Studying wasn't what she would've chose for herself on such a lovely afternoon. However, she knew it had to be done. Elizabeth Bennett walked through the various stacks and shelves looking for a relatively empty place to settle at. She had a lot of work and only a few hours to do it in meaning: she didn't want unnecessary distractions. Lizzie finally found a quiet spot with only a few people around her. Setting her bags down, Lizzie took a seat and began to work.
Lizzie finally looked up from her computer, noticing that she was alone. She had been at the library for two or three hours working on her term paper. Lizzie wasn't normally the type to work at the last minute, but with all her other classes and her job, she found herself pushing the deadline. Lizzie took a sip at her watch and glanced at the clock; she had been working pretty hard and decided to giver herself a break. Besides, she needed another book for her project.
Grabbing her water, Lizzie set of in the direction she thought her book would be in. After searching for a few minutes, she found the book she was looking for. There was just one problem: the book was on a shelf to high for her to reach. Lizzie tried jumping to reach it, but to no avail.
The current section she was in was emptier than a tomb. Lizzie continued to try and reach the book, hoping the a miracle would be performed and someone would come and help her.

Though he often did not show the full extent of his intellect in public, Victor was a very smart man. But he liked to improve his mind with extensive reading. One would have to be quite clever in order to evade the police for as long as he had, and with more than book smarts. He'd grown cleverer with age; more cunning, cold. The mistakes he made regarding emotions when he was younger had been promptly corrected after each incident.
In fact, he had observed that his work held something in each of the seven deadly sins- all, of course, except sloth. He feared being idle in his work, or idle in general really, and so despite the fact that his mother had been an atrocious woman in her way, it was apparent that her many failings did not include raising mentally deficient sons.
His act of the 'social butterfly' helped him climb the ladders of society- that was the only thing he had ever needed that particular talent for. Victor was actually- for obvious reasons- a very private man.
And so, as for the reasons bringing him to the library, a rough day with nothing to do had led him there. He was in the mood for chess, but damned if he could find anyone to play with him- what was he supposed to do, call Kitty?
He'd nested himself into a corner of one of the rooms in the library, blocked off from the others by a large stack of books, put there (evidently) for decoration. He could hear the quiet, constant tapping of a keyboard somewhere far-off in the room, and remembered observing a rather attractive young woman there when he'd entered. The noise set him on edge a bit, and he didn't notice his jaw clenching at first, nor the slight twitch in his hand; she wasn't doing anything wrong, it was just that damn incessant noise.
And then, finally, it stopped, and he could hear her quietly pulling out of her chair. Victor was gripped with an awkward and sudden curiosity as to where she was headed, and so he peered around the stack of books. His mouth lifted in a smile as he watched her struggle to reach the book.
Well, why not help her? he thought to himself, setting his book aside and standing. Victor strode over to her, his amused smile still intact, and reached over her head. "Here, lemme' help," he said gently, passing the book to her. To think that just mere hours before, this attractive and helpful man kicked a stray puppy to death; no one, not even Elizabeth Bennet, could have guessed that.

Lizzie stopped for a moment and peeked around the corner. There was still no one in site. She took a moment to consider her options: she could go to the desk for help, she could forget about it, or she could continue to jump for it. Lizzie knew she couldn't forget about it and she was a bit to lazy to go find someone to help her. Cursing herself for her laziness, Lizzie went back to jumping.
As luck would have it, someone appeared to help her. Lizzie smiled at him, "thank you, sir." she said with a smile. Perhaps he came by and thought she looked foolish with her jumping; that's probably what it was. Either way, she was glad that he came along. "I was hoping someone would come along to assist me." she informed him as she took the book.
"My name is Elizabeth, by the way." she introduced. She figured with what he had just done for her, the least she could was introduce herself.
