#01 – Ring Rolling over, Olivia rubbed the sleep from her eyes unsure if the ringing was in her head or the sound of her cell phone on the night stand.
#02 – Hero All father’s are like Superman until you turn sixteen.
#03 – Memory The dream she had last night she couldn’t remember; it was just series of flashes, more memories than dreams that always ended with a shrill, deafening scream.
#04 – Box Having left most of these boxes in a storage unit while she was undercover, Olivia spent at least forty-five minutes tearing tape and wiping off dust with a wet cloth before she found several plaques from her Academy days, some mismatched jewelry and a rather odd collection of teddy bears she had entirely forgotten existed.
#05 – Run Olivia slid on a pair of running shorts, a tank top, and laced up her Nikes making sure to stretch as she placed a headphone into each ear and headed out the door.
#06 – Hurricane “New England is famous for two things, corruption and hurricanes.”
#07 – Wings “He’s the guy that used to rip off butterflies’ wings when he was a kid,” Olivia retorted without looking up from her report.
#08 – Cold Pulling the zipper closer to her chin, Olivia couldn’t help but miss Decembers in California.
#09 – Red Blood dripped down her forearm and pooled into a small puddle at her feet.
#10 – Drink Leaning back in her chair, Olivia took another swig from the bottle, hoping this one would help her to forget.
#11 – Midnight Hunched over her desk she heard a faint knock on the door telling her it was time to punch out for the night.
#12 – Temptation James Moriarty was a temptation the Olivia could have done without.
#13 – View Her fingers gripped the railing of her apartment’s balcony; it was rare that she was home in time to watch the sunset.
#14 – Music Olivia could hear the stillness from the audience, the soft scraping of programs, the occasional cough, even the tapping of fingers on the wooden armrests but, as the piece began to shift in mezzo forte (moderately loud) she barely recalled the movement of her fingers; it was a blur, muscle memory taking over as she kept her eyes closed and her head swayed slightly left then right as she moved up and down the keyboard.
#15 – Silk Olivia used to wear silk nightgowns but, nowadays it was cotton shorts and t-shirts.
#16 – Cover “I spent ten months undercover in with that drug ring, come on Michaels, you know I can handle this.”
#17 – Promise All promises are not forever, especially when it comes to marriage vows.
#18 – Dream Her eyes glanced down at her shoes and back to her therapist, “My aspirations have always involved police work, for me, there’s nothing else.”
#19 – Candle She leaned into the bath, pulling the bookmark from her novel and inhaling the scent of burning candles.
#20 – Talent Olivia had an absolute talent for getting herself into these precarious situations.
#21 - Silence The best part about being single: silence and not fighting over the bedcovers. #22 – Journey “Is this one of those sentimental moments where you compare my life to a journey and attempt to bond with me?” Olivia glared back at her therapist.
#23 – Fire “What can I say? I’m always packing heat.”
#24 - Strength “It’s just something my dad used to say: strength isn’t in the blocks you can move but, the blocks you can sustain.”
#25 – Mask We all wear masks, Olivia thought unwilling to speak the words out loud, some of ours are shielding others from us while others shield us from others.
#26 – Ice She could smell the scotch, hear the ice cubes gently clink against the glass, and immediately wished she was any where but here.
#27 – Fall “I am never going to fall for that again.” Olivia’s eyes met the therapists’ and for the first time in a long time she felt stronger for saying it.
#28 – Forgotten Unfortunately this was one of those instances that would never be forgotten; there just wasn’t enough therapy or alcohol to wipe it away.
#29 - Dance “You know I can’t stand dressage; there’s something unnatural about making a horse dance.”
#30 - Body “Well, she made me an offer I couldn’t refuse; a six-foot three offer with abs, a dashing smile, and dare I say... charm?
#31 – Sacred “Is there absolutely nothing sacred in this world anymore?” Olivia groaned.
#32 – Farewells “Our divorce was more like a volcanic explosion in the middle of the artic than a peaceful farewell.”
