The New York Socialites, the Capulet Family, are having a tea party at their New York Penthouse. It's going be rare view inside one of New York's important families. And of course this being Capulets not everybody is invited to this Tea Party, only the selected few that the Capulet pick out of the role of index cards. And whoever though that the Gilded Age was dead, it has not step foot above Madison Avenue. The families in there lived like it was still late 1800s; they live by social calendar and spent their days in the country club. This humble reporter had the opportunity to get glimpse to their lifestyle, since I am writing about the Capulets tea party. If the Vanderbilts or Rockerfellers were live and to see this, they would be proud.
On the subject of the tea party that the Capulets are hosting, they are scheduling it for late afternoon and the dress code is formal. If you had any thought that it might be like an Alice in Wonderland tea party, you are mistaken. There will be no Mad Hatter, unless you count the top hats some gentlemen might be wearing and the pocket watch that some of them might carry; there will be no Cheshire Cat unless you consider the Cheshire Cat the small dogs that the daughters of these socialites carry in their purses.
I had a chance to see the china that will be used at the party; it is only finest tea china that money can buy, but that is expected from a family that lives in world that seem that has stopped and is stuck in the late 1800s. The few lucky ones invited to the tea party would be spending their tea time in most luxurious surroundings. And crashing this party would not be advisable, since there is code on the elevator to get to the Capulet Penthouse. This reporter was not even trusted with it and I was escorted in by the Capulet Butler.
So, to the few lucky ones invited to the party, please, I ask some pictures so the rest of New York can see how the socialites live. And to those that were not lucky enough to be invited to the party, you can read all about it here in the New York Times. But if you are so curious about the Capulet penthouse, below are some pictures.
