Hi, my name is Anicat and this is my First character. I found this site through an advertisement. Something you should know about me is I am Mexican and have been studying English for ten years now.
Elizabeth Bennet
Middle Class
Middle Class
Canon: Pride and Prejudice
Custom Title: Neither duty, nor honour, nor gratitude
PHYSICAL
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Appearance: Elizabeth usually wears comfortable, but nice clothes. Depending on her mood, the colors might vary, but she usually picks up soft shades of blue, green and yellow, or more neutral colors -like black and white. She usually throws on pants or jeans, often with sandals or medium heels. She's not too interested in standing out because of how she looks, so she's not too picky about clothes, which doesn't necessarily mean she will just pick up whatever she finds in her closet. She does make sure that she's not wearing anything too old and that her clothes are well ironed and clean. She will very rarely wear a dress, unless it is a formal occassion we're talking about -something like a wedding, for example. Moving on, Elizabeth has dark brown hair that sometimes appears black. It's straight and sometimes quite messy, and while she tends to keep it loose, she will pull it up into a ponytail or bun if necessary. She never wears any type of hair dye or hairspray, she prefers to keep her hair as natural as possible. She has bright blue eyes and a smile that have been described as sincere, and anyone could agree. Other than this, Elizabeth won't really stand out much in a crowd. No matter how tall she tries to stand, she's still pretty average in height, though she disimulates this by trying to stand as straight and tall as possible. She does this not to show pride, but self-confidence.
Height: 5'9"
Weight/Body Type: Elizabeth has a fairly slim build. She has never been too athletic or anything similar. She can sometimes appear to be skinny -especially when wearing spaghetti straps or strapless blouses, which is why she avoids them- but really, she has never had any trouble with her weight , or her figure before. She has never been obsessive about it, and will probably never be, since she finds it to be quite pointless.[/ul]
Play By: Jessica Stroup.
PERSONALITY
General personality: On a normal basis, Elizabeth is a very kind young woman. She has a very calm and pleasant demeanor, and she tries to talk as politely as possible, to everyone, no matter who it is. She follows the 'golden rule' and treats everyone with kindness and respect. At home she will speak with a respectful tone to her parents and will calmly try to get her younger sisters to behave, and she generally succeeds. Also, she is cheerful. She herself has claimed that she 'loves to laugh' and will never pass up any moment to have a laugh with her sisters, or with her friends. She also loves meeting new people and greets everyone with a kind word and a smile; and she knows how to make a conversation pleasant.
Her politeness shows all the time, even when she's arguing. Elizabeth is a very intelligent young woman, capable of using sarcasm and arguing in a calm manner, and in a very rational, mature way. She'll really never get into any childish or imature arguments, and should she be involved in one, she'll back away from it with a smile and an apology. She rarely ever loses her temper, and when she does, she can be pretty harsh. She rarely lets her 'rash' side show, unless she is very deeply offended, and it takes a lot to offend her.
On the other hand, Elizabeth is a very intelligent, quick-minded woman. Bookish from a young age, Elizabeth is wise beyond her years and observant. When it comes to people, she is quick to judge the social behavior and intentions of others, and is pretty good at telling if someone is lying or telling the truth. However, a flaw she committs often is to judge people on first impressions, and to be a little selective of the evidence upon which she bases her judgments. She can take judgement pretty seriously, and even though she's not overly sensitive over being criticized, it certainly means a blow to her pride; even though she doesn't really show it. Not one to let her opinions go unheard, she usually states what she thinks, and she usually does it with a smile on her face.

History:
John Bennet came from England to meet with a few distant relatives. During his stay in NYC, he met a young woman of his age named Ellen; who had quit college to help her mother financially, and befriended her. He found her to be a very comical young woman, despite being narrow-minded and gossippy. On the other hand, Ellen found John to be very kind and a gentleman. Love blossomed between the two, and the next year, they were happily married and living in NYC. The next year, they had their first daughter, Jane. Two years later, their second daughter was born. Elizabeth came to the world one windy morning. Being so close to each other in age, Jane and "Lizzie" as she was often called by her parents, were extremely close to each other. Both girls shared everything and spent long hours playing tag or dancing under the rain. When they weren't doing any of that, Lizzie would usually pick up whatever book drew her attention and devour it's content. Jane took to calling her a 'little bookworm' because of that; even though she could be bookish as well, at times. The close relationship the sisters had wasn't affected in the slightest by the fact that their mother tended to favor Jane over Lizzie; and that Lizzie became their father's favorite.