#33 – World “There are starving emaciated orphan babies out there,” Olivia pressed, “with AIDS!”
#34 – Formal “The next time I put on a wedding dress you can be sure it’s the sign of the coming apocalypse.”
#35 – Fever There was a moment where Olivia was completely disconnected from the conversation; it was somewhere after the nurse mentioned the victim had a fever and Olivia pictured everyone breaking out into a perfectly choreographed dance number to the sounds of Frank Sinatra.
#36 – Laugh Suppressing a laugh, Olivia cuffed the perp up against the wall.
#37 – Lies “Don’t lie to me Adam; at least have the decency to be honest with me for once in your life.”
#38 – Forever Diamonds are forever but, love isn’t.
#39 – Overwhelmed Olivia would never admit to how overwhelmed she felt these days and with that bottle of Jack tucked beneath her desk she’d never have to.
#40 – Whisper The words were caught in her throat and the stern retort that was supposed to come out was replaced by a croaking whisper.
#41 – Wait Olivia was always up before the sun, and today was no different. 6:00 a.m. sharp the alarm sounded and her hand was already waiting to pounce down on the button.
#42 – Talk “A little less talk, a little more action, eh Detective?” Athos nudged her colleague away from a pretty blonde and into the direction of shoplifting teenager.
#43 – Search “You’re a detective, detect!” Olivia snapped at Nick.
#44 – Hope “All we have is hope these days,” Olivia sighed.
#45 – Eclipse “Does this look like some crack-pot Stephanie Meyer novel?”
#46 – Gravity “Gravity always seems to have it out for me,” Olivia pushed herself off the pavement after diving onto a suspect.
#47 – Highway Revving the engine into fourth gear, Olivia tore down the highway in pursuit of a black Mercedes Benz.
#48 – Unknown “That’s the thing about the unknown; you don’t know what the hell it is, so you can’t spend all your time worrying about something that you don’t know about.” Her therapist just made a note on the page without looking up.
#49 – Lock Something about the term lock and load always made Olivia a little queasy, in all her experience, it never seemed that easy.
#50 – Breathe “I don’t breathe,” Olivia stared, “I’m a cop, I am like physically unable to.”

#01 - Comfort Mark's comfort, though small, meant more to Roger than anything the man had ever done before that moment.
#02 - Kiss It had been seven months since anyone had kissed him, and in a second, he felt like turning and running.
#03 - Soft "Boobies are soft," Roger told Maureen with a nod as he watched her pull her shirt down, "unless they're fake, and I'm on fake boobie watch!"
#04 - Pain They hit one another, ripped and tore and scratched at each other's bodies to prove to each other that they were still real and that this, this pathetic and disgusting existence, was real life; that itself was the most painful thing they had ever done.
#05 - Potatoes "Do potatoes like, reproduce?" Roger asked, looking over at Maureen. "I think we had a potato orgy and now there's baby potatoes all over the kitchen. We have children, baby!"
#06 - Rain He stood out in the rain in the middle of the cemetery in the freezing cold and he hoped that he got sick and died because it would be better than living in this hell.
#07 - Chocolate The chocolate spread out on her neck made his mouth water, but the fact that she was moving it lower made his jaw drop.
#08 - Happiness "John Lennon said that Happiness was a warm gun," Roger quipped as he flipped a page in the Village Voice, "but I doubt he was happy-go-lucky when he got shot."
#09 - Telephone "You know what? I'm going to call your sister," Roger said drunkenly, "and I'm going to call her and confess my love for her and then we're going to have phone sex and I don't care if she can't see my dick, she's gonna love that shit and fuck me 'til I can't see straight."
#10 - Ears "Look! Look, she has pointy ears! She's really is a fairy!" Roger said, watching as the drag queen smiled and lightly smacked him on the cheek.
#11 - Name He never knew how completely sexy his own name could sound until she purred it into his ear.
