Everyone piled out of the subway as quickly as possible when they reached their destination. It was super crowded and the 10 minute ride had gotten on all of their nerves. Even Catherine breathed a sigh of relief as she stepped out into the relatively empty street and waited for her group to gather. There weren't that many of them. Only 5 or 6 people were interested in this tour, which was pretty small when you think about it. Of all the students at NYU only Catherine, a few goth kids and a pre-med student were interested in visiting the morgue. Their reasons for taking the tour were vastly different though, and on the way over none of them had spoken to each other. This didn't bother Catherine though. She was in it for herself, to get the most out of her time here. With a beaming smile she planned to set forth ahead of her fellow students and counselor to greet the corpses head on.
Finally they walked inside. Her initial reaction was that she should have brought a sweater. She hadn't thought it would be cold in the building. But when she took the time to think about it, it only made sense. A shiver ran through her and she rubbed her arms as the counselor introduced everyone to the woman who would be leading the tour. After a few pleasantries he took a seat and let them go on their merry way. The guide( whose name was Mary, coincidentally) led them along, beginning with a story about the morgue's history. Catherine jotted down a few notes, but really wasn't interested in that type of thing at the moment. She wanted to learn the biology of it. The gory details. Her mind wandered as she glanced around the room and saw a young-ish, rather cute guy standing off to the side. Maybe he would know a little bit more of the interesting stuff... but then again, he might just be a tagalong to the tour. When she got a chance she'd try and find out. [/blockquote][/sup]

Damien watched as the students were led in. He was still kind of weary of to let anyone inside the morgue. This was his business and where he felt most at home. But yet there was a longing that he felt not to be alone and he watched as the one female continued to keep her eyes on him. He listened and waited to see what else she would do.
He stood there with his arms crossed in front of his chest as he waited and listened to Mary drone on for what seemed to be a while now on the history of the morgue. It bored him as he kept a careful eye on the other female he hoped she wouldn’t be nosey. Oh how he hated people who were nosey and didn’t keep to the schedule of things.
Damien didn’t need anyone to find out about his personal life even though he had wished to share it with another. One who would one day, be like a companion to him. Until that day he wouldn’t trust anyone in his home or life.

Even though Mary had moved on to something other than history, Catherine was still uninterested. Every now and then she glanced at the man she'd noticed before and only felt more intrigued by him. He almost definitely wasn't a student. And if he was then he was even more bored by the tour than she was. Some tour it was anyway... they were still standing in the same spot. With a glance around the room she took a hesitant step away from the group. No one seemed to notice. She slinked silently away, trying not to draw too much attention to herself. She'd never cut class or ignored a professor or done anything even slightly unruly. In the simplest terms, she was a model student, the kind any teacher would love to have. So walking away from the group felt like a really big deal to her. However, something was telling her she should, possibly some misplaced rebellion that she skipped in her younger days.
After a few sneaky steps and a little bit of heart-pounding(she really felt like she was being bad) Catherine finally came to be standing near the subject of her interest. Now that she had walked over though, she felt a little awkward. Unsure of what else to do she stuck her hand out in greeting. "Hi. I'm Catherine." She smiled warmly at him, satisfied with the tone of her voice. It wasn't at all nervous. [/blockquote][/sup]

Damien watched as the female approached him. He tried to smile as she had greeted him. He knew he had to be polite and he wasn’t trying to be rude at all in the least but something unnerved him a little bit. This girl didn’t seem scared in the slightest and that slightly bothered Damien. “Hello,” He forced a smile and unfolded his arms in front of his chest extending a hand out to greet her.
“I’m Damien Nathaniel. You said you’re name is Catherine right?” He asked as he watched her carefully wondering what had made her move from the rest of the group and towards him. “One shouldn’t be wandering the morgue without supervision, Catherine, even I should know that and I work here. This place doesn’t creep you out? Normally a girl like you would run from a place like this.” He said suddenly knowing that she didn’t look scared at all. “So what brings you here to the Morgue? Are you interested in being a mortician? No, you don’t look like the kind of girl that’s interested in all the gore or are you? I can never tell anymore. So, what really brings you here?”

Catherine nodded as she shook his hand. "Yes. Catherine." A smirk slid over her face as he spoke and she couldn't help but feel a little giggly. She glanced back at her group before replying. "Well I haven't exactly gone far. And no this place doesn't creep me out. Not really. I don't find death to be creepy you know? I mean, it's just the natural progression. We all do it." She rubbed her fingers together gave a small laugh. "I only wish I'd thought to bring a jacket or something.
His next questions made her pause for a moment, to really think about her answer. I came because I want to learn everything I can while I'm in school. I don't want to waste any time, you know? Plus I'm not exactly sure what career to pursue. Who knows, I may want to be a mortician. The only real way to know is to check it out. So here I am. Ready to learn about morgue life... or lack thereof." She grinned at her punny joke, but wasn't sure he'd find it amusing. He looked like the serious type. "Anyway... I was just wondering if maybe you could tell me about this stuff. Or possibly show me around? Not to be rude but... Mary's kind of..." Catherine trailed off... unsure of what to say. "Mary's kind of...she tends to be cheerful than most about her job. I, however, take myself more seriously." Damien tried to be polite as ever but it was kinda hard for him when this girl was cracking jokes about his work. " You want to see around the place? I can give you a guided tour but there's not much to see." He stated as he tried to smile but it was akward.
Damien then thought about what the girl said about it being cold inside of the morgue. Of course it was cold, he thought to himself. It wasn't supposed to be hot inside, but he kept his comments to himself. " I am sorry I can't offer you anything to keep you warm." He said still being quite akward and wishing that his boss hadn't let these college kids in here. Yes, he was lonely but he couldn't understand why his boss allowed students inside when he was supposed to be working not giving tours of the place.

Catherine couldn't help but notice that she'd bothered him and felt bad about it. "Taking your job seriously is an admirable quality. I mean, especially in this line of work. Your job actually affects people. It's kind of important really." As she spoke she realized the truth of her words. Before she hadn't really thought about it other than as an avenue of learning. But what they did here was... not exactly life or death... but it was closure for loved ones. A step in saying goodbye to the once living. She shook her head free of her thoughts, they would have to wait for later. "I'm ok with there not being much to see. Anything at all would be interesting to me." She spoke honestly, not wanting to offend him again.
When he apologized for her being cold Catherine smiled sheepishly at him. "No it's my own fault. If I'd thought practically about this trip it would have been obvious that I'd need a sweater or something. I mean, it only makes sense." She didn't want to be the kind of girl that made everything someone else's problem. So she resolved not to complain about the cold anymore, today. No matter how much it bugged her. Besides it wasn't really that bad anymore, she was getting used to it. [/blockquote][/sup] OOC Notes((Sorry about the mega wait. Recently got a job and it's been eating my muses. lol. Hope you like ^_^))
