Hi, my name is Penny and this is my first character. I found this site through a friend . Something you should know about me is I play the best damn Ichabod Crane in these here parts… =P
Canon: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Custom Title: Villainy wears many masks, none of which so dangerous as virtue
PHYSICAL
Age: 24
Gender: male
Appearance: The tall young man at times seems to resemble the "tall, dark, and handsome" type that many women favor. Unfortunately, he is quite the opposite. Yes, his height seems to give him an edge over smaller men, but as the case is with many large dogs, such as an Irish Wolfhound, the tiniest Chihuahua is the scarriest thing in the world.
For someone with such an upright nature as himself, Ichabod choses to wear rather, well, relaxed clothing. One would expect a highly respected forensic scientist to wear a suit, or at least dress pants and an ironed shirt, but Ichabod does not put that much thought into his wardrobe. Dark jeans and a wrinkled dark tshirt are the usual choices of the youth, which seems to be very contradicting to the stiffness of his personality. But Ichabod believes that his work will speak for itself, and he needs not dress up to prove a point.
Height: 6’
Body: lean
Other distinguishing features: brown hair that he changes frequently due to boredom
Wardrobe: sneakers, jeans, and either a t shirt or button down [/ul]
Play By: Eric Szmanda
PERSONALITY
General personality: Well, for being such a tall fellow, Ichabod has an unnatural fear of… well… just about everything. He’s terrified of heights, dark, bugs (especially spiders), rodents, pretty much any animal at all, and anything he can’t explain. Ichabod has an incredibly scientific way of seeing things, and anything unusual or perhaps “supernatural” scares the living daylights out of him.
But, besides that, Icky (yes, that is what many chose to call him) is a fine, upstanding young man. Granted, he doesn’t get out much or even attempt to watch sports, and instead spends his spare time reading true crime novels about Charles Manson and Al Capone and Jeffery Dahmer. His work in the criminology field is basically his life, and he finds it very hard to leave it, even if it is just for a moment to have a cup of coffee with a coworker, or, perhaps, on an extremely rare occasion, a date.
Quotes, frequently used expressions: “I see…,” “Interesting…” & “Be… Because!”
Likes:
Dislikes:
Strengths: His intellect proves to save the day eventually… no matter how long that *cough* uhm… takes.
Weaknesses: His intolerance for anything gruesome creates quite a problem in his chosen career, thus resulting in frequent vomiting and fainting.
BACKGROUND
Family: Margaret Crane –mother
Jameson Crane –father
Mason Crane –younger brother, 18 (Young Masbeth in the story)
Education: high class private education all through grade school, and attended John Jay School of Criminal Justice in NYC & received a degree in forensic science
Occupation: forensic scientist/crime scene analyst for NYPD
Worst past experience: being forced to go through a haunted house by his little brother, having a panic attack, and fainting
Best past experience: meeting the beautiful young woman at the end of the haunt that helped him calm down
Image: to put it nicely, people generally seem to view him as a wimp.
History: Ichabod was born to a wealthy family in a small town in lower New York. He attended a private Catholic school his grade school years, and was sent away to Pennsylvania to a boarding school to finish out his high school education. Unfortunately, he was not graced with a normal name, and was tortured his entire life because of it. This is more than likely one of the causes of his many phobias, but, digressing, he managed to live through it… somewhat.
His younger brother, Mason, stood up for him ever since he could talk, and Ichabod loves him more than anything in the world. The Crane boys parents, however, were less than loving. They favored a nanny over parenting themselves, and rarely interacted with the two, not even tucking them in or kissing them goodnight, and chose to stay as physically and emotionally far away from their children as possible.
They did provide for them, as noted in their education, and bought them everything their hearts could desire. But, as we all know, money cannot buy happiness. Mason managed to save his youth through sports. Ichabod, on the other hand, was not as lucky. He fell into a deep depression, contemplating suicide, until his brother found a way to draw him out of the dark through science.
From that moment on, Ichabod was passionate about one thing- truth. He conducted experiments in his bedroom- creating tests to prove various theories and hypothesis. He became lively again, and enrolled in a private university in the middle of New York City to further his scientific education. After graduating with a degree in forensic science at the top of his class, Ichabod was soon hired by the New York Police Department as a crime scene analyst. His ever supporting parents pay for his rent in a small but elegant apartment in Manhattan, and he lives quite comfortably, but very much alone.

A rattle sounded behind Ichabod as he held the ring tenderly in his thin hands, causing him to jump. The ring slipped from his fingers, causing him to gasp and lunge for it, catching it as it fell. He trembled slightly as he placed the token back in its velvet box and closed the lid, sighing heavily before placing the treasure back in his pocket.
Why him? Why Ichabod Crane? Why must his love have been taken away from him so abruptly? Neither science nor reason could explain it. Sleepy Hollow had taught him a lesson, an important one at that. It poked a hole in his beliefs and theory's, proving them false, and at the same time strengthening them. He was confused. Horribly confused. What sort of black magic had whisked him away to this dreadful place with insane barbers and talking dogs and clumsy bakers and dismembered hands on counters..
As the carriage lurched to a stop, Ichabod glanced over his shoulder as a girl was helped out, a blonde. Her hair.. her posture.. her mannerisms.. Katrina? Impossible. Impossible. But after all he had experienced in this mansion, anything was possible. Impossible things were happening every day, and he was slowly getting used to it. But no, it could not be Katrina. Not possibly. He closed his eyes as the young girl entered the mansion and turned back to the water. He needed to think. He needed to relax. He needed to calm down.
"Ichabod!"
His heart lurched into his throat at hearing his name called. No, it was not called. It was sung. It was sung in that same sing-song voice belonging to his beloved. It must have been his mind playing tricks on him. Or the blasted house was driving him mad. He slowly turned his head to see the girl running towards him. But it was not just a girl. It was Katrina. His Katrina. The very Katrina Van Tassel he had fallen in love with in those dark and haunting Western Woods outside of Sleepy Hollow.
Ichabods legs barely worked as he jumped up from his seat in the grass, still amazed at the sight before him. He forgot everything he had been thinking about before, stumbling a few steps foreward, tripping on clumps of grass, but determined to reach the girl. He stopped about a yard from her, gasping for air, eyes wide and staring at the girl. He reached a hand towards her, whispering, "Katrina..". Without warning he grasped her in a close embrace, burying his face in her neck as tears slowly came to his eyes. "I thought I'd lost you...."