#12 - Sensual "Even her name is sensual," Roger told Mark, "I mean, Mimi Marquez. That sounds like some sort of Telemundo Spanish soap opera and I'm digging that shit."
#13 - Death Even in death, she looked beautiful; she was covered in blood and her lips were blue but she was beautiful and hated her more than ever for that simple fact.
#14 - Sex "Any harder and I'll have the dimple pattern on my ass, but god, do it harder; fuck the dimple patterns," Roger heard her groan and he realised that this wasn't making love, this was raw and dirty sex, marked by the pounding of her back against the bathroom stall.
#15 - Touch Her touch was beginning, pleading with him to stay and he pulled away, but he knew he'd always remember that touch; it said, 'Goodbye, love'.
#16 - Weakness His weakness wasn't drugs or alcohol or cigarettes, it was her hands, her mouth; it was the way she said his name in the soft whisper that could make him melt.
#17 - Tears He had shed so many tears he wasn't sure he could shed anymore; he felt like a dried up empty shell.
#18 - Speed Mimi's hips moved against Roger's with a speed that made him wonder if this was just a race that she was determined to win; what she didn't realise was that he'd let her win every time.
#19 - Wind The wind blew through his hair and he had remembered telling Mimi that he'd teach her how to drive one day, but that day would probably never come.
#20 - Freedom Freedom, she had once told him, isn't being able to walk outside every day, it's being able to take a breath. As long as they could breathe together, they'd both be totally free.
#21 - Life "Life, the man said, looking directly at Roger, was not simply breathing or waking up, it was the fact that you could experience something beautiful every second of every day.
#22 - Jealousy Jealousy made his blood boil, his mind rush and made him realise that he had never truly loved anyone with such passion until Mimi.
#23 - Hands He didn't even know her, but as her hands slid into his back pockets to grab the heroin, Roger found himself wondering what else she could do with her hands.
#24 - Taste He licked his lips and smiled, still tasting the sticky saltiness still on his lips from the night before and he wondered if her pelvis had really broken his nose.
#25 - Devotion She was his bible; he got down on his knees and prayed with a holy tongue, giving heavy and severe devotion and in the end, she always ended up praising God.
#26 - Forever He remembered once saying that living to 85 was like living forever, but forever was a forbidden word now.
#27 - Blood "I gotta put it back," Roger said as he clawed at the dirty Loft floor, and as he smeared his own blood and dirt back onto his gouged wrists, he sobbed, "it's the only thing I have left of her."
#28 - Sickness It was a sickness that he had never felt; his insides were going to tear themselves apart and he realised quickly that this is what dying must feel like.
#29 - Melody April had a melody; her hips set the rhythm and her moans made the chords. She was her own symphony that Roger would never get tired of listening to.
#30 - Star "She was like a shooting star," Roger told Mimi honestly. "and I should have realised that no matter how much you want to catch it, they always burn out in the end."
#31 - Home Home was the dirty floors and cold tiles and harsh smell of burning posters and screenplays; it was a poor existence, but it was home.
#32 - Confusion "Wait, I thought you were Jewish?" Roger asked as he watched Mark hold the hot dog over the fire he had made in the barrel, "There's a Jew hell waiting for you."
#33 - Fear Fear caught a hold of him, slamming his heart into his throat and he wondered if all of Manhattan could hear it thump.
#34 - Lightning/Thunder Sometimes, he stood out on the fire escape, eyes closed and head tilted back, hoping that lightning would strike some feeling back into his heart.
#35 - Bonds "Now what're you gonna do?" Roger asked, tugging at the bonds against his wrist, but knew the exact answer before she could even say it; she was going to fuck him senseless.
#36 - Market The Market down on the corner was easy to steal with; it always helped when you used to sleep with the owner's daughter.
#37 - Technology "Maureen knows technology," Roger protested with a frown, "she's got more electronics in her sock drawer than radioshack; if radio shack sold dildoes."
#38 - Gift The gift was perfect, a ring and a wedding proposal, but the time would never be right.
