Faustus stood outside the restaurant, looking down the street, hoping to see some foxy curvy woman in heels coming his way. He could hope right? That was the fun part of blind dates, you never know what you're gonna get. And...if blind dates were like a box of chocolates, Faustus wouldn't mind that either.
Besides, he deserved to have a little fun. The money was rolling in and he had a special afternoon planned for whoever Ms. Jane happened to be. And if everything turned out the way he planned, he'll be getting some action by the end of the night.
Yep, the doctor had a strategy. He asked the mystery lady named Jane Eyre to meet him at some italian restaurant for a semi casual day out. Dressed in a pair of slacks, blue button-up, black leather jacket, and his cross chain for 'accent,' Faustus was rocking the whole "Look at your man, now back at me, now back at your man' Old Spice vibe, in the fact that no woman will be able to resist him.
Oh and don't think Faustus is just going to take her out to dinner at this restaurant he told her to meet him at. Please. There was a definite strategy and all this money he needed to throw away was not going to some crappy italian restaurant.
Now hopefully this Jane Eyre would be someone a looot better than his last 'date' - Penelope.

Jane wasn't ready for her date on time. She had got caught up in a painting, and by the time she realized that she had to get ready, it was almost time to do. As a result, Jane didn't have time to wash her hands so there were oil paint stains all over them. Jane managed to pull on a blush colored dress and her white tights without smearing the paint, and her hair went up in a high ponytail as she walked out the door.
She left almost five minutes late.
Jane spotted the restaurant that she was to meet her date and and paused to straigthen herself out. She didn't want to show up a mess. Especially since she didn't know who this date was. If he was one, waiting for a beauty to show up, then he was going to be sorely disappointed. Jane didn't want to go in and see the disappointment on his face.
Taking a deep breath, Jane walked into the Italian establishment and hovered near the front, twisting her fingers anxiously as she tried to spot her date. It was strange, the situation. Jane had never been on a date before, and her first one was set up with a stranger.

Faustus looked at his watch and sighed, glancing up and following every woman that walked by with his eyes - trying to determine if they were Ms. Blind Date. He eyed one woman who paused before walking in the restaurant with tights and a dress. He paid her no mind at first but then when he glanced inside the door of the restaurant, Faustus saw her looking around for someone.
Faustus' brow furrowed. That must be his date.
Well she wasn't so bad. If she just let her hair down and put on a tight mini dress, Faustus could see her making heads turn. Maybe a date with Faustus would be just what she needed to loosen herself up. Faustus opened the door to the restaurant and caught her standing at the front, her back towards him.
"Jane Eyre?" Faustus asked her, expecting her to respond to the name.

Jane didn't know what she was looking for as she looked for her date. Several people were walking about and she didn't notice the tall, black man until he addressed her by name. Jane started and looked at him, smiling automatically. "Yes?" She stepped forward, towards the man and held out her hand to shake. He was very handsome, which made Jane feel a little more self-conscious than she had been feeling. She suddenly felt poorly dressed and painfully plain. "I'm Jane Eyre," even her accent sounded base and lowly in her ears. Pushing those thoughts aside, Jane tried to focus on what was happening.
She, Jane Eyre, orphan and foregettable woman, was actually on a date. Of course, this man hadn't asked her out on his own, but it's still a date. Hopefully, he wouldn't just abandon her half-way through and she wouldn be able to actually experience what is like to be properly wooed. Edward had his romantic moments, but he didn't actively try to charm and win her over. At least, he didn't in the normal way. Jane figured that even if the date was horrible, it would at least beat manipulation and lies.

