Yet another murder was committed in the Bronx last Friday, of the same brutality and, evidently, by the same hand. The police have released her name as Sally Fay, a prostitute, whose body was found by a grocery store worker in the bushes just outside of the establishment, which wishes to remain unnamed. Authorities say that they now have reason to believe that the letter received at the New York Times offices was not a hoax, and that the three most recent murders in the Bronx were the work of a serial killer who calls himself Jack the Ripper.
Fay was found lying on her back, clothing removed from her bottom half, with a long tear down her abdomen, as well as several cuts on her face and legs. As with the murder of Annie Chapman, the killer- "The Ripper"- removed part of the uterus and had placed the bowels over the victim's shoulders. Similar to the other crime scenes, there were no signs of struggle or of rape. Forensic teams could find no finger prints, or anything left behind by the killer.
Although authorities say nothing official has been decided, in light of the most recent murder of Fay, they are now connecting the death of Martha Tabram to the latest murders, bringing the count to four.
Tabram, also a prostitute, was murdered three months ago in the same area, a few hundred yards East of the Ripper's main "territory". At first, there seemed as if there was no connection, as Tabram was stabbed 39 times, which contradicts the Ripper's modus operandi. However, the brutality, location, and the choice of the victim has lead investigators to now believe otherwise.
The search continues for any clue leading to the identification and capture of the the Ripper. So far no conclusive evidence leading to a probable suspect has been found, although the police have arrested several suspects and questioned even more. No weapon has been uncovered, though the coroner has released that the victim was murdered with a very sharp and long knife, possibly a dagger, and that the culprit might be left-handed. He also released that he believes the Ripper has sufficient medical knowledge, based on the unhesitating nature of the cuts made to the uterus, which was also pointed out in the letter written, allegedly, by the Ripper.
Again, the New York Police Department request that if you have any information regarding the case, to please contact either them of the offices of the New York Times.