#39 - Smile Her smile was the first thing he saw and the thing he'd always remember.
#40 - Innocence "Innocence? Please." Roger said with a roll of his eyes, "That girl could suck the chrome off of the Chrysler Building."
#41 - Completion She could bring him to completion or hold him in a state of torture; she loved torture more.
#42 - Clouds "You say that one looks like a vagina?" Roger asked, and pointed. "That one looks like a penis. If it rains, does that mean someone came?"
#43 - Sky He looked up at the lit sky and hated the fact that New York never saw a star.
#44 - Heaven "Heaven isn't a place," he heard her say, "it's the way you sing."
#45 - Hell Hell, he told Mark, wasn't a fiery pit in the bottom of wherever, it was the bathroom and the smell of blood.
#46 - Sun "Turn down the sun!" Roger screamed and wondered if the sun was God's punishment to drunks.
#47 - Moon "I'm the moon and you're the earth; without the moon, you'd be a giant hunk of mass floating out in space, spinning wildly. I ground you. And without the earth, the Moon would have no purpose at all. A dark, empty, useless thing."
#48 - Waves Her body was an ocean and in the end, he'd be willing to drown in her waves.
#49 - Hair Her hair was smooth as it fell in his face and he realised that it was the sexiest thing he had ever felt.
#50 - Supernova He knew it was cliche to say that when he came he saw supernova's and explosions in front of his eyes, but he didn't just see them, he felt them inside of her, clenching and shaking against him and that's when he knew that it wasn't just sex; this was love.

#01 - Ring It wasn't the noise of the people, not really, but the constant ringing in his ears, all the time.
#02 - Hero Dolores had picked out some strange, obscure superhero movie for them to watch, despite her previous insistence that she hated all superhero movies.
#03 - Memory The memory was rough - something about guns and geese for sure - but Lestrade still could't fully recall what had happened that day.
#04 - Box Lestrade leaned over to pet the small animal once, before walking away from the box.
#05 - Run "Just run, whatever you do, run!" he'd yelled.
#06 - Hurricane Dolores came home with a book on hurricane's in her hand, which she insisted that her poppa read to her not once, but six times in a row.
#07 - Wings The angel was old, its wings long broken and halo snapped in half, but it was still a nice tree decoration.
#08 - Cold Lestrade wasn't sure how much longer he could stand New York, because the cold was nearly unbearable!
#09 - Red "My ruby," the mistress described," is about 2 pounds, blood red, and very beautiful."
#10 - Drink And god, the plane was taking off now and he could hardly breathe and what - was the flight attendant really asking him if he wanted a drink?
#11 - Midnight The man had, funnily enough, sent a calling card, telling them that would be stealing said crown precisely at midnight.
#12 - Temptation The temptation to have another was great, but - no, Lena would kill him.
#13 - View As soon as the house came into view, Elliot began to woop loudly, making Lestrade want to punch him.
#14 - Music "The most musical talent I can claim to is the clarinet," he huffed, amused.
#15 - Silk It was silk, striped, and for a moment he wasn't sure if he'd be able to push down the lump in his throat.
#16 - Cover "Come, now, surely you've gone under cover for more than an hour before?" Lestrade asked, raising an eyebrow.
#17 - Promise But he'd promised Elliot that this would not happen again, and yet...It had.
#18 - Dream The dreams were the worst; he began to fear sleep, to a point, in order to avoid the hateful images that continuously clawed their way into his mind.
#19 - Candle Lit with candles, the room seemed bigger, somehow, and cozier.
#20 - Talent Mary had always told him that he wasn't at all talented.
#21 - Silence The noise had been frustrating, but the silence... The silence was worse!
#22 - Journey "Good luck on your... journey, mate," his brother had said, cuffing him in the side of the head.
#23 - Fire "The building's one fire, you idiot, don't touch it!" Mike roared at him.
#24 - Strength He'd never prayed for "God" to come and send him strength, or hope, or to be saved before.
