"That had to be the most ridiculous film ever."
Adrienne rarely minced her words with regard to horror films, she loved them whether they were full of schlock and made on a shoe-string budget or if they were glossy, gore-filled hollywood remakes, but she enjoyed complaining about them just as much.
"Even if a giant octopus was inclined to attack Manhattan, I sincerely doubt the solution would be sewer rats. Maybe I'm not giving the rats their due, I suppose they might well have octopus-fighting powers they've just never been able to show us."
Adrienne paused, and looked up at Victor. She never knew what he was thinking. She shoved her hands in her pockets and rocked back on her heels, pondering the next move. She wasn't entirely sure how to classify this relationship, if it was one. They'd slept together once, and then things with Reed had begun to get dangerous and... well.
Adrienne had to work out what Victor thought their relationship was, and then decide if she needed to correct him or not. She had only lately agreed to go exclusive with Reed, a decision she was practically chewing furniture trying to work out what it all meant. What he meant. What she meant.
They were playing games with one another and she didn't know the rules. She shrugged one shoulder, and decided just to nudge Victor to take the lead. She wanted to know what he was thinking and he never seemed inclined to share it otherwise. Maybe she could just... work it out this way.
"Well. What now?"

Victor smiled down at her. "Well, I believe what made it more ridiculous was that it started out like Arsenic and Old Lace. But who would have thought the old lady's secret was that she was the host of a mutated octopus?" The only good thing about the movie was that there wasn't much blood, just people getting swallowed by a giant octopus... and lots of ink. When Ade had said 'horror movie' he'd carefully planned out which jeans he was going to wear that day. Not that it as guaranteed he would get excited by the blood, but it was a necessary precaution.
"Well. What now?"
He watched her rock on her heels a moment, and his smile widened a bit, tousling her cherry red hair like she was an impatient four-year-old. "Well, I dunno, Miss Heart." He paused a moment and then asked jokingly, "Do you eat?"
Victor had gotten more natural around her during the past few weeks or so they'd known each other. He wasn't as awkward or intimidating, and more surprising- he didn't demand sex. A strange man, but intriguing; secretive too, though he tended to avoid situations that might end in him saying "I can't tell you" or "it's personal."
And he liked her... he liked her a lot. Which was a rather strange feeling for him. It wasn't often that he actually respected and liked a woman, and she was such a strange candidate for the position. Unfortunately, she'd seemed... almost cautious around him. As if he was going to try something and she was ready to pounce on him the moment he did.

Adrienne tried and failed to dodge his hand as he tousled her hair, and then laughed. She was one of the most affectionate people just naturally; Victor was obviously less comfortable with it, but his awkwardness was half of what made him endearing. She could see that he had loosened up considerably since their first meeting.
"Do I eat?" she repeated, as though it were a difficult question. "I have been known to, yes," she said, with a little smirk. "Although -- let's skip the seafood, okay?"
Ade crammed her hands into her pockets and looked around vaguely. There were plenty of places to go, but it was choosing the right sort of one for them; she didn't want a private booth or a quiet, romantic table, and she didn't want a big, fancy, expensive meal either. Until she knew what Victor was thinking she had to be sure she was sending him the right messages.
"Pizza?"

"Pizza it is," he said with a smile. As sinister as he really was, the Ripper actually loved pizza. I mean, really, you couldn't go wrong with pizza. "I know a place."
He nudged her in the direction of the road, going on ahead of her to unlock his car. Owning a car in NYC was a little silly, as everything was accessible either by subway, taxi, or foot, but it was nice for occasions like this--going to pick up someone for a movie in a part of town that wasn't as packed with taxis. That, and he owned one just because he could.
He unlocked the passenger side door for her first, and then went around the back to get in on his side. Victor quietly sighed before he got in, starting the car and making sure she was secured before he turned into the street. Luckily, the pizza parlor he had in mind was right in the neighborhood, and in a matter of ten minutes, they were pulling up to it.
