most beautiful young lady in Longbourn and in the Bennett family.
Wardrobe: Always tidy, Jane prefers dresses to pants. She will always choose an empire-waist dress before anything else, although she does dress casually on occasion. She always dresses impeccably, even when going casual. She is not to be seen looking like a slob.[/ul]
Play By: Dianna Agron
PERSONALITY
General personality: Jane is quiet and reserved, and generally considered to be sweeter than her sister Elizabeth, but not as quick-witted or intelligent. According to her sister, she is "a great deal to apt to like people in general," which is the truth. She tries her hardest not to see a fault in anyone, and always does her best to emphasize peoples' best qualities. Jane is especially close to Elizabeth, as they are the closest in age among the Bennett girls. She is loving and loyal and always puts her family before anything or anyone else.
Jane is a romantic, and she dreams of finding love. Her mother would much prefer her to marry someone of fabulous means than to marry for love, but she is determined to marry someone for whom she cares deeply. That is her one small defiance- she usually defers to the requests of her parents, but on this matter she will not be swayed. Money is of little to no importance to Jane. If and when she marries, it will be because she genuinely cares about the man in question.
Quotes, frequently used expressions: "Be fair, Lizzy." "I liked him/her a great deal."
Likes: (please list at least three)
Dislikes: (please list at least three)
Strengths: Jane always does her best to see the best in people, and very rarely judges them on their failings. She is also a very loyal person, and as such is a great friend and sister to have. Jane is very kind-hearted, and will go out of her way to do kindnesses for other people.
Weaknesses: Each of her strengths also serves as a weakness: Jane rarely sees peoples' worst sides, and therefore can get burned by them without seeing it coming. Her kindness toward others also comes back to bite her occasionally- people tend to take advantage of her charity. Her other weakness is that she is a hopeless romantic, and tends to get lost in day dreams occasionally.
BACKGROUND
Family: Mother and Father, four sisters: Elizabeth, Mary, Catherine, and Lydia
Education: Jane was educated at home by her mother, along with her four sisters. After being homeschooled for her whole life, she got her teaching certificate
Occupation: Jane is a preschool teacher.
Worst past experience: Jane was supposed to get engaged to a young man, but he moved away and she never heard from him again.
Best past experience: Jane has had a wonderful upbringing, and she can honestly say that any memory she shares with Elizabeth is a fond one.
Image: People often think of Jane as being much to reserved, and she is shy, but you just have to get to know her. She's really very sweet, but because she is so introverted, people may tend to see her as aloof.
History: Jane and her sisters were brought up in Longbourn, England, not far from London. They were educated at home, and were all very close, but Jane's dearest friend was and remains her sister Elizabeth.
As a young woman in England, Jane met a young man, Charlie, and fell rather hard for him, and she expected him to propose very soon, but he moved away very suddenly one summer and she never heard from him again. After the unraveling of that relationship, Jane decided she wanted to be more than just a stay-at-home mom and housewife, so she packed her bags and headed stateward to attend University at NYU.
She majored in early childhood education and got her teaching certificate and now teaches preschool at a small Catholic school downtown. She still thinks of Charlie occasionally, and wonders where he went and why.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample: Jane sat on the edge of her bed, unable to form complete thoughts. She had just come home from the market, only to pass Charlie's house and see a SOLD sign in the front yard, the house completely abandoned by her boyfriend. Well, ex-boyfriend, now, she supposed. She hadn't heard from him in several days, but she had supposed him to just be busy. But for him to be completely gone? It was beyond comprehension. She felt as though she should be crying, but she couldn't will tears to come and spring from her eyes, so she just sat there, perched on the edge of her bed and waited. For what, she had no idea.
After what felt like hours (even though it was only about thirty minutes), Jane made her way down the stairs to the living room to share her sad news with her sisters. Upon entering the drawing room, she announced her woes to her sisters and mother.
"Charlie's gone," Jane said simply. "He's left. The house is sold, and all his belongings are gone." She waited for their reaction, expecting someone to speak or come up with an outburst.
"I'm sure he had good reason," Jane continued, more to convince herself than any of the ladies. Jane, as Lizzy had pointed out on many occasions, was much to apt to like people in general and to defend their good character
Jane stood in the doorway, trying to think of more to say to justify Charlie's inexcusable actions. "I'm sure he will call soon to explain," she said, once more in an an attempt to convince herself more than her sisters.
She remained in the doorway, unsure of what to say next. She wasn't sure what her own feelings were at the occasion, to be honest, and she couldn't imagine what she should do that would be considered appropriate for the situation.