#25 - Mask It wasn't a mask, like some might put it, but a habit.
#26 - Ice Of course, the road had been icy and Lestrade had been careless.
#27 - Fall "Fall is the season where the leaves come down," Dolores had informed him, as if it were the most important detail in the world.
#28 - Forgotten He'd forgotten what being warm felt like.
#29 - Dance When he was thirteen, Lestrade's friend Liz had tried to kiss him at the dance.
#30 - Body The body was lying in a pit, bruised and bloated with the ever-falling rain.
#31 - Sacred It was supposed to be a sacred artifact, yes, but at this point, Lestrade didn't really care.
#32 - Farewells The farewells were brief and awkward.
#33 - World "It does't really matter," he sighed, "My dying will not stop the world from turning, you know."
#34 - Formal Lestrade didn't mind dressing formal - he had to, given his job - but those habits had obviously put a dent in his personality, which was why he [always/i] dressed formally.
#35 - Fever The fever was the worst part - he hated the not being able to get warm and then the hotness, and the prickling of skin; it was all just horrible!
#36 - Laugh He laughed, "No, you're not like anyone."
#37 - Lies "Don't you remember that poem we read? Lies will kill you, so don't make them!"
#38 - Forever The song seemed like it would be forever on repeat, each note and tone and word all so crystal clear in his head that he felt like he was going crazy!
#39 - Overwhelmed Overwhelmed by the sudden announcement, his family had then jumped into frantic questions of why, when, and how.
#40 - Whisper "Don't move a muscle," he man had whispered - rather, hissed - at him.
#41 - Wait "Just wait a moment!" he'd snarled, and before he knew it he'd slapped her without meaning to.
#42 - Talk "Don't tell me, just... talk," Lestrade said comfortingly.
#43 - Search The search was long, and despite it previously being a very nice day indeed, it began to rain.
#44 - Hope Hope was like poison - it killed slowly, mercilessly.
#45 - Eclipse Lestrade flipped between channels, a jumble of "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me," "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and "Life is a Highway," in his head.
#46 - Gravity "Gravity," he explained, "Is this invisible thing that keeps us from floating up into the air, you see?"
#47 - Highway Lestrade could have hit someone; the one day he decided to take the highway, because he needed to hurry, and there was a traffic jam? Really?
#48 - Unknown "30-40 year old Caucasian man, identity unknown," Anderson began to explain to him the details of the case.
#49 - Lock Lestrade fumbled to shove the key into the lock and hurried into the room.
#50 - Breathe "Just breathe, slowly, that's good, keep going," an encouraging and all-too-calm voice was telling him now.

#01 - Telephone Mycroft stared down at the device in his hand; he really wished this was one of those times technology was wrong.
#02 - Bittersweet He grabbed the belt loops of his pants and tugged on them back to their proper place on his hips, only to fall back down an inch or two.
#03 - Test The man was the epitome of human scum and looked the part, too; Mycroft wasn't happy with the fact that his boss decided to test his morals and values with someone so revolting.
#04 - Sour The corner of his upper lip rose slightly, his nostrils flared, and his brows furrowed together, the visual display of disgust plain on his face.
#05 - Regret It shone brightly, catching the light in the right way to refract a small array of colors on to the table; he frowned and dropped it in to the trash can, quickly creating distance between himself and the now forgotten object.
#06 - Smile Mycroft suddenly couldn't hold it back anymore, letting out his loud laugh and clapping his hands in front of him like some retarded seal.
#07 - Inspire/Inspiration He always inspired to be the best, to have the right kinds of power to get exactly what he wanted in life.
#08 - Down As a kid, he remembered walking slowly down the stairs with his baseball bat in his tiny hands, set out in figuring exactly what was in his house that that time of night.
#09 - Moment The kiss was easy, swift and quick, and in an instant, in that one moment, it was over and Mycroft was walking away with his fists shoved in his pockets.
