BOO!
HALLOWEEN IS TAKING OVER REWRITTEN CITY!!! SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE FOR YOUR SURVIVAL! 1) Looking to RP something Halloweeny? We got you! Check out the Crack RP section for TWO huge threads to join (they're just for fun, no worries! And they have no effect on your actual RPing). We have The Living Dead and awesome Halloween Party! Everyone jump in! 2) We've done some staff rearranging in case you guys have been out of the loop. Lucy Harris is our new moderator and she is also in charge of updating anything that needs updating on the site...music player, face claim list, absence list, all of that good stuff. So hit her up in the cbox or PM for questions or concerns as well. Richard Plantagenet is now in charge of the New York Times! So hit her up in the cbox on over PM as well if you have any ideas for the paper, or any other concerns in regards to that. Tichy is now accepting applications so don't be shocked if she is the one going "ACCEPTED!" and not me or Mimi Now time to do those nominations guys! RULES! 1) the same person cannot win the same award two months in a row (want to give others a chance, so keep that in mind when you make your nominations and voting. You can give that person acknowledgement of course in your post!)
2) Come November 1st, we'll give out awards...which means the people who have awards now will have to give their siggies up so the new winners can feel special But dont worry, we'll have an archive of awards in our graphics section and you can keep a list of the awards you've won in your siggy.
3) For new people (and old, but mostly for those who just joined us this month), you notice that we have a marquee at the top displaying headlines for the NEW YORK TIMES in our RP. Every month we will look for moments in the threads you're involved in, that are pretty public...that a newspaper team would pick up on.
Read the paper for examples. Large public scenes, events with high-profile people, criminal activity, big events in general, anything like that is welcome. We're accepting headlines, blurbs, classified ads, and if you want...any ideas of how we could expand the paper So even if you'd rather not nominate, please let us know if you are involved in a thread with those kind of things in it. Or if you have anything to contribute. Here's a reminder of the criteria Criteria for Male and Female of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Active -Constantly contributing to the board and its members -Wonderful RPer (you can provide an excerpt of a post that demonstrates their wonderfulness) -Helpful and friendly Criteria for Couple/Duo of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Excellent RPs together -Either have one or more of the following - Chemistry/Rivalry/Romance/Teamwork/Interesting dynamic or pairing -RPers work well together Criteria for Thread of the Month: Should have many of these qualities -Engaging, exciting, suspenseful and/or enjoyable to read -All characters demonstrate excellent RPing skills -A defining/memorable thread Please nominate who you think should win for each of these awards. Please copy and paste the code below. It is important that you explain WHY you nominate your choices! After a week or so, we'll take these nominations and create a poll with all of the nominees. All members can then vote for the nominee they think should win! The poll will close the day before November 1st. So have fun, and nominate who you think should win! The code is below:

(Yes, no. Name the thread and suggest a "headline" and even a short "blurb" that you think would describe the event. Its okay if you can't think of one. Also if you have ANY other ideas besides headlines for the newspaper, let us know and we can see if we can add it :D)

