Sometimes Hector hated his job with a passion. Especially when he considered all the things he did just to please his clients and business associates. And then, when he had to hook new business partners, it usually involved going through certain...bizarre hoops.
Like with Mr. Edwards and his business partner/love of his life, Mr. Hoover. Two, very openly gay men. And Hector's employee who had set up the dinner with them had given Mr. Edwards and Mr. Hoover the wrong impression of him. So, Hector was obliged to bring his "man" to the dinner.
Unfortunately, or fortunately if you consider all his other options, Hector only had one man he could trust to take a job like this seriously. Long time friend Damien. Damien already enjoyed men's company more than women's, so it wouldn't be that big of a stretch for him to play the part of boyfriend.
Asking him had been awkward, but not unbearable. When Hector explained the situation, Damien had been more than obliging. He understood the business and what it entailed.
Hector took his towncar to pick up Damien almost an hour early. There were a few wrinkles they still had to work out, such as their backstory. But that shouldn't be too hard, Hector hoped.

Damien waited in his home as he tried to find things to wear haphazardly almost. His clothes were strewn all over the place as he looked for his best suit coat and a white long sleeved shirt with a pair of black pants. He had taken the time to pick out his tie which was a color of cornflower blue. The cornflower blue tie was the only thing he had left from his parents a reminder that they had never left his mind.
Looking around the place he sighed in a manner of distastefulness. It was a mess and he knew that Hector would be there in a few moments to come and pick him up. Looking at the clock he tried to pick up the rest of his clothes that were strewn all over the place, but as he heard the car pull up in the driveway he dropped the clothes on the floor. " Damn it, Hector why couldn't you have told me you were going to come by an hour early." Damien muttered to himself as he walked towards the door and opened it glancing back at the mess he had made. Checking himself in the mirror, Damien fixed his hair neatly and shook his head slowly still wishing he hadn't made such a mess.
Damien then looked over towards Hector and smiled warmly placing a hand out to him signalling for him to wait a minute so he could at least get his clothes and heap them in a pile on the middle of the floor. " I'll be right there." He said as he continued to clean up his mess without looking back outside.

Hector clasped his hand behind his back and waited patiently for Damien to clean up. In hindsight, Hector decided that he should have called beforehand to give him time to get ready. Hector stood casually while he waited for his friend. He looked around Damien's home, walking to the wall to observe some of the hangings more closely. "I apologize for not letting you know that I was on my way over. I was thinking of possible background stories," Hector pulled out a notepad from his pocket, where he had brainstormed ideas.
"Of course, we have to deal with the fact that you are a younger man so the majority of the ideas center around that aspect," Hector flipped through the notebook, trying to find the ones that he had liked more than the others. "We have that you worked for me, in the family, and that we just grew together. The other one is that we met at an art museum, because I was looking to buy something and you were there. Do you have any ideas?"