#10 - Accent "That accent; are you from England?" had to be the second most stupid questions he was asked, only falling behind the ever constant, "Are you Sherlock Holmes' brother?"
#11 - Yellow Colors weren't looked brightly upon at the office, but Mycroft didn't care and proudly walked through the office wearing the vibrant, yellow tie given to him by a child he met earlier that week.
#12 - Lollipop It was something he gave himself on those rare occasions when he decided that maybe, just maybe, he needed an extra boost of cherry-flavored sugar.
#13 - Joy "I have never felt any amount of long-lasting joy in my entire life."
#14 - Unexpected Nothing surprised Mycroft; nothing was unexpected because he always watched out for the least likely outcome.
#15 - Thunder He cursed under his breath at his childish nature of flinching when there was a loud crack of sudden thunder outside of his window.
#16 - Razor "Chester, where are you; I might have fallen asleep shaving..."
#17 - Sunday "No, I will not be staying over today on the grounds that I don't feel like it."
#18 - Explode And before he knew it, he reared his fist back and struck the man square between his eyes.
#19 - Escalate He rolled around in his bed until he successfully constructed a shield around himself with his sheets, groaning loudly and pressing his face against the pillow and cursing the fact that he allowed himself to get this sick this fast.
#20 - Clouds "I don't see how you find those shapes in the clouds, Chester."
#21 - Invisible Mycroft stood on his balcony, sucking on his cigarette and holding the smoke in his lungs before releasing it and watching it disappear in to the early New York morning.
#22 - Surgery Surgery was out of the question; he hated hospitals and the fact that doctors only ran when something was wrong.
#23 - Water Mycroft dipped his hands in to the bowl of water, returning them to the ball of clay on his potter's wheel where they slid and manipulated the substance with ease.
#24 - Blue He blinked and rubbed his eyes with the heels of his hands, sighing softly.
#25 - Papercut Blood bothered him, but he couldn't let himself be bothered at the small prick of red liquid sitting on the tip of his finger.
#26 - Courage Mycroft stood from his table in the court room, grabbing his papers and walking out during the hearing.
#27 - Time "I do nawt have the time to sit here and listen to your idiotic babbling, Mr. Jones."
#28 - Fury "Get the fuck out of my office and if I even hear your name again, you will never survive in the working world again."
#29 - Video She looked extremely amused as she spoke, telling him of the video they have that caught him sleeping at his desk, his hand still holding his pen in the upright position.
#30 - Forgiveness "I forgive you, but that doesn't mean you're off the hook."
#31 - Death He stared down at the dead body that washed up on the shore, pale and water logged, and he sighed, pulling his phone out to call Sherlock.
#32 - Redemption It was the first day in a long time he woke up with a smile on his face.
#33 - Major The car wreck flashed back in his mind, making him visibly wince and make a small sound in the back of his throat.
#34 - Minor "Tell me again how you lost in housing court, and I'll consider keeping you."
#35 - Illustrate All of the protraits were drawn by children, a glimpse of what they really see.
#36 - Touch Mycroft grabbed the woman's shoulder gently, the simplest of touches calming her down considerably.
#37 - Mistake #38 - Balloon The small child struggled, but successfully tied the string in a bow around Mycroft's wrist, the balloon floating above both of their heads.
#39 - Chocolate "That's disgusting!"
#40 - Addiction The liquid was amber in the small glass, taunting him over and over again.
#41 - Fear "I don't have a problem; I'm not sick, god damnit!"
#42 - Reflection Mycroft rubbed his thumb over his lower lip, wincing when it dragged over the split.
#43 - Jazz Louis Armstrong emitted from the speakers, filling his flat with his calming, rusk voice.
#44 - Bones "Sherlock, you need to boil those fingers if you want to strip the skin off of them; I suggest the tea kettle."
#45 - Heist Mycroft lit up a cigarette and crossed his arms over his chest, wondering why he let James talk him in to this.
#46 - Hide Hiding wasn't in his vocabulary.