Faustus grinned at her greeting, entering the restaurant. This will be easy. All he had to do was keep imagining her with that hair down and in a tight mini dress, and hopefully by the end of the day he could get her in something less than that. All he gotta do is loosen her up. And he had just the perfect way to get her mind in the 'right' place. "Jane, just the girl I was lookin' for." Faustus took her hand in a firm confident shake and pulled her in for a gentle hug, before letting go of her hand. "Come on, don't act like this is a business meeting!" He joked before letting her and her hand go. "Nice to meet you Jane. I'm James Faustus, you might have heard of me. I used to roll with Donald Trump back in the day - helped him put up all those casinos in Vegas. But I had to get out of that deal cause he was getting into all that reality show crap." He pulled on his jacket collar a bit in a cocky gesture. He paused and then cracked a laugh, waving his hand dismissively. "Naw, I'm just playin. I'm a doctor." A waiter came up to them. "Table for two?" "Yeah, actually - " He turned around and saw an old couple waiting behind them. He gestured for them to come forward. "Give our table for two these senior rebels here. Cause we sure as hell ain't eatin' here." Faustus put a hand behind Jane's back to lead her out of the restaurant. "Enjoy your meal!" He said to the old couple. "You really thought we were eatin' there?" He asked once outside. " Please. That was just a meeting place. You rollin with James Faustus, now Jane. I got somethin' for you that you are gonna love. But before we eat, we're gonna take a walk to somewhere that's gonna get you loosened up, trust me." Oh this date was gonna be good. "So, while we're on our way, tell me about Ms. Jane Eyre." Faustus said, glancing at her with a grin. "What do you do for a living? You look like you could be masseuse -like you could be good with your hands, am I right? " (godmodded a bit, hope thats ok. )

Jane's whole body stiffened when James pulled her into a sudden hug. She relaxed once he started talking again though, while not hugging her. Jane was not the hugging type really. It had something to do with her affectionless childhood she supposed. Jane let the doctor sweep her away in the whirlwind of his personality, following along, smiling and nodding when expected. She injected a few "I see"s and "But of course"s to show that she was going her best to keep up. A ball of energy is what he was. And then she remembered the paint on her hands. "Oh, you might want to be careful," Jane waved her hands in front of her, the paint stains quite obvious. "Some of the paint might still be wet and if it gets into your clothes, you can't get it out,"
Because that would be a lovely way to start a date. Getting paint all over the man who has taken the time, energy, and money to plan an outing. And then, of course, he questioned about her work. "I suppose you could say that I'm 'good with my hands' but not in the manner that you are thinking. I teach art in an inner-city highschool, and I'm a part time artist whenever I can spare a moment or sell something," Jane chirped happily. She enjoyed her job and enjoyed talking about it. More than one anecdote to share because of how ridiculous the kids were sometimes and the simple love she felt for the profession made it a very easy topic for her to participate in.

When James caught her warning about the paint, he tugged on his jacket a bit and checked himself for any bright colored spots. "Guuurl you betta tell somebody somethin'," Faustus said, half jokingly. "This jacket is precious. Something of beauty. You know why? Cause it's mine. No offense but I ain't trying to look like I just had a fight in a Crayola factory, know what I mean?" What was wrong with her anyway? Didn't she know they were going out on a date? And she didn't have the courtesy to wash her hands after finger painting or whatever the hell she was doing? Maaaan there would've been hell to pay if she messed up his clothes, for real! That jacket cost too damn much!
While they walked, James actually shut up long enough to listen to what his date was saying. He listened, but he was really thinking about what was coming next. Oh she was gonna love it. Either that or he was gonna have a lot more than paint thrown in his direction very soon.
"Ah so you're an educator. I like that, I like that," he said as they walked. " Number one, Lord knows the kids in this city need some education, stat. I don't care what it is. They can recite every lyric to some Kanye West song but turn around and ask them about the time tables, they bust out with some headphones thinking you said turn table. That ain't right! And you know what? I like the fact that you do what you do outside of the school 'cause I'm kinda the same way. I don't just stop in the ER. It's like, yeah I do a job well done on a surgery - but tell me somethin' I don't know. There's gotta be somethin else. But hey, that's just generally how I do it. I do it big." He grinned at Jane as they turned a corner. Sometimes when James gets to talking, it sounds as if he hadn't taken a breath and that was one of those times.
"So you're the teacher type, right? Got the whole analytical, didactic skills goin for you? I figured as much. That's why I think what I've got planned is gonna be perfect. We're almost there." After a short pause he asked, "So tell me, you deal with a lot of bad ass kids in your class? Cause if it were me, I wouldn't have the patience to be a teacher. I'd kick every kid that try to talk back to me out of my sight, out of my class, out of the school, literally. I'd make 'em run home cryin'." He laughed a bit in a joking fashion before pausing just enough for Jane to get a word in.