Six years later, the third child of the family, Mary, was born. Mary was much more detached from her sisters, and was usually lost deep in thought, or absorbed by her love for classical music, especially the piano. Whenever she wasn't trying to learn how to play it, Mary would tag along with Jane and Lizzie to run about the city to meet new people or just play around. Two years later, Catherine, or Kitty as everyone called her, was born, and Lydia came one year after her, thus completing the Bennet family. Kitty and Lydia were just as close as Jane and Lizzie were, if only a bit more reckless and nosy than the kind, but shy Jane, and the calm-mannered Elizabeth. Nevertheless, the five sisters had a close bond and were rarely ever separated.
The family lived in a small, but comfortable house and had a fairly average life. Nothing was too remarkable in Elizabeth's life as she grew up, with the exception, maybe, that she was her father's favorite throughout her entire life. He stated that Elizabeth had something her sisters lacked, while she was the least dear to her mother. Proving herself to be easily the most quick-minded of her sisters, Elizabeth was always a very sociable young lady, though not as much of a socialite as Lydia was, even at her young age. Lizzie was often, along with Jane and their father, making sure that Kitty and Lydia didn't cause much mess around the house (or around everywhere they were, really).
When they weren't doing that, the five girls were usually studying and learning. Money wasn't much of an issue for the family, but sending the five girls to school would definitely be rather pricey. John Bennet had decided that he wanted his children to be homeschooled for a while, and thus he took to the task of teaching them everything he knew, with the help of tutors. When the time came to enter high school, Elizabeth decided to take a correspondence course rather than her father's instruction to give him a break. The course was completed successfully, and Elizabeth gained a place in Yale, where she excelled in her studies. She couldn't finish college, though. She decided to go back home and find a job to help her family out; since money was starting to become an issue. She soon found herself a new job in a library, which she quite enjoys, but is also looking for more options to make as much money as possible.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:
Work was usually pleasant. Elizabeth enjoyed it greatly. The quietness, the calm air of the library, the light that filtered through the windows and the dust that sometimes floated about the whole place, giving it an almost surreal look. Yes, she enjoyed working here. She might not make much money, but whatever she could win, she'd save it for her parents. No matter how much they insisted that she should keep her money for herself, she'd gladly hand it over with a smile. But; they were right. Someday she was going to have to leave home and find herself a stable place to live; and to do that, she would need money.
That was the reason that at that very moment, she had a newspaper open across the table of a small cafe, reading the classifieds, and apparently completely oblivious to Jane's presence in front of her; at least until she heard her name being called in slight impatience.
"Lizzy!"
The young woman looked up from the newspaper and stared into her sisters eyes. Oh. Oops. She seemed upset... Elizabeth could have sworn she hadn't been ignoring her... had she? She could swear not... a slight sigh escaped her lips as she spoke. "Is anything wrong, Jane?"she asked, genuinely oblivious as to what she had done to upset her sister. "Lizzy, Lizzy, you promised you wouldn't worry about work today!"Jane protested with a disappointed look on her face. Elizabeth sighed. "I know, but..."
"It's supposed to be an off day, Lizzy. Its not fun if you keep up worrying," Jane reminded her. Elizabeth sighed softly. " I know, Jane. I know, it's just... oh, I don't know..."she sighed. Yes, Jane was right. It was supposed to be her day off. But a voice in the back of her mind kept nagging at her for it. She did need another job. She couldn't complain, she adored the library, and wasn't thinking of leaving that job. No, she would not think of that. But she did want to earn some more money... not that she craved it, of course. With large quantities of money, with wealth, came unnecessary arrogance; and she definitely didn't want that for herself. But should money become an issue for her family... well, if that ever happened, she wanted to know that whatever contribution she could make would be good. And also, should the opportinity to depart from home present itself, she wanted to make sure that she could sustain herself. That... that wasn't much to ask for, was it?
"I'm sorry, Jane. I'll try and keep my mind busy with something else, I promise,"she said with a small smile. Jane gave a nod of approval. "That's good. We should go home now... it looks like rain..."she commented. The sky; which had started out as sunny and bright, had now taken a grey look, clouds covering the area and hiding the sun away; almost as if attempting to erase it from existance. "Yeah, let's go,"she agreed with a nod. Elizabeth folded the newspaper so that it fit into her black purse and stood up. Both women then started making their way toward their home.
Every stressing subject could wait... for now.