#47 - Scent Cinnamon always reminded him of Christmas; he didn't celebrate, but it didn't stop him from thinking about it.
#48 - Fruit punch James had been in his flat again; the fruit punch was moved three inches inside the fridge.
#49 - Reflection "Take a look in the mirror before you start accusing me of being a monster."
#50 - Drugged The medicine circulating through his system made him a bit loopy and happy, but it also gave him the strong urge to lean over his balcony and see if he could fly.

Post by DETECTIVE PETER ARAMIS on Apr 7, 2012 3:05:51 GMT -5
#01 – Telephone Rumors were ugly things. By the time you’d heard it, it was so distorted from the truth that the truth didn’t even know it was still being talked about.
#02 – Bittersweet “My parents aren’t here," he told Julie evenly. Don waved from the crowd and Peter mustered up a smile. It was graduation, after all.
#03 – Test Peter groaned, head pressed to the porcelain of the off-white commode. Right now, he’d rather be dead than sitting there, sweating and shaking. He knew he’d done this to himself, popping those pills, pretending he wasn’t hooked. This was the price of getting clean. God was a sadistic SOB.
#04 – Sour “You know, Gerry, if you keep making that face, it’ll get stuck that way.” Twenty-four years old and he was quoting his mother...
#05 – Regret Angelique’s profile page showed a picture of her nestled between Mom and Dad, smiling. Peter swallowed tightly and closed the laptop, roughly running his fingers up and down Baze’s side.
#06 – Smile Smile number three – the “I just got laid” look. Good for avoiding all questions about why his hands were shaking.
#07 - Inspire/Inspiration The ball bounced between his fingers, back and forth, back and forth. Jamal’s eyes followed it like a pendulum, nodding along to every word spilling from Peter’s lips. #08 – Down "You know, this reminds me of that song by Blood, Sweat and Tears. I'm sure you know it...What goes up must come down. Spinnin’ wheel keeps goin’ around...” Really, what were they teaching kids these days?
#09 – Moment Peter swallowed, unsure of where his tongue had disappeared to in front of this group of people. This was his moment in the spot light and all he could do was convert oxygen into huffs of carbon dioxide.
#10 – Accent No one took you seriously when you spoke like some western movie star – somewhere between John and Patrick Wayne. Perps laughed until they pissed themselves, and the girl across the hall thought it was “cute.”
#11 – Yellow “No – I said y’ello, not yellow...Hey, calm down, I always answer my phone that way,” Peter sighed. Homicide had no sense of humor.
#12 – Lollipop He pulled the lollipop out of his pocket, waving it back and forth for the little girl. Her chubby hands snapped it up, shy smile causing Peter to beam. Kids were easy. If only he could nab dates that way.
#13 – Joy Long, pink, wet tongue. Jumping, jingling tags, paws climbing up to rest on shoulders. This was the joy a dog showed when you walked in the door.
#14 – Unexpected He still looked around corners when he was in the building late at night. He had yet to forget Irene. Always expect the unexpected.
#15 – Thunder The lightning caused the room to glow, but it was the thunder that sent a tremble through him. It wasn’t fear, it was anxiety – the same nervous energy the storm seemed to have. #16 – Razor He scratched at the stubble on his chin, frowning. He needed to add razors to his shopping list. He needed to actually find time to go shopping... #17 – Sunday Tomorrow morning was going to suck. Mondays always did.
#18 – Explode His stomach was in knots, his blood was boiling. He was going to explode if he didn’t yell. Instead, he swallowed it back, just like he always did.
#19 – Escalate One kiss and he was already diving in for another. This couldn’t end well.
#20 – Clouds The room was painted with white, fluffy clouds on blue. What else did he expect from an office that catered to children...
#21 – Invisible He was invisible. She wouldn’t look at him, she wouldn’t acknowledge him. He was going crazy. That's why he had to go.
#22 – Surgery The scars were still vivid. He didn’t hide them, but he didn’t show them off, either. It was how he approached everything in life – not hiding from it, but not showing off, either.