"I'm sorry about the paint. I was working on a painting and lost track of time," Jane felt sheepish. Obivously this man knew far more about dating than she did and it made her feel ridiculous. Again she fell silent and let James run off at the mouth in the way that he seemed to have mastered. She didn't have a problem with that. She wasn't a chatty one anyway, let the doctor talk about things that interested him. Thankfully, his jacket was paint free which was a relief to Jane. Her nature wouldn't allow her just to brush it off, she would have to offer to replace it. The jacket looked expensive and Jane doubted that she would be able to replace it within a reasonable amount of time. Selfishly glad to be free of that particular burden, Jane rubbed her hands tofether, trying to smear whatever wet paint remained so that it would dry faster and a later mishap could be avoided.
So tell me, you deal with a lot of bad ass kids in your class?
Jane thought back to her students. Other teachers got complaints quite often from some of them but Jane never had an issue. "My students behave quite well. I think it has to do with the fact that I'm different from the other teachers on campus," Jane shrugged. Her fingers twisted the handle of her bag as they continued their walk. The mystery James had managed to build up around the date was intriguing. Jane admitted that she wanted to know what was coming, especially since James was so pleased with himself. Of course, James seemed pleased with himself in general so she didn't know if it meant anything special.

Faustus grinned. "So in other words, underneath all that shyness you got going on, you lay down the law in that art class, don't you? I bet you do. Yeah, the kids think you're all quiet but watch if they start throwing paint around - I bet you're like 'HEY! Ya'll better watch it! I'm about to bite off an ear like Van Gogh up in here if ya'll don't stop playin' around!'" He laughed a bit and casually slipped an arm around her waist as they walked.
"Come on Jane, be real. I see you behind all that reserved quietness." This light-hearted teasing was wishful thinking on Faustus' part. Because Faustus was absolutely convinced every quiet girl had a freaky side. And that's exactly the side he planned on bringing out of Jane. Besides, she was an artist. Wasn't she supposed to be one of those hippie/free spirited types? That 'creativity' can come in handy more ways than one.

"Um, no actually. I simply treat them with respect and they reciprocate," Jane could not understand this man. He seemed so viligent about projecting his own personality onto others, making them into version of him in some capacity. At least, he was doing so to Jane and she couldn't rally against it. Too much was happening oh so fast. When James slid an arm around her waist, Jane jumped and immediately pulled to get out of his embrace. "I do not know you well enough to allow you to take such liberties," Jane stammered and tried to move away.
How unfortunate for the doctor, Jane was exactly as he saw there. Calm, quiet, shy all the way through. There was no secret amazon burgeoning to get out. Just Plain Jane with her paint stained hands and aversion to the touch of relative strangers. She wasn't entirely pleased with the fact, having often wondered what it would be like if she possessed the charms and beauty of a more desirable woman. Because with those charms and beauty would come some secret she could guard in her breast and hand out only to those who have come to matter most.

Faustus furrowed his brow and looked at her after her first comment, which completely killed any form of lighthearted teasing he was trying to achieve. This girl was a tough one to crack. Maybe where they were going will change things up a bit. Heck, Faustus had to keep an optimistic as he definitely wasn't one to give up easily - especially when it came to the female population. But when she pulled away from him, Faustus definitely had to say something. "Wait wait wait a minute. What are we - in medieval times?" He asked with a grin. "Calm down, this is supposed to be a date - what's wrong with putting my arm around an attractive girl?" Damn, just when he thought things were going well. Clearly Faustus over stepped his bounds. But since they arrived at their destination - Faustus was no fool. He knew he had to stop laying it on thick if he were to get a civil reaction of Jane. Sure he was taking a risk by taking her to this place, but hey, Faustus was a risky guy. Now it was just a matter of seeing if Jane could handle it. Faustus sighed and stepped in front of her, putting a stop to their walking. "Look, I'm sorry if I was movin to fast." He wasn't. But, if that was moving to fast, his surprise definitely would be. "But in your profile you said you wanted someone with a sense of humor right? And you are the intellectual type right? Well, I dunno, I think we got a lot in common that way, so that's why I thought it would be interestin to get a few laughs out of goin... here." He turned towards the building they were in front of. He turned back to Jane and laughed a bit. "It'll be fun. Then once we get our laughs out of this we're gonna be dinin' in style," He started heading towards the door, as if automatically expecting Jane to be okay with this.