I nominate: Roger DavisFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! I think this is going to be my second time nominating Roger and what I mentioned in the first nomination still applies here. Muse doesn’t seem to be an issue this time around, though. It goes without saying that the way Sammeh writes Roger is masterful. Brilliant characterization and an astonishing ability to convey the two startling extremes of amusing antics and heart-gripping melancholy. Roger is an amazing character and with Sammeh pulling the strings, he comes beautifully to life on RC. Bravo. Honorable mentions: Johnny Brain Cade. He’s fairly new to RC, but holds some great promise already. Written beautifully by Taylor as well. Smythe “Gollum” Gull. Thrilling characterization of one we all love to hate or vice versa. Joan “La Pucelle” ArkFor FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! First of all, wow. Upon reading her completed application, I knew straight-off that this character was something undeniably special. Such an awe-inspiring grasp on Joan’s frailty and a character that simply seizes your attention and keeps it. Her posts are wonderfully detailed and provide insight into a mind so wrought with flaws that it manifests into actual sympathy and adoration for Joan. Unlike her, however, I don’t need “voices” to convince myself that Joan is definitely worthy of praise. Amazing. Honorable mentions: Katherine Minola. She’s fiery, isn’t she? Also a pleasure to read. Jane Eyre. I’ve nominated her “x-amount-of-times” because she is “x-amount-of-awesome”. ^^ God Save A Poor Wretch Like MeFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! Why, you ask? Well if you read it you wouldn’t be asking. In all seriousness, this thread is another gem on RC. Brilliant writing on both parts. Roger and Joan would seem an awkward pairing, but they play off of each other so well. I thoroughly enjoy their interactions and Roger is such a sweetheart for not passing judgment on Joan and her “friends”. I also love how appreciative Joan is of someone accepting her as she is, voices and all. It's a very poignant thread and a great read. Highly recommended for all you thread stalkers out there. I nominate: Lucy Harris and Henry JekyllFor COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! Alright. It is probably terrible form for me to nominate myself for anything and I apologize, but hear me out. This is only my second character ever and my first time pairing a character with someone else. The first character I had was not prone to forming connections with people, HUGE understatement *cough*crazed murderer*cough*, so this is an entirely new experience for me. I have to say, though, that the transition has been made all the less painful by Tichy’s utterly splendiferous Henry. It’s still early days for Lucy and Henry, but with the angst-filled thread going on at the moment you know there is a storm brewing on the horizon. Both are looking for some semblance of solace and find it in each other. It isn’t about possession or need, but about surrender. Sweet, mutual surrender. Don’t go rolling your eyes at the sappiness, however. There are oh so wicked things in mind for these two. Just you wait. Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?Nada, I’m afraid. I’m useless this month. -.-

I nominate:
Doctor James Faustus For MALE OF THE MONTH
I think I've nominated the good (cough) doctor before but I'm doing so again. Since 'Fabula' officially drew to a close this month I want to acknowledge the part he played in that; not only did he help out my dearest Rickyboy but he was such fun to read along the way. I'm also avidly stalking the thread between him and Hector Tormei...hasn't he learned by now? =P Also...can't wait to see how things turn out between him and Richard in the end; more drama is still to unfold there methinks!
Joan "La Purcelle" Ark For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
I, like Alex, was awed by the detail and richness of Joan's application, and am really enjoying seeing her recreated here at Rewritten City. (Shakespearean history plays FTW, by the way. No I am not biased.) Anyway...from what I've seen of Joan thus far she is a truly unique and inspiring character. This may sound odd but I think it's refreshing to see a character who genuinely has faith in God. I'm really enjoying her thread with Roger and can't wait to see more from her! One to watch!
Miracles Don't Happen For THREAD OF THE MONTH
It started with Hector and Katherine before Hamlet entered the scene; all characters are played fantastically and play off each other really well; Hector and Katherine's argument, then Hamlet and Katherine's discussions...it's a joy to read. Can't wait to see where this goes! ^^
I nominate:
Lucy Harris & Jane Eyre For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTH
You wouldn't have thought these two could get on, but it's evident they've become great friends. Both roleplayers really express this well in their writing, and the way they write their characters is, as ever, excellent. The plot that's coming to fruition was set in motion with their thread...naturally I can't wait for that either. Alex and Kay are such brilliant roleplayers and such lovely people..they deserve to be rewarded for that! (:
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
Ricky's probably going to make some policy adjustments so I'll have something up about that. -shifty eyes-
Also, the art gallery opening Medea and Lady C are attending...that might help to bulk out the news a bit if it's thin on the ground again. Just a short thing about the new gallery and how Lady C helped set it up because she's so NICE. XD I'll write that up too. ^^