#23 – Water He nearly drowned once. Out of all the ways to die, it was his least favorite. Their corpse would probably agree.
#24 - Blue When you wore the badge, you lived blue, bled blue, and died blue. He was looking to put off the last part for as indefinite a time as he could.
#25 – Paper cut He doubted even being shot could measure up to the pain of a paper cut. And now he'd probably just invited himself to get shot.
#26 – Courage Courage was having the urge to piss yourself and still standing your ground. Who knew a pregnancy test could be so threatening.
#27 – Time The clock on the wall was ticking obnoxiously loud. He pulled his socks off, balling them together and throwing them at the clock. It didn’t stop the ticking, but it made him feel better.
#28 – Fury He didn’t know who was mad at anymore. All he knew was that he needed a cup of coffee before the thumping in his head killed him. And heaven help the damn barista if they put crème in his coffee again...
#29 – Video The video startled a chuckle out of him. His sister really needed to stop getting drunk around camera phones.
#30 – Forgiveness All he could ask for was that someday God and his mother would forgive him for being what he was. God would give in before his mother, he was sure.
#31 – Death Sitting there, the furry body cooling against his thighs...He couldn’t look. If he looked, it would all be real.
#32 – Redemption “You did good, kid. Now people might forget about that pen incident...”
#33 – Major “This is huge.” Peter couldn’t wrap his head around it. “We need to do something...Gerry, you don’t become a dad every day of the week...does this mean I'm an uncle?”
#34 – Minor “Its nothing really. I can patch it up at home. It’s already stopped bleeding, I promise.” Another lie, but god he hoped it was a good one.
#35 – Illustrate "Jane, if a picture is worth a thousand words, my attempt at painting this picture only needed three – piece of shit."
#36 – Touch He leant into the touch, out of character in his silent demand for affection. He really had too much to drink. Damnit, Perry...
#37 – Mistake “You have one pen explode at one crime scene...”
#38 – Balloon Bright, red and shiny. If he didn’t think the couple at the next table would mind, he would have thrown his fork through it.
#39 – Chocolate There was a bow around the candy bar. It was a terrible apology, but he was hungry.
#40 – Addiction T3s, Oxy...anything to kill the pain that just wasn’t there anymore.
#41 – Fear He swallowed nervously, the breath coming from him in pants. The three little words Peter vowed to never say again had tumbled from his lips, and he had never been more terrified in his life.
#42 – Reflection He didn’t know the man in the mirror. After sleeping at his desk for three days, he doubted the man would admit to knowing him, either.
#43 – Jazz “You know – blood work, fingerprinting, all that jazz,” Peter spoke into the phone tucked against his shoulder, as he paged through the stack of files on his desk.
#44 - Bones “The shin bone is connected to the knee bone. The knee bone is connected to the thigh bone. The thigh bone is connected to the hip bone and...I have no idea which bone connects to that bone...” He continued scrubbing, humming the tune. He would have to look up the words at some point.
#45 – Heist “Alright, let’s go over it again – I *insert your name here* will NEVER again plan to rob a convenience store.” He sighed, rubbing at his forehead, wondering when his kids had gotten dumb enough to pull that in his neighborhood. “You will all keep that oath or I will not be so lenient – next time, I call your mothers.”
#46 – Hide The couch cushions above him and the blankets below him made him feel like a little kid again. The fort was a great place to hide; being twenty-four didn’t make that any less so.
#47 – Scent The brunt smell had permeated everything. He had to start paying better attention to what he was cooking...
#48 - Fruit punch What? Juice boxes weren’t specifically for children...Ages three and up was written right on the packaging. Where was Jane when he needed someone with imagination?
#49 – Rejection He had been watching the man for a month, and the god amongst men didn’t even know he was alive. Next time he decided to stalk someone, he was going to be more obvious about it.
#50 – Drugged He could feel his bones start to tremble, knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that the doc had given him something for the pain. It was about to get worse before it got better.