The Museum of Sex? The Museum of Sex??? Jane froze up again, eying the entrance wildly. This was unacceptable. No, no way could she go in there. It wasn't appropriate. "Oh no," Jane reeled back instinctively. Add Faustus thinking he could put his hands on her without pretense or even getting to know her and Jane couldn't take anymore. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I can't do this," Jane shook her head and spun on her heel, starting to walk away briskly. Her face was aflame with embarassment, indignation, and offense. Part of her was seething at his audacity and part of her was blushing furiously at the simple idea of viewing....sex things with somebody she had just met.
What would the teachers at Lowood think?
What did it matter what they thought? That was thousands of miles away and years ago. But that didn't change a thing. It wasn't proper for James to plan such a date, just as it wasn't proper for Jane to walk away like this. Jane stopped and turned around, prepared to face James and explain herself if need be.

James heard Jane protesting and he turned around. "Hey!" he called out towards her back as she walked away. "Hey, hey, hey!" Oh hell. That wasn't the reaction he was aiming to get. Come on, in theory, that idea should've worked! She was smart, she liked museums. She wanted a guy with a sense a humor and what's funnier than seeing how the cave peoples got down and dirty?! James didn't understand - he thought it was a great idea. Unless she was a complete and utter prude, to the 10th degree. And in that case, what was he was supposed to do after the date? And if not this date - the next one?
James went up to her as she turned around. "Whats the matter? I thought you were a museum kinda girl! It's not like we're moving up to any other level by walking in that door." He grinned a bit. He can still salvage this. He was James Faustus, he saved lives for a living. Of course he could salvage this. "Come on, girl." He nodded to the door. "Take a deep breath, relax, loosen up and give it a shot. I'd say you might learn somethin' but even I know that's nothin' to say to a woman." He laughed a bit and hoped she would too...or at least fake it.

"You have to understand, James, that I was raised in an all-girl Catholic school. Sex, even in the historical sense, would not be considered an appropriate topic," Jane was blushing bright red and avoiding looking at James. She would try to relax and have fun, like he suggested, but she was only 19. There was no way she could be relaxed in a museum like that with her upbringing and a man by her side. Jane looked back up at James at his last comment. That was true. There would be knowledge in the museum, Jane liked to learn, but she doubted that she would be learning in the way he was suggesting. Just because she was inexperienced didn't mean that Jane was completely naive. She had been engaged, after all, and Edward was a very forward person. He had given her little need to imagine what their wedding night would be like.
"Take a deep breath, relax, loosen up and give it a shot. I'd say you might learn somethin' but even I know that's nothin' to say to a woman."
"I'll try..." Jane replied uneasily. She took a deep breath and nodded for James to lead the way. It still felt like breaking the rules but Jane had been in New York for nearly a year now. It was about time for her to open up and grow. And, if in that moment, it meant entering The Museum of Sex with one Dr. James Faustus, Jane was willing to try. She promised herself though that if she got too uncomfortable, she'd just leave.

"See that's what I'm talkin about girl," Faustus said with a big grin once she agreed to go inside. He nodded towards the place and led the way inside as he said, "Broaden your horizons, live a little, do things just for the hell of it, viva la vida, livin la vida loca, voulez-vous coucher avec moi or whatever the hell that means and - helloooo" His constant talking was interrupted when he entered the place, since wide open space of all kinds of sketchy exhibits involving animals getting it on. There were life sized sculptures of polar bears getting happy with each other, and one to their right of three deer and...well, yeah. This particular exhibit was littered with all you'd ever want to know but never wanted to ask about animal sex.
He looked over at Jane to see if she was as amused as he was. But then he saw a small exhibit about snakes and went over to it, reading the info. "Male snakes have a forked organ, allowing them to dodge the female's tail and penetrate from either direction." Faustus had to laugh. "Now Jane, can you tell me why the guys gotta get flack from girls even as snakes? I mean, damn. A brotha can't even catch a break - plus snake sex has gotta be pretty complicated, so when a snake gets in the mood that's gotta be somethin' special." He shook his head and laughed, looking at Jane for a reaction. He wondered if his little hypothesis was right - most of this stuff was educational - unless one wasn't looking for education. The place seemed to be what you make of it, it seemed.
