I was curious which of the canons people have read AFTER finding out about them on RC. Tell why you decided to read it, whether or not you liked it, etc. I'll begin.
I read "The Outsiders" this week after I decided that I really wanted to know what the whole story was behind Sodapop and Dallas and everything. I really, really enjoyed it. I was very sad at the end with what happened to Dally, but I still loved the book. I also watched the movie, and I believe that THAT is how you're supposed to make a movie out of a book.
So, anyone else? [/blockquote]

Sherlock Holmes
The Outsiders movie was win! These days directors know they can make shitty movies out of books and still get money because all the fans of the books will go see it. Sad but true.
Then Sherlock Holmes (can't remember exactly which but I'm pretty sure it was the one with Irene in it, Scandal something) I wound up reading purely out of boredom and I must admit it hasn't grown on me D: Go ahead Tichy behead me XD

While conceiving this site with Yolanda, I was already an Outsiders freak. I did suggest it to be added to our canon selection. Welcome to the family I'm almost done reading Hamlet after joining this site. I loooove it. It's fantastic. What can I say?

Technically I read Hamlet after finding RC because we read it in English class near the end of the semester. I liked it, but I liked Romeo & Juliet better. xD

wow this list will be long, I was raised on Classics
~Romeo and Juliet ~Much Ado About Nothing ~Hamlet ~Twelfth Night ~A Midsummer Night’s Dream ~Sense and Sensibility (My favorite Austen Book) ~Pride and Prejudice ~Emma ~Wuthering Heights (didn't like it but still read it ) ~Jane Eyre ~Phantom of the Opera (LOVE IT!!!!!) ~Les Misérables (Great Book) ~Sherlock Holmes(Can't go wrong with Holmes) ~The Portrait of Dorian Gray ~The Time Machine ~Alice in Wonderland (Absolutely love it!) ~To Kill a Mockingbird (A book that shall never die!)
When I say that I grew up with these books I mean literally, they were the stories read to me so I would sleep.

Hey guys! I never posted in this because of my embarrassing lack of knowledge, but here it is - I'm just listing all of them, pre-RC or not: - Macbeth
- Hamlet
- The Outsiders, though I skimmed parts
- A Christmas Carol
- Oliver, a little
- Sherlock Holmes stories, though not nearly half of them...
- Some of The Three Musketeers
- Sleep Hollow, though I never finished the last few chapters
- Frankenstein
- Some of The Time Machine
- The Cather in the Rye
- To Kill A Mockingbird
- LesMis - an abridged version, not the 1500 page monstrosity
Sigh. Feel free to shake me now.

Ok, so these are definitely in no order. I just typed as I went The Outsiders – I am a diehard Buck fan. MacBeth – Note that I hate Shakespeare, but my honors English class went through a lot of plays Twelfth Night Othello Romeo & Juliet Hamlet The Three Musketeers – It clearly left an impact on me The Count of Monte Cristo – A very LONG and DULL read...did I say that? The Hunchback of Notre Dame Pride and Prejudice – Not a favorite, but Lady C rescued it! A Christmas Carol War and Peace – I had a long summer in the back of a car when I was fifteen My Childhood (Maxim Gorky – a Russian classic that is highly underrated) Call of the Wild by Jack London The Portrait of Dorian Gray To Kill a Mockingbird The Lord of the Flies The Time Machine A Sound of Thunder War of the Worlds The Socratic Dialogues (ancient Greek – does it count? Eh, I read it.) Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea Treasure Island The Mysterious Island Journey to the Center of the Earth The Swiss Family Robinson The Strange and Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe (which has many different names, but it’s all the same Sunny muse!)
