New York Times Political Review
The elections have been running for some time now; long time politician Richard Plantagenet running against newcomer Hector Tormei. Despite his lack of experience in the political arena Tormei has already made a name for himself; his constituents’ meeting attracted a great deal of attention and support, and the party he hosted at the Museum of Modern Art attracted a great deal of the city’s high class and elite. By contrast, despite his previous successful campaign, Richard Plantagenet has done little in response to Tormei’s campaign. His supporters claim this is due in part to the fact the previous election against his brother was merely a matter of protocol following the late Edward Plantagenet’s death; Tormei’s supporters say that if Richard Plantagenet cannot handle a ‘true’ election, as it were, then he should not be in possession of the power he currently holds.
Polls taken at the time of writing in this publication and others have cited Tormei as most likely to win the election, although there are many still sticking by Plantagenet despite his lack of action. But have the Plantagenets been in power for too long? Is it time for change? We were able to ask a number of people, prominent and otherwise, their opinions on the mayoral race:
I haven't had much time to focus on the campaign, unfortunately. I do look forward to voting for the first time since moving here, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to do some catch up.
-Jane Eyre
It's awesome. I'd pay money for Tormei and Plantagenet to duke it out. That would----what do you mean Plantagenet's crippled? Who gives a ****, I have one leg and I'd still fight. It's only unfair if the crip plays the victim....What was the question again?
-Hal "BadAss" Cooper
I'm Canadian, so American politics, local otherwise aren't really my forte. I'm also a socialist, so I think mainstream politics in general are useless and a waste of time and money.
-Penelope LaFontaine
"You know what, considering my quotes have been edited in the past by this 'publication,' I'm not going to badmouth anyone. I'm just going to say that Hector Tormei is the man for the job. Case closed. He's a man of the people, for the people. And he was built for it too. The guy isn't massive for no reason. He's going to take City Hall by storm!"
- Dr. James Faustus
At first I was inclined to vote Plantagenet, considering my good rapport with his late brother Edward. However I’ve come to realize Richard Plantagenet is nothing like his brother; that and Tormei’s plans for the city seem much more sensible and realistic.
-Lady Catherine de Bourgh
I’m not surprised Hector Tormei has taken up politics; I know he’ll be well suited to a position of authority. He’s a charismatic and able man and I’d place money on him to win this election. Just you watch; he’ll do great things for this city.
-Claudius Chandler
We shall have more opinions on the mayoral race as they come.

PLUSH MAGAZINE UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT
Plush Magazine was recently placed under the management of Hamlet Enterprises as the previous managing company was unable to outbid them for its control. The profitable, national magazine is read by many in this city, particularly its relationships column ‘Heart Matters’. Mr Claudius Chandler, CEO of Hamlet Enterprises, was unavailable for comment on the takeover.

SECOND MURDER IN BRONX,
KILLER THREATENS MORE
Annie Chapman, also know as "Dark Annie", was murdered in the early hours of February 29. She was a prostitute and presumably the second victim of a killer who now uses the pen-name "Jack the Ripper". Her body was discovered at 6:00 am by taxi driver John Davis in the back lot of 2554 Holland Ave.
In a letter he sent the offices of the Times, the killer promises to continue these same crimes. Thinking it was a hoax, we did not turn it in to the New York Police Department until just after the murder.
A full transcript of the letter is included below:
March 1, 2011
Dear Boss,
There's this rumor floating around that the police have their finger on me, but trust me, they're not even remotely close. It sent me into a laughing fit, the last bit they said about Leather Apron! I've made it my job to polish off these [expletive expunged], and I'm not going to stop until they do catch me! The last one was a right piece of artwork, wasn't she? I gave her no time to squeal. And they think they can stop me? I'm not finished with my work, and want to start again very soon. I've given them a break, you see, to try and collect themselves, but I've grown tired of it; you'll soon hear of me and my funny little games.
I saved some of the proper red stuff in a bottle, but not thinking ahead- it curdled and now I can't write with it. Red ink is good enough, I hope. ha. ha. The next job I do, I'll cut off the girl's ears and send them to the police! What a wonderful little clue it'll be.
If you would, keep this letter back a bit before I get to work again, then give it all in the papers. My knife's so nice and sharp that I want to get back to work right away if I get the chance. Good luck.
Yours truly,
Jack the Ripper
Don't mind me giving the trade a name.
p.s. didn't have time to wash the "ink" off my hands before I sent this. And they say I'm a doctor now. ha ha.
When she was found, police say, the body was still warm- the gruesome discovery must have taken place mere minutes after its occurrence. The police remain reluctant to give out too much information on the crime. "We are doing all we can," says detective Philippe Javert of the New York Police Department, "to stop this monster before he harms another life." He refused to go into detail concerning just what they are doing. When asked about the letter, he said, "We aren't counting it as legitimate evidence right now, but we have begun to run lab tests on it."
Several theories about the killer have begun to circulate; forensic reports suggest that the killer may have medical knowledge, which was referenced in the letter. Some think that he may be an escapee from a mental institution, a religious fanatic, or both. There have even been people seriously questioning the gender of the killer, suggesting a Jill the Ripper could be responsible as opposed to a Jack; a disgruntled fellow prostitute, perhaps.
For now, the NYPD continue to search for the person or persons who could have committed these crimes. If you have any information, please contact the Times or the NYPD.
