Sebastian wasn't one to go shopping.
In fact he found it a horrendously foreboding task. While he was a scientist (a chemist at that!), he was not fond of real world math, and prices astounded him, especially in this day and age. He was always afraid he'd be buying something for far more than what it was worth, as he was usually gullible when it came to big "sales."
He was sure that James didn't need, or want, anything for their six month anniversary other than sex. Neither of them had done anything special for their anniversaries since the one month picnic. He found James honestly didn't care about the frivilous things, and sometimes he didn't blame him. He loved James, he was right when Sebastian went overboard.
This month, however, was different. They had been together for half a year (a feet he was thouroughly proud of), and Sebastian sought the need to commemorate it. He figured a date wouldn't be too pleasing to James, so he settled on buying him a present. What he could get him, however, was a tough matter indeed.
He'd thought first of a tie; a simple present, yet straightfoward. Then he thought "... This isn't father's day, and James has plenty of ties." Then he thought of a watch, but then he thought that too bland and typical.
Finally, he'd settled on something truly devious.
He would buy him a ring, just as James had bought Sebastian one.
It would be inscribed with HIS initials, just like its match. He was going to turn the tables on James. He would possess James just as much as James would possess him. He doubted James would mind, and if he did, he'd merely take it back. There was no point in trying to convince him to wear it, as James always had the final say in anything. Perhaps if he didn't want to wear it on his finger, maybe as a necklace underneath his shirt.
He had strolled to the Jewelry section of the department store in the mall to pick out the perfect ring. He was having a tough time, however, as most all of the rings seemed to "call out to him" so to speak. He glanced at his own ring on his left hand and sighed, leaning on the counter. Perhaps he had been wrong to come here. Perhaps their six month anniversary wasn't important at all.
He moved to walk away, when he accidentally bumped into a warm body situated next to him. "Oh, God, I'm so sorry!" he said.
