Damien entered the coffee shop, finally glad for once to be out of the morgue. He loved his work but it had become tiredsome and he wanted to find friends without having to be stuck in the dreaded place all of the time. The nightlife for him seemed to be rather boring as of late with only corspes to keep him company. Yet his boss had found it within himself to let a bunch of college kids in his work area earlier that day and that had Damien uneasy for the rest of the day and evening as he had entered the coffee shop. His eyes scanned the coffee shop as his hands were stuck in his black jacket pockets. He fidgeted about in his pockets as he walked over to the counter.
Damien was hoping that he hadn't left his wallet at work that would have made it even more akward at a time like this. Normally he hadn't left any of his things behind, but those college kids had made him so nervewrecked that he hadn't checked for his wallet until now. " I know I have my wallet here somewhere." He stated as his eyes quickly scanned the resturant and fell upon a female in the corner. " Sir," The woman at the counter continued to get Damien's attention but he couldn't help but continue to ignore her. " I might have dropped it outside." He muttered to himself and then looked back at the woman who getting less and less patient with him. " Excuse me for a moment." Damien said as he walked towards the door near where the female was sitting.
((OOC: Got permission to God mode where Dahlia is sitting))

It was when he was approaching that Dahlia finally looked up. Not that she hadn't noticed his presence before; he was buzzing with death. But then again, a lot of people were- they were in forensics, or ex-soldiers... it happened every once in awhile. But something about him startled her as he came nearer.
When she looked up, her heavily-lidded eyes widened only slightly. A flash of headlights and the stench of blood flooded her mind and the room, and an unbearable pain in the back of her head and shoulder erupted. The man who was passing her wouldn't survive the night if she didn't step in.
She stood from her place, reaching out and catching his sleeve. She thought, annoyed, that her job would be much easier if she could speak. Dahlia prayed that he would understand, but as of now, the crisis had been averted- with the small delay she'd caused, he would miss that taxi.

Damien looked at the female as she touched his arm and he couldn't help but let out a little surprise gasp. His smile though that came next couldn't be helped. " Hello, I don't think we've met or have we? I don't usually know many people. " Placing himself in a seat next to her he continued to smile, hopefully she wouldn't get frightened of him. He usually had that effect on some people who didn't know him.
" So your name, Miss? Mine is Damien Nathaniel but most called me just Damien." He didn't know who this female was or why she had stopped him but he had this odd feeling that he knew her from somewhere. He had no clue as to why she had touched him so next came another question. " So, why did you just stop me from going outside?" He then looked over his shoulder at the woman behind the counter who was waiting impatiently for him to come back and order his coffee.

Dahlia scooted over to make room for him, a little nervously; she hadn't exactly wanted him to sit with her, and she had only been trying to help. But she would accept it. She looked from him to the table, blinking a moment, before she took out her notepad. After he introduced himself, she scribbled, My name is Dahlia. and then showed it to him. She wouldn't give out her last name, at least not just yet; though honestly, it didn't even cross her mind to add in her last name. She hardly used it anywhere else, so why would she introduce herself with it? When he asked why she'd stopped him, she paused a moment, pen poised over the notepad. She couldn't very well tell him that she had been trying to save his life, so after another brief pause, she wrote, Because I know where your wallet is.

Damien looked confused at Dahlia as she wrote her name down on the notepad. So she was a mute he thought to himself and smiled lightly at her. Then he watched her as she wrote something else down on the notepad and then looked thoughtfully at her. "You do? How do you know where my wallet is? I don't think you've been following me around or have you?" He asked a little more than shocked. Damien wanted to know how this woman Dahlia knew where his wallet was cause he himself had no idea. " So if you know where it is and I have no clue maybe you could tell me 'cause I certainly love to know where it is." He said as he placed his hands on the table almost slamming them down without thinking.
"I am sorry Dahlia, I got carried away. I have been having a hard time at work lately and my boss thought it would just be perfect if college kids came to my place of bussiness. I think it was a waste of my time this morning actually having a bunch of kids around my workplace." He then let out a sigh of aggiation as he looked at her.

Dahlia flinched when he slammed his hands down on the table. She hated loud, sudden noises, and this man was strange to her. She hunched over a little in her seat, her chin tucked into her turtle neck. Finally, she raised one spidery hand and pointed downward, toward his pants. Earlier, she'd noticed a bulge in his back pocket and figured that it had been his wallet. With one hand, she lifted her pen and wrote on the pad, I'm sorry. That was about all she had to say about the whole situation. And then she remembered the deaths that had been buzzing around the man when she first noticed him. He seemed willing to talk about it, so she wrote, Where do you work?

Damien reached into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet. " I feel like such a fool, now. I am so sorry to have reacted that way. I actually work as a mortician. I never had college kids come into my workplace and it's made me a little unnerved. I have never had many people to talk to besides my one friend Hector but I have always wanted more. My boss probably thought this was the best way but now I think he was foolish to have done so." He replied as he looked at Dahlia and then suddenly he looked back at the woman who was still waiting on him for his order.
" I would like to make up for scaring you like that. What would you like to drink? Coffee?" He asked as he smiled at her warmly and looked at his wallet hoping that he had enough to buy them both something to drink.

Dahlia nodded a little- a mortician... that would explain it. Always hanging around corpses, one would have the scent of death on them, naturally. She fiddled with her hair, doodling on her notepad as he talked a bit about his job. He certainly was willing to give her information... She brushed that thought off and then looked up. He'd asked her a question. "What would you like to drink? Coffee?"Dahlia looked back at her notepad again, which was bordered with her doodles of vines. Tea. She looked in the other direction then, her expression wistful, like her mind wasn't quite with him; like her mind had somewhere more important to be.

" Okay, tea it is then." Damien smiled as he walked back to the counter with his wallet still in his hand. His smile then faded as he looked at the woman behind the counter who looked slightly irriated with him. " Found your wallet?" The woman asked as Damien gave a short nod and smiled weakly. "Yes, I guess I didn't drop it after all. Sorry if I held anyone up." He said as he continued to smile just a little. " Don't worry you didn't. Now you gonna order or what?"
"Yes, I would like a tea and a coffee." He said as he opened his wallet sighing a breath of relief when he saw that there was enough money inside the wallet to pay for both drinks. Paying for both drinks he looked over towards Dahlia and then the woman at the counter whom gave him the drinks.

Dahlia looked back at her notepad, silently cursing herself. She had only meant to help the man; she didn't want any thanks, she didn't want a conversation... he had just been leaving, anyway. But he didn't seem interested in her, like most of the men who tried to float around her. He seemed genuinely friendly.
A friendly mortician- misunderstood, then, like her. A mother feared and shunned by her children, as opposed to loved- shunned by women especially, as her age and pathetic nature somehow didn't make their motherly instincts kick in. People were selfish, she knew... and she forgave them.
