Hi, my name is Sisi and this is my second character (I also play as Katherine Minola). Something you should know about me is that university may be frying my brain currently XP.
Canon: Greek Mythology (consort of Hades)
Custom Title: Child of Nature, Queen of the Dead
PHYSICAL
Age: 26
Gender: female
Appearance:
Height: 5 foot 6
Body: normal, healthy sized, nothing exciting
Other distinguishing features: long flame coloured hair and almost translucent skin
Wardrobe: Penelope prefers blue jeans and feminine tops (lacy affairs and anything baby-doll style), but she'll also do leggings and a sweater. Either way, she always wears her trusty Chuck Taylors or leopard flats, depending on her mood and the weather.
Play By: Karen Gillan
PERSONALITY
General personality:
Penelope is sweet and patient. She 's close to her parents, but is especially close to her mother, as they both share a love for nature and work as horticulturists. She generally gets along with most people if they get along with her. Penelope also finds it emotionally trying when friends look for support in tough situations. It often causes her as much stress as it causes them and she prefers to avoid going headlong into such problems. She finds it difficult to deal with things and prefers to remain happy and oblivious to issues, unless they're just too big to ignore, making Penelope a tad naive and fickle in terms of how she supports her friends. Men are frequently drawn by her beauty, and she'll always try to be responsive, but actually going out with them doesn't usually cross her mind, as she'd be more comfortable dating someone she knows rather than some guy who flirted with her at a party.
Penelope always makes room in her sometimes meager pocketbook for donations to worthwhile charities. She especially donates a lot to breast cancer charities. She's steadfast about her decisions and will only change her mind if someone gives her a very good reason to. This makes her seem stubborn to other people, although she just likes to be firm and decisive, rather than waste time going back and forth on a particular choice.
Likes:
[li]horticulture and botany
[/li][li]taking care of her own personal garden
[/li][li]social and environmental activism
[/li][li]her family and friends

Dislikes:
Strengths: She's kind, patient (horticulture requires a lot of patience), and very sweet and likable
Weaknesses: slightly stubborn, tends to do things without thinking, especially when it comes to lending or donating money. She can't say no to a 'good cause' or friend in need even when she's completely broke. It's also why she's always having to back out of things. She jumps right into something, only to discover that it's 'too hard', and backs out again, making her come off as flakey. She's a little too trusting of people, always sure she'll get her money back when she lends it. She donates to only well-known groups, so her nature isn't as much of a problem here as it could be. She also stresses out easily and tends to back away from challenges if it gets too hard to handle.
BACKGROUND
Family: Her mother, Genevieve LaFontaine, and her father Martin LaFontaine, both still alive
Education: Went to elementary school and high school in Toronto where she grew up. Earned her Bachelor's degree in biology, with a focus on plant biology and horticulture at NYU
Occupation: She works as a horticulturist at the Botanical Gardens in New York.
Worst past experience: Leaving home and all her family and friends to go to university
Best past experience: Landing her dream job at the Botanical Gardens
History: Penelope's parents grew up and married in Montreal. Her mother was a horticulturist, like her, and her father was a high school biology teacher. Work opportunities brought them both to Toronto, where Penelope was born and raised. Being their only child, she and her parents were always close, and always wanted to keep an eye on her, and pushed her to do her best and succeed in school. This is what led her to back out of difficult situations and challenges. She wanted to be shrewed about what she pursued, to keep her grades and other achievements up. For her, there wasn't much point in doing something (a sport, a new subject) if it was too hard and ended up distracting her from her other, more successful pursuits. Her motto was, and still is, "stick to what you're good at". Penelope became especially close to her mother when she discovered her own love of nature and gardening. She learned the art of horticulture from her mother, and excelled in her high school biology classes.
In her last year of high school, she decided she wanted to see more of the world, and applied to several universities outside of the province and even the country. She was thrilled when she got accepted to NYU, and also sad, as it was going to be extremely difficult to leave all of her friends and family. She adjusted to university life, calling and e-mailing her friends and family frequently, and meeting and befriending new people on campus. Penelope was going to head home after she finished her degree, but when she landed her job at the Botanical Gardens, everyone told her stay and take the job, as it was her dream career. So Penelope is now living full time in New York and has a job she loves.
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:
Penelope smiled as she looked over the pink roses. They were growing beautifully, and just needed as good pruning before being set out again in the display. She stroked the soft petals with a finger, and leaned in to inhale their sweet smell. Penelope had always loved roses above all other plants. She loved how delicate the looked and how sweet they smelled. Above all, she loved how each colour of rose symbolized a different emotion, so that you could talk to someone without actually speaking. Of course other flowers had meanings too, but the roses were so varied, as varied as the colours they came in. The pinks and reds were her favourites, especially the reds. Red for passion, for love. Penelope sighed with contentment as a coworker came up to her. "We have some new specimens coming in. They need to be logged and taken care of." He said as he nodded in approval at her work with the roses. "Not a problem Mike. I'll get right on them, when I finish with the roses." She said with a smile. She liked nothing better than to work on the gardens. They always made her happy, made feel better when she was stressed. She new that when she finally retired, she'd spend all her time in her own garden, growing vegetables and beautiful flowers...