I nominate: For MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! (explain here) Jane EyreFor Here's why! Jane has replied to both of the threads I have with her in a (relatively) timely manner. And it is apparent to me that she thinks about what Jane would do or say (However I had not actually read "Jane Eyre" So my opinion is uninformed.) But her reactions are consistant and the threads I am playing with her are turning out interestingly. It tolls for meFor Thread of the monthHere's why! I know it may be kind of cheating to nominate a thread I happen to be involved with, but I have enjoyed it's developement and it has allowed me to expand a bit on John Doolittle. Especially since Polynesia is nowhere around. I love the somber tone of the thread and I can hardly wait to see how it goes. I nominate: (Nominees' names Here)For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! I nominate:
Roger Davis For MALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! Have you read his journal? Oh my god, I don't know a single thing about RENT but the whole thing is so well-written and hysterical and real; if people bottled that up and sold it at the store, it'd be called AwesomeSauce or some other food product. But crappy metaphor aside, Sammeh is always on and super helpful (i.e. saved my computer from death by MSN virus) and always posting.
(Nominee's name Here) For FEMALE OF THE MONTH
Here's why! I didn't nominate a female of the month because I'm kinda new here and I haven't lurked enough threads to choose one.
My Kid Brother? Sure. For THREAD OF THE MONTH
Here's why! Okayyy so, newbie that I am, I haven't read a lot of threads, but I have read this one. Besides the obvious - it's active, it's well-written, that kinda stuff - it's just - I dunno. Dynamic. And sad, in a depressing sort of way. Roger and Ponyboy, despite being complete strangers, just connect even though their stories are both different. Plus I like how Roger keeps referring to Ponyboy as 'The Boy'.
I nominate:
Sylvia Hayes and Two-Bit Matthews For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTH
Here's why! I'm not even sure this is legit or not, since I haven't read an actual thread from them (that I know of) but they turned me into an ICC lurker. They're always - seriously, always - in the ICC causing drama and just being plain hilarious and swapping insults that make me laugh so loudly my dogs stare at me and I'll end up randomly grinning like a loon in class whenever I think about it.
Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?
Um. C: No idea. Sorry!

I nominate: Johnny CadeFor MALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! I knew Taylor's version of Johnnycake would be amazing as soon as I laid eyes on her application, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. It's plain as day in every one of her posts that she takes a lot of effort to strive for perfection, from the seamlessly natural slang to the details in Johnny's thoughts. Playing a relatively quiet character myself, I know how difficult it is sometimes to put the right combination of thoughts and dialogue together in a post, but she does it amazingly well. I seriously can't think of anyone that could possibly do any better. Honourable mentions: Two-Bit Mathews. His icc converstions are always irresistably funny, and even in serious situations he manages to bring either a huge grin or uncontrollable laughter to your face. Roger Davis. I can scarcely believe how quickly Sammeh replies to threads, and her playing of Roger is so real in my mind that I doubt I'd get as much even from the actual canon material, which I'm determined to watch someday. His journal is constantly updated, and if all Sammeh's posts are as amazing as they are in her thread with me, I really don't know what to say. For FEMALE OF THE MONTHHere's why! I don't lurk threads half as much as I should, so for now I'll have to leave this blank. The Living DeadFor THREAD OF THE MONTHHere's why! Not sure if crack rps can be nominated, and if not just ignore this. Anyway. This thread is barely in the beginning stages but already has an elaborate plot planned with a very big serving of beautiful angst. I, for one, am always giddy with happiness when there's a new post, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Really, this has to be one of the greatest threads to celebrate Halloween with ever. I nominate: For COUPLE/DUO OF THE MONTHHere's why! The only duo/couple I can think of is Sylvia and Two-Bit, but Taylor already nominated them for me. XD Have something for THE NEWSPAPER?...nope. *hides* Sorry!

Post by THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO on Oct 29, 2010 17:54:49 GMT -5
I'm totally skipping nominations... again. I haven't been around much and I'm still getting to know all the new kids. But, while writing a post for a certain really awesome thread, I had a thought: Have something for THE NEWSPAPER? I dunno what you all have planned to say about our new mayor, but, if the taxes thing comes up again, you might mention that not everyone is complaining about them. Monte Cristo's been pretty quiet about it (as he always is). But his investment firm is still doing really well... which kind of makes you wonder if he's just a financial genius or if there's something he's hiding (i.e. where he got his outrageous wealth from). Dat's all I got for now. Let me know if I should clarify any more.
